More Batteries vs. Submarines Now that the German TKMS and the French Naval Group have massively adopted lithium-ion batteries, following the Japanese lead, this is consolidating as a major trend, just as I had predicted. The next stage will be solid-state batteries, and at that point, we'll essentially be discussing only speed and submerged endurance in comparison to nuclear submarines. Since solid-state batteries are lighter, they will allow for a greater number to be installed, freeing up space for more powerful propulsion systems. Naval Group has already sold a version of the Scorpène to Indonesia capable of remaining submerged for up to 80 days. That's with lithium-ion batteries. Imagine what this could exceed, more than double, with solid-state batteries. In practical terms, a more powerful engine combined with solid-state batteries in the proportions that Naval Group is now using in the Scorpène would provide three times the speed, meaning something like 10–15 knots at constant speed while maintaining around 50 days submerged. This would give a range of 40,000–50,000 km, requiring less than one hour on the surface for a fast recharge. For speeds above 25 knots, simply adding more batteries and a better engine would suffice, as the solid-state system has high power output. All this at 15–20% of the cost of a nuclear submarine. And if the choice is to power the batteries with a micro-reactor, it would cost 25–35% of a conventional nuclear one. Then someone will say: “But a nuclear sub can stay submerged for years.” That makes no difference at all, since even with around 60 days of endurance, the crew still needs to surface to resupply provisions. The big advantages remain: battery-powered subs are superior in silence, and speed can be addressed with larger battery packs.

Maintaining muscle mass, strength, and function as we age becomes critical to our independence and quality of life. Three terms often come up in this discussion: sarcopenia, dynapenia, and powerpenia. Understanding these concepts and their implications can reshape how we think about aging and exercise. Sarcopenia is the age-related loss of muscle mass and function. It is defined by smaller muscles and a diminished ability to perform physical tasks. Sarcopenia is linked to frailty, mobility issues, and an increased risk of falls. However, muscle mass alone is not the most reliable indicator of functional ability. Dynapenia focuses on the loss of muscle strength, independent of muscle size. Strength is essential for tasks like lifting objects or climbing stairs. While strength is a critical component of function, it doesn’t account for the speed or explosiveness required in many real-world activities. Powerpenia is the age-related decline in muscle power, which is strength applied with speed. Power is often overlooked, yet it’s crucial for activities like rising from a chair, catching yourself from a fall, or navigating uneven terrain. Power combines strength with speed, making it the most functionally relevant metric for daily life and mobility. A recent article in Frontiers in Physiology (PMID: 10961295) highlights the critical role of muscle power in preserving functional independence. Research shows that power is more predictive of mobility, balance, and fall prevention than strength or muscle size alone. This finding shifts the focus from simply building muscle to enhancing the quality and speed of movement. Training to improve power—such as explosive movements, plyometric exercises, or lifting lighter weights quickly—can profoundly affect aging populations. The ability to generate force rapidly can mean the difference between a fall and staying upright or between dependence and independence. Sarcopenia, dynapenia, and powerpenia represent interconnected challenges of aging. However, prioritizing muscle power offers a unique opportunity to address the most functionally relevant decline. While maintaining muscle mass and strength is important, integrating power-focused training into your routine may yield the greatest benefits for preserving mobility and preventing disability.

You’re on a journey on this kind of lonely road with your car and your car suddenly develops a fault, You can’t call for help and your lines can’t be reached due to network issues, what do you do? Except the car will stop and the engine won’t come up again, please reduce your speed and accelerate softly till you get to a nearby town, if it is an overheating issue, keep driving, put the gear in the neutral position and switch off the engine and let the car keep moving, switch it back on when you have to ascend a hilly road and the car can’t move freely on its own again. If the battery signal comes up while driving, chances are that your alternator has failed, or the alternator belt is damaged, apply the same method and switch off your AC, radio system or anything that may drain the battery while driving till you get to a safe place. If it is a flat tyre, maintain a low speed till you get to a safe place to change and use your spare, keep moving. Yes!!! Damage that tyre till you get to a safe place, just keep moving and make sure you have a spare tyre always and it is in a good condition. If the engine suddenly goes off on top speed, chances are that a fuse is damaged and this is why I will make a thread on how to identify different fuses and how to have them fixed temporarily in case of Emergencies. If your car jerks or experiences a lazy movement while driving, it’s likely to be a fuel related issue, fuel pump most likely, switch off the engine intermittently and put the gear in Neutral position, keep moving… if the fuel pump rests for about 5mins, it’ll pick up back when you ignite the engine, this will/may at least take you to a safe place or where you can have access to network to make calls. If you hear strange sounds like knocking sounds or the oil signal starts to blink, relax and reduce your speed, keep moving. Manage it till you get to a safe place or can have access to network. If your gear/transmission system isn’t selecting well, apply the same method, reduce your speed but keep moving, slow movement is better than no movement, your life and safety matters a lot. Please note that there are some Mechanical issues that nothing can solve on the road except patience and just to pray to God for safety and help, for example, you run into a pothole unknowingly and the oil pan hits the road and your engine or gear oil leaks away, or your ball joint or tie rod head pulls out, I’ll suggest you leave the car there, roll up your windows and lock up the car and start trekking till you get network or help, staying with the car may make you vulnerable to attacks or attract unexpected company, just keep walking away from the car for safety. Most importantly, please stay safe and be conscious of your environment. Be friendly with your Mechanic too or any Mechanic you see on the road. Don’t manage faults in cars and risk traveling with it.

The video smooth zoom on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is still the closest thing to a professional camcorder experience in the smartphone industry today. In fact, it’s even easier to control than the iPhone. On many other phones, video zooming requires constant finger movement and very precise control. The zoom speed can easily become inconsistent, suddenly speeding up or slowing down. Samsung works differently. You simply hold your finger at a certain position, and the phone continues zooming at a constant speed. The entire process feels extremely stable and linear. It genuinely resembles the powered zoom control of a professional video camera. This logic is fundamentally related to Samsung’s AI slow motion technology. They share the same core foundation: real time control over motion trajectories, speed transitions, and frame interpolation. What you’re seeing here was shot in very windy conditions using Samsung’s Pro Video mode, continuously zooming from 5x to 25x. Aside from some slight stutter during optical lens switching points, the continuous zoom transition within digital zoom ranges is arguably the closest thing to a professional camera currently available on a smartphone. So if the future Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra really removes the 3x telephoto camera, it could actually improve the video zoom experience further. Fewer optical switching points would theoretically reduce transition jumps and stutters, making the entire zoom range feel even more natural and continuous.

Normalise RDL as a main movement. The Romanian Deadlift (RDL) or Heavy Barbell Hip Hinge is a powerhouse exercise that has gained a lot of popularity among strength and conditioning coaches, powerlifters, and bodybuilders alike. This movement is often called an “athlete maker" in my mind due to its ability to build strength, muscle mass, and athleticism in both men and women. One of the primary reasons why the RDL is so effective for athletes is because it is triphasic, for the uninitiated meaning it involves three distinct phases of muscle action: eccentric, isometric, and concentric. During the eccentric phase, the lifter is lowering the weight, which creates tension and stress on the muscles, leading to greater muscle damage and adaptation. The isometric phase occurs when the lifter pauses at the bottom of the lift, holding the weight in a static position, which increases the time under tension and helps to build strength and stability. Finally, during the concentric phase, the lifter raises the weight, activating the muscles in a way that promotes greater hypertrophy. Compared to a traditional deadlift off the floor, the RDL places a greater emphasis on the posterior chain, specifically the proximal hamstring, glutes, and erector spinae muscles. The lift also engages the distal hamstring muscles in a nearly fully extended position, promoting greater muscle activation and strengthening. The RDL is an excellent way to develop strength and hypertrophy in these muscle groups, leading to improved overall athletic performance, including greater power, speed, and explosiveness. Given the numerous benefits of the RDL, it should be a main movement in any training program that aims to improve strength, muscle mass, and overall athletic performance. Incorporating heavy barbell hip hinge movements, such as the RDL, into your training regimen can help to promote better posture, improved mobility, and greater overall strength and athleticism. So, whether you are a powerlifter, bodybuilder, or athlete, consider adding the RDL to your training program to take your strength and athleticism to the next level.

We continue to analyze the technical details of the war with Iran, and we would like to note the Iranian novelty - subsonic barraging anti-aircraft missiles Missile 358, equipped with compact turbojet engines. To some extent unexpectedly, they showed good effectiveness against Israeli reconnaissance and strike UAVs Hermes-900. The key role is played by the thermal homing head: it is able to reliably detect and track a wide range of heat-contrasting targets, including UAVs with various flight profiles. An additional advantage is the command and telemetry channel, which ensures data transmission and allows for radio correction of the trajectory. This is especially important in situations when the target attempts to disrupt the capture with infrared decoys or other means of counteraction. According to the stated parameters, the range of application of Missile 358 reaches about 100 km. At the same time, the maximum interception altitude is about 8.5 km, and the speed is up to 700 km/h, which expands the capabilities of the complex in covering objects and intercepting medium-altitude UAVs. Of course, this is a niche tool, and compared to solid-fuel missiles, the turbojet engine provides exponentially higher flight energy. This allows to dramatically increase the range at low speed, and the mass of the main units of the ammunition, its warhead and control system. On the other hand, this is a solution of necessity, because classic anti-aircraft missiles perfectly hit such high-altitude and slow-moving targets. But for such ammunition, no radar, complex and expensive beam installations are required, which greatly improves its survivability under constant air strikes. And in its niche of targets, there are enough of them, as such UAVs of Israel and the USA are the basis of UCAV, and are constantly over the territory of Iran. So with the 358th ammunition, you can score quite a lot of frags, and significantly complicate air strikes on Iran for the Epstein coalition. Russian Engineer -

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been looking for different ways to access Seedance 2.0. Then TopviewAI told me that their platform supports Seedance 2.0 — and it can also seamlessly combine multiple clips together. I used the prompt below to create this video, and the result is absolutely amazing! Use 🩵Image 1 as the first frame, referencing the character design, outfit color palette, and overall visual style of 🩵Image 1. The girl is performing a high-speed downhill skateboard ride on a winding suburban mountain road. The shot uses a Steadicam follow perspective, with an intense sense of speed throughout. The powerful wind generated by the fast ride makes her hair and clothing whip violently in the air. At the beginning, the girl pushes off with one foot to gain speed, then lowers her body to reduce wind resistance and continues accelerating. The scene features heavy motion blur to emphasize the extreme speed of the skateboard. While riding, she repeatedly shifts her center of gravity downward and leans left and right through multiple turns on the road. As she carves into the corners, the arm on the inside of the turn lowers as if lightly trying to touch the ground. On straight sections, she bends forward, keeps her knees low, and places both hands behind her back to minimize drag. In the distance, fireworks are going off above a seaside town, while a passenger airplane flies across the sky. The overall visual style should be ultra-realistic, with highly lifelike image quality and realistic photographic cinematography. No background music, only environmental sound design.

One player I've really grown to like over the last several months is OF Kane Kepley (Carolina Baseball). Started right away at Liberty where he hit .310/.457/.432 with 13 XBH, but had a breakout summer in the Coastal Plain League to the tune of a .339/.468/.546 slash line with 8 2B, 5 HR, 26 SB and 29 BB to 11 Ks. Carried that momentum over into last season and hit .330/.482/.521 with 12 2B, 9 HR, 25 SB and an impressive 53 BB to just 27 Ks. Kepley then proceeded to have a productive summer on the Cape in which he was named an All-Star. Compact build at 5'8" and 165-pounds with sneaky strength packed into his frame. Crouched stance in the box with a medium-high handset and slightly open front side. Kepley has a minimal load and utilizes a toe tap that leads into a normal stride. With two strikes, Kepley will widen his stance and sit deeper in his base, choke up a bit, and shorten his stride in order to maximize his chances of moving the baseball. Quick hands with present bat speed. Will drop his back side to help create leverage. Overall, it's a compact operation in which he takes an efficient path to contact. Kepley's bat-to-ball skills and hand-eye coordination are outstanding. Last spring at Liberty, he boasted a 90% overall contact rate and a 93% overall IZ contact rate. It was a similar story this summer, as he ran an 89% overall contact rate and a 94% overall IZ contact rate. Kepley's pitch recognition skills and approach are both highly advanced and he rarely expands the strike zone. On the Cape, his overall chase rate was a minuscule 13%. Kepley has high-level barrel skills, a trait that is on display day in and day out. His bat control and adjustability are also advanced. Kepley is capable of using the entire field, but his highest quality of contact does come to the pull side. Hit tool is comfortably a 55, but it's closer to a 60. Kepley without a doubt is a hit-over-power profile, but there is a little bit of thump to the pull side. Has shown the ability to turn on pitches on the inner-half and drive them to the PS. For a player with this kind of profile, he posted respectable Max EVs of 106.1 and 101 during the spring and summer, respectively. Below-average power, but he'll run into a ball on occasion and hit 10+ HRs this spring. Not only is Kepley a plus runner, he most importantly knows HOW to run and get the most out of his legs. Quick first step and really advanced baseball sense both translate to the base paths where he's a chaos causer and speeds up the game for opposing teams. Kepley's speed also allows him to take an extra base on a ball in the gap or down the line. Across 179 games between college and summer ball, Kepley is 89-for-97 on stolen base attempts. Kepley this spring will rove CF for North Carolina. His speed and instincts plays at the position and he has gap-to-gap range with solid closing speed. Gets good reads off the bat. Kepley's arm is fringy, but his overall defensive skillset will give him the opportunity to prove he can stick at the position professionally. Versatile enough to play all 3 OF spots. Kepley is an old-fashioned baseball rat who plays at one speed. Selfless, high-energy player who can affect the game in a myriad of ways. A little reminiscent of Tommy Hawke. Top-5 round type this July.

Is strength important for speed development? Here’s my take ⤵️⤵️ For context — this is me cleaning 295 lbs at 167 lbs body weight and I credit my abilities in the weight room largely for helping my collegiate career flourish the way it did However… We can’t lift at the expense of speed training and development What that means is when we enter the weight room we can’t do so with blinders on acting as if the only thing in the world that matters is that weight training session or improving your 1RM YES… you need force to move your body through space YES… that force needs to be high relative to your body weight BUT… you must be a skilled mover to apply said force in the right positions, at the right times, with the right vectors for it to mean anything While important to holistic athletic development, we’ve got to stop acting like strength is the ultimate differentiator in speed Lot of “weak” athletes will blow your doors off in sprints Lot of “strong” athletes get folded in speed & power sports Go into the weight room with the idea that you’re complementing your speed and athletic development… not superseding it If your legs are so beaten and broken down from lifting heavy you can’t train for 2-3 days without excessive risk, you’re doing it all wrong. Just some perspective from someone who once pursued 1RMs to no end while my track times stagnated… and then was enlightened by world class coaches who lifted within the context of my sport to take me from a college tryout to D1 All American What’re your thoughts? Let’s discuss in the comments!

👀Connecting your coaching eye to your clinical reasoning! Observe the leg cycle of the leg closest to the camera on each drill. Can you see small medium then big elliptical on the right limb and very limited ones on the left? What does limb movement and synergies say about muscle properties and pelvic structure ? Does “technique” matter? Well only if you want to load specific tissues and create protective system tension. We had a really interesting 10.6 sprinter with repeated right side hamstring strains over the past year join our hamstring workshop. UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic 💪🏾Isokinetic tests have him really really strong on both limbs. 🔋Emg told a story of right side dominance and good lateral to medial hamstring balance whilst the left side was far more imbalanced with medial hamstrings dominating action that we assumed the lateral would. 🧐When we went on to the track, we saw similar things. 🚩Notably a reluctance to open up into late swing phase, avoiding long lever eccentric stress on the distal hamstrings…. ON THE LEFT LEG! Well this was noticed across a range of exercises velocities and complexities. 🏃🏾‍♀️ Drills with speed and locomotion, static fast drills as well as static slow drills. 🧐Movement illuminates structural qualities. 🧐Can you spot the difference in these two leg cycles? Could it be that the right side is repeatedly hurt due to the deficit in the left side. After all, if you can’t integrate late swing phase, then you will have poor negative foot speed. You will be able to accelerate…. But all the work will be on the right side the deeper you get into a sprint. Ed Mias Sportsmith
