i just dont get why you dont have a mode where you dedicate your life (ranked/tournaments) to the juicy nuances of the game, and then have a bunch of casual modes for people who dont want to spend effort or time but still want to enjoy the game. so many other games do this right.

yeah, unfortunately the barrier to entry with fighting games is significantly higher than most other genres since getting even a slight hint of what makes them enjoyable requires practice. this isn't really something you need to do with something like an fps for example

Yup as a gamedev I would never make a fighting game, not only would it cost a lot of money to animate all the characters, but I would also be super dependant on having a constant stream of players coming in
