Tarsus is an environment created for Virtual Production by Level Designer and Environment Artist Bibhab Raj Joshi. Based on a real-life landscape in Türkiye, the environment is 1:1 in scale. The arch, crafted by 3D Artist Seongmin Shin, is made to look as it may have in its prime and lighting is provided by 3D Lighting Artist Zhifan Wang. "The new voxel-based nanite foliage is significantly more optimized. This Roman Real-Time Environment is a project by Junior 3D Artist Davide Maddalo for presentation in Unreal Engine 5. Modelled mainly in Maya, the project was a practice in exploring the full real-time pipeline with a focus on how all aspects, from assets to lighting, work together. "One feature I found particularly useful while working on this environment was tri-planar mapping. I learned how it can help project textures consistently across surfaces without relying entirely on traditional UV mapping, which was especially useful for creating more flexible and natural-looking materials within the environment." - Davide Maddalo

The WoodLand Pizzeria is a project in a hand-painted art style from EanWinnie to help them explore procedural workflows. Inspired by an illustration from Japanese artist Nonohara, the scene is reinterpreted as an explorable 3D environment. "One thing I found especially useful during this project was using UE’s PCG framework to create the snow-covered version of the environment. I used PCG to create the snow-covered assets needed throughout the entire scene. Compared to manually creating each snow-covered asset individually, this made iteration much faster and saved me a significant amount of time. I also used custom materials and shaders to control colors, values, and surface response, helping maintain a consistent hand-painted look across different lighting and seasonal conditions." - Shuming Zhang Check out the project on ArtStation:

Restricted: Sublevel Quarantine is an environment project by Lead Environment Artist Doru Bogdan and inspired by the Metro game series. The creation utilizes UE5's MegaLights, Nanite Displacement, Texture Blending and more 🚧 "My spline-based tunnel modular meshes kept flickering and distorting from a distance. I thought it needed more geometry, but no matter how many subdivisions I added, it stayed broken. Nothing worked. Turns out, the meshes were too straight and uniform! Nanite didn't like the perfectly flat surfaces. Adding a little random noise to the mesh geometry fixed the breakdown completely. Sometimes, perfection is the problem" - Doru Bogdan

Stuck in Roots by Lighting Artist Karim Yasser is an environment made using Unreal Engine 5.5.1 which takes us deep into the woods 🌳 The creation of this project is rooted in Quixel Megascans assets, unique meshes made with Unreal's modelling tools, Lumen and Nanite. Through these tools, Karim was able to approach the project like a canvas to create a more stylized look with higher quality lighting on.

The scene was crafted from scratch, including props, vegetation, textures, VFX, landscape and buildings. In addition to this, the main character was created in VRoid Studio, the modeling and texturing of the Yak was done by 3D Artist Guilherme Miles and the art direction was handled by Concept Artist Dan Vitoria. "I built this project from scratch, using mostly information freely available on the internet. Planning and persistence were crucial to achieving this result. Unreal Engine’s native tools made my work much easier, such as the Vertex Paint tool for texturing the house walls and the Niagara System for creating real-time waterfalls." - Lucas Cavalcanti
