Nvidia is now a humanoid robot designer. That's the real takeaway from this news. Nvidia is acquiring Hugging Face for $12.93B. Hugging Face is the largest open-model and dataset hub, the "GitHub of AI," with 3M+ models and 18M+ developers, robotics included. But here's the interesting part: Hugging Face has a serious robotics team from its acquisition of Pollen Robotics, which designs and builds open-source hardware platforms for robots, including humanoids (Reachy). Pollen team now gets the backing of the world's most valuable company. $NVDA

Robotics has a data problem, and egocentric data is a compelling way to solve it because egocentric data is (1) scalable — it’s cheap to collect — and (2) easily captures the breadth and diversity of real human tasks, while (3) being true to real physics. Lightwheel recently released a hundred thousand hours of high-quality egocentric video data, spread across a wide range of human tasks from cleaning and tidying to assembly and construction to retail tasks. We are publishing our first deep dive on what we believe is one of the most challenging layers in egocentric data - SLAM and VIO in the context of long-horizon state tracking. We break down how SLAM and VIO fail in egocentric settings - visual features vanish at close range, depth sensors saturate, fast head motion blurs frames, and these failures don't always occur in isolation. They hit at the exact same moment, leading to compounding errors and making the downstream data unusable. We believe the foundation for high-quality egocentric data demands sub-centimeter precision over long episodes ranging from a few minutes to up to an hour.

We present EgoReAct: Real-time 3D human reaction generation from streaming egocentric video. 🌟Reacting to streaming egocentric video is something humans do every day. We hope EgoReAct makes human motion more human-like. 🔎 What we found: existing ego-reaction data can be spatially inconsistent (e.g., moving reactions paired with fixed-camera videos), which breaks 3D grounding. 📷 What we built: HRD, a spatially aligned egocentric video–reaction dataset (3,500 pairs, 32 categories), plus a spatially aligned ViMo fix for fair evaluation.
