As I recall Microsoft and Blackberry dismissed the iPhone all together. Google was the only one that went back to the drawing board
That's why they don't exist in smartphone market today

miss those days 🥹
You had me at scrolling.
Then came the iClones 😁
It looks tiny.
I wouldn't call it father of all smartphones or their OSs. There was this thing called Symbian which existed at the time.
They were not smartphones, im talking about smartphones here, not keypad phones
Resourceful
The Danger Phone was the innovator before this. Honestly the iPhone 3 sucked. The 3S was better though.

![Tim Cook: "The philosophy [at Apple] has always been to be the best — not the first." "The iPod was not the first MP3 player. It was arguably the best and arguably the first modern one — but not the first. The iPhone was not the first smartphone. BlackBerry was shipping phones. Palm was shipping phones. iPhone was the first modern smartphone. If you look at iPad, tablets were shipping a decade before [that]. Yet, iPad arguably was the first modern tablet — and the first one that met any level of commercial success."](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2094917214403203481/amplify_video_thumb/2094559857118482432/img/xFLo5yXCe5220BAy.jpg)
