Does LLM really need to be a helpful assistant all the time? No. If you want to simulate people, “perfectly helpful” could be the wrong objective. Meet OdysSim, a journey toward LLMs beyond assistants, as behavioral foundation models (10B tokens of real human behavior; 23 sim benchmarks, finally in one place. new open models: outperform or on par with GPT-5.5, Gemini 3.1, or Claude Opus 4.7 in many behavior-sim dimensions). Human behavior simulation is becoming essential. Agent evaluation needs realistic users before real users show up. Medical and classroom training need realistic patients and students. Social science needs synthetic participants at scale. But real people are not ideal assistants. Real patients panic or ignore good advice. Real students misunderstand. Real customers are vague, picky, impatient, or simply leave. Human behavior is messy, diverse, and often imperfect. Frontier LLMs are getting better at math, code, and long-horizon tasks. They are NOT getting better at simulating human behavior. If anything, they drift the other way: more assistant-ish, more homogeneous, fewer of the errors and quirks real humans show. This is no accident. The whole pipeline is built for helpfulness and task success, not behavioral realism. And you can't prompt your way out of that. So we rethink the recipe from scratch and release: 🧠 The OdysSim corpus: 21.4M real human interactions (~10B tokens) from 62 sources, every conversation retrofitted with social grounding (who is talking, and why) 📏 SOUL-Index: 23 human-behavior benchmarks unified into one suite across 5 axes 🤖 OSim-8B: open weights; tops more SOUL-Index benchmarks than any frontier model, acts more like a real user than any of them on τ-bench (nearly matching real humans in the reaction dimension), and writes far more human-like text along the way.

I was in the fast lane when an Ertiga from the opposite side suddenly took a U-turn at an emergency gap where it’s clearly not allowed. He didn’t slow down, didn’t check traffic, just kept moving while turning and almost rammed into me. This kind of reckless behavior is dangerous enough, but the lack of proper barricading makes it worse. Strict action is needed. Sharing this so people stay alert this tunnel is a daily route for many. #driveresponsibly

Seeing videos of students hugging and kissing openly on school premises after completing secondary school is quite disappointing. Celebrating the end of school is understandable, but there should still be a sense of decency, self-respect, and respect for the environment they are in. What is even more worrying is how comfortable some young people have become displaying intimate behavior in public without any regard for those around them. Schools are meant to instill discipline, values, and good conduct, not encourage actions that many would consider inappropriate.

Midjourney sref + Sora 2 Pro is the sauce. With one Midjourney style image, you can give a specific style for your entire project. I created two different 12-second clips and edited them together. Some details aren’t fully consistent, like the iPod or AirPods because the clips were made separately from a single image (Character in a specific style). It could be fixed in post-production, but that would take more time, and this was more of an experimental test. It would be great to add the actual product image with the current one to maintain product consistency. I feel like if there were a way to add 2–4 images into this workflow, it could open up a lot more possibilities and consistency. With an API, it could be possible. Or let’s see what Veo 3.1 has to offer.

SITREP: Iron Will is being released on his own recognizance (kinda) for good behavior! Monitoring required. Oxygen levels are staying stable and he’s responding well to all the other treatments. And he’s getting more animated the closer he gets to the front door! Oh, and guess what he is asking for, “when we get home?”… It’s a daunting task, but our goal now is to isolate him from the flu ravaging the rest of our posterity to the extent possible. And to strengthen those little lungs. I can’t adequately express my appreciation for the prayers, thoughts and kind words from all of you. It moves me tremendously every time the wee little man is ailing and all of you step up! More on that in my next post! #IronWill #DownSyndrome #TeamIronWill

We introduce Difference-Aware Retrieval Policies for Imitation Learning (DARP), a simple, semi-parametric RAG architecture for imitation learning that achieves gains of up to 200% over standard behavior cloning. We all smoke our way, for now I have mastered the art of the glass tip cone style. It’s not a specialty roll by any means, but it’s consistent for me. I don’t have the fine hand coordination nor the patience to fuck up a hand roll when I can do this pretty easily and it smokes as proper as a good hand roll. When I have more time away from serving, I’ll practice hand rolling but this is how I smoke.
