Farage is missing the point - perhaps intentionally. The move to net zero is an economic opportunity first and foremost - it’s about jobs (new and better paid) and GDP growth. It’s not about chipping in to global efforts on carbon because we should. It’s about not being left behind in this global green economic revolution - it’s about acting in our own best interests - as opposed to being obliged by 'net zero wokery' - as he would like to portray it. This is misdirection.

To build the renewables needed to achieve Net Zero by 2050, at current production rates, it would take nearly 10,000 years to mine enough lithium, more than 7,000 years for enough vanadium, over 1,700 years for cobalt, 400 years for nickel and almost 200 years for the copper. You mean like increasing carbon taxes on us, making us spend billions on uneconomical carbon capture as a prerequisite, signing up to all net zero green agenda stuff that will bring billions in costs to our industries? He is so delusional that he has no self reflection.

Asking Ed Miliband What commitments were secured at COP30 from the countries responsible for the highest amounts of carbon emissions - China, America & India - to reduce their emissions, given their leaders Xi, Trump and Modi couldn’t be bothered to attend? Or did those countries fail to commit to reducing their carbon emissions and to phase out their use of fossil fuels allowing instead the Secretary of State to walk his ideological path of net zero which is destroying the UK’s industrial and manufacturing base and pushing our population into poverty with ever higher energy bills? Amazingly he said he didn’t agree with the second part of the question! Doesn’t he see what is happening in the country? Doesn’t he know the cost of energy in the UK?
