Scottie Scheffler was asked ahead of the Travelers Championship how he feels about the impact it’s had on the game: “Yeah, I think it's great for golf to become more mainstream. I think you see, especially since COVID, there's been a tremendous growth in the amount of people that are playing golf. “I think it's the greatest game in the world. You learn a lot about life. I met some of my best friends in the whole world playing golf. So for people getting involved in the sport I think is tremendous. “Like I said, getting to spend four hours with somebody outside hanging out playing a game is something that's pretty rare in the busyness I think that we live in today. So getting out taking some time with your buddies and going to play golf is one of the most fun things you can do. Especially when you start playing, you learn a lot about life and how to handle things and it's a challenging game as well, so overall I think it's just a great sport for anybody to get involved in.” PGA TOUR TravelersChamp

Scottie Scheffler explains why playing too many events in a row can mentally drain players and referred to Tiger Woods always playing a limited schedule: “I think when you look at this sport it's unique in a sense of like the amount of time we spend in front of people throughout a week. Like for me to play four days of tournament golf, from the moment I step out on to the driving range if we're playing at a four hour pace that's over five hours, five and a half hours if you include this part of my day, where we're in front of people. And doing that four days in a row in a mental sport I think can take a toll on you. “I think that's why you see a guy like Tiger can only play so many events because I think mentally the challenge of just being in front of people for that long and being on and what it takes in toward to compete week in week out takes a lot out of you mentally. So for me playing more than three weeks in a row is extraordinarily difficult. I can't handle much more than that. “When you look at the season now I think it, for family time it's great to have an off-season as well, just for us for me to be able to be at home with my family is important. Ludvig Aberg gives a refreshingly honest assessment of his round today: “Yeah, obviously really disappointed. I felt like I was striking it okay early on. Got away with a few things, especially No. 4, kind of left miss. “But overall pleased with the week. Obviously today the back nine was not good, but that's the way it goes sometimes.” “It got away from me quick there (on 11 and 12). Yeah, it was just poor swings. I felt like I've had that sort of 7-wood right miss a few times this week, on No. 4 especially twice, and it came up on 11 as well. “Then tried to press a little bit on 12, hitting driver, where sometimes you can play 3-wood a little short of that bunker. “Yeah, obviously really disappointed. Max Homa says he doesn’t agree with the ruling on Bryson DeChambeau yesterday and says he knows Bryson would “never cheat the game of golf”: “I'm not really, I guess, wanting to be able to decide on fair, because they're the rules officials. I only saw one angle, and in my opinion I didn't agree with the ruling. I know there's another angle that -- side on, it's always hard to tell if it improves anything. “All I know is I've known Bryson for a very long time, and he's an interesting human at times, but I know he would never cheat the game of golf. I don't really love how it happened. It's not that the R&A said that he did it intentionally, but that rule as a professional golfer feels like it's written inherently to protect against people trying to improve their lie. So I just hope that people don't have that -- that doesn't create a narrative because I don't believe that of him. “But again, I'm not going to sit here -- it's really hard to tell anything. So yeah, that one is not up for me to judge. But it's a shame how that ruling feels because it seems like -- we were talking about it this morning. NCAA Champion Michael La Sasso is now the youngest player on LIV Golf after signing for Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC during the off season. He explained his decision to join the league ahead of the season opener in Riyadh: “One of the things that went into my decision, when I was 10 years old starting to play golf, like, the goal for me was to play professional golf. Having people that have been very well-known in the golf space and are so experienced, and to be able to be a part of a team that's with Phil, somebody that's had so much experience, I feel like he'll be able to answer any question that I throw at him, to have the ability to be able to ask somebody that on a daily basis, that played a very big part in it for me because not every 21-year-old has the opportunity to be able to ask questions to those people. So that was a big factor for me. “I think so far, I'm so grateful that I made the decision, and I am very happy to be here.” Michael also says that Caleb Surratt, who joined Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf team for the 2024 season, had an impact on his decision too: “So, I've had a very good relationship with Caleb Surratt. Not many people know this, but he was committed to NC State at the same time I was. He's from North Carolina, I'm from North Carolina. Growing up, I played a lot of golf with him, and we were very close. “I remember when he first came here, he stayed at my house because he was getting a swing lesson from -- we go to the same instructor. Everything that he had to say, it made me excited. Bryson DeChambeau hosted a clinic today at the International Series India for hundreds of Indian golf fans of all ages. He said about his motivation to travel to the country and play at DLF Golf and Country Club this week: “The ability for golf as really a young sport, but changing from an older sport into a young sport to showcase what golf can mean for the future generations of India. I Gave a Stranger A Golf Lesson 🏌️‍♂️ I was travelling in Denver a couple of weeks ago and decided to go for a morning run As I ran past this guy in the street, he called back and said “No way! Is that you Andy from Me and My Golf”. Of course, I stopped and chatted for a while. This is one of our favourite things about what we do! I asked him to send me some swings through and I would give him some help. It was clear to me that Nick wasn’t really shifting his weight to his lead leg in the downswing. This always leads to lack of compression with irons and often some duff shots ⛳️ If you struggle with this, make sure you get to that impact line as early as possible. Also, if you ever see us in the street or at a golf event, please say hi! You never know, we might even do the same for you. #golflesson #golf

I wasn't even gonna entertain the foolishness.. but you're posting me without telling people the full story. I was a genuine person to you ALWAYS. You looked for content and ways to grow in the community and I genuinely wanted to help. You could've asked ANYONE but chose to ask me. I sat there and gave you advice because I was real enough to. I live in your mind rent free. Instead of worrying about another grown ass person... worry about yourself. I try to tell people this is what blocks people's blessings. Being negative & lying. It was never about a park game and you know that? Why would I care about a virtual game when you pulled up on me and lost the 1st time ANYWAYS. Get it together fr. God don't like ugly 💯

Anthony Kim spoke about his journey after a third round 68 to be solo 3rd at LIV Golf Adelaide: “It's been a hell of a week. Obviously not having a visa to get into this country was the start. I've worked hard, and I knew this day would come at some point. Obviously Bryson is at 20-something under or whatever he is, and he's got a huge lead, but I'm at least putting myself where I feel like I belong, and the practice is paying off.” He then spoke about whether he believed he’d be in this position when he joined the league 2 years ago: “It was always the goal to be in the final group, giving yourself a chance to win a golf tournament, or else I wouldn't have been practicing and playing on this league. Ex US Army Captain Marcus Plunkett, who served in Afghanistan, came through a 36 hole qualifier to make it to The Open, his major debut. Now after rounds of 70 and 71 he is currently inside the projected cut line. After the round, he explained his love of golf: “I grew up playing it as a kid. It's one of the few things that I found that makes me feel alive. When I'm playing competitive golf, especially here at The Open, I am right there in the moment. “I think that's what keeps calling me back to try to get better every day.” This is an exceptional performance from Marcus in his first major.
