More changes are underway for federal student loans, with major implications for current and future graduate students. A federal judge has temporarily blocked parts of the Education Department’s new loan limits, including restrictions affecting some professional degree programs. William Brangham speaks to D Douglas-Gabriel for more.

Donald Trump is making major changes that will ban colleges from the Federal Student Loan Program and all federal financial aid if the programs at that college don't pass the earnings test “They are putting together a new earnings threshold test that says Bachelor degree program graduates have to earn more than the median high school graduate in your state 4 years after graduation. And when it comes to grad school programs, they have to earn more than bachelor's degree graduates for that same type of field in that state within 4 years after their graduate school program. He’s a British-born researcher who focuses on countering online hate and misinformation, but the Trump administration accuses him of trying to censor viewpoints that he does not agree with. Here's why that's a good thing.” They explain how predatory colleges have become and how by taking away the funding for these programs it’ll force schools to lower their prices and make college cheaper “When the government stops providing taxpayer-funded loans to these programs, it keeps students from making a bad investment, and it incentivizes colleges to either lower prices or reform these programs to make them better.
