We are escalating enforcement against environmental infractions, especially in markets and known black spots. Traders at Alaba Rago have until tomorrow evening to clear all infractions or face full closure. The time for warnings is over. We will no longer tolerate trading on drainage setbacks or road medians. Residents must take ownership of public infrastructure - bag waste properly, subscribe to PSP operators, and stop dumping refuse illegally. The President, is building a bridge linking Benue State and Taraba State, yet people in these places are not posting about it. A lot of the projects the President is executing across Nigeria are not being highlighted by residents. Why? You don’t post what he is doing in your city or appreciate it, yet you complain that nothing is being done. Just recently, the Abuja–Kaduna highway has been trending, yet hardly anyone based there is posting about it. That’s not fair. You cannot ignore ongoing projects and then claim the President is doing nothing in your city,it’s not criticism, it’s misinformation. For example, I choose to appreciate what the President is doing in Lagos because it is visible and impactful. The road networks being developed on the island will reduce travel time, improve productivity, and make life easier for residents. When the government does something good, I will say it. Yes, there is inflation, and the government should work towards reducing the cost of living so Nigerians can thrive better. But it is still important to acknowledge the good being done. Please highlight projects in your own cities. Thank you, Mr. President, for your efforts. I know it is taxpayers’ money, but I still choose to appreciate it. We have begun clearing the illegal shanties and market stalls built along the median of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. As we rebuild the Lagos-Badagry Expressway into a modern 10-lane highway, we cannot allow its median to become a market, a settlement or a site for illegal structures. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to trade, build makeshift shops or live on the median of a major highway. It is unsafe, illegal and unacceptable. We often compare Lagos with some of the world’s leading cities and ask why we cannot be like them. The truth is that those cities work because people respect public infrastructure and obey the rules. We cannot expect a world-class city while refusing to show the discipline needed to keep one. Dumping waste indiscriminately or building illegal structures along our highways will not move us forward. If we want a cleaner, safer and more organised Lagos, discipline and personal responsibility must become part of our everyday culture. That is how we build a city we can all be proud of.

So, this is one of the most detailed videos of the Lagos Blue Line phase 2. It’s quite lengthy, but I encourage you to watch it till the end. The prioritisation of Rail transportation by the Sanwo-Olu-led administration is beautiful to see. This particular corridor is a major international trading corridor, with many Nigerian and Asian traders operating along it. Even the road you see is expected to be transformed into a 10-lane superhighway, which the governor has already hinted at. That is why some areas, including sections occupied by traders, are being cleared. The Blue Line runs from Marina to Okokomaiko. The first phase is already operational, while work on the second phase is ongoing. The extension will serve stations at Mile 2, Festac, Alakija, Volkswagen, Alaba International Market, Trade Fair, LASU and Okokomaiko. These stations will serve traders, 9-to-5 workers, small businesses, visitors and residents along the corridor. The line covers LG areas including Amuwo-Odofin, Ojo, Oriade and Orile Iganmu, among others. Many people living along this corridor commute daily to work on the Island, while others depend on the major markets along the route. I really commend the government for this multi-billion-dollar investment in rail transportation. However, rail does not replace road infrastructure. The next administration must make road rehabilitation a major priority. In the first four years, there should be a determined effort to get Lagos roads into best conditions. Why? Because many rail users are 9-to-5 workers, small business owners and visitors, but major investors, CEOs and top executives will still drive. When you bring investors into a city, the roads, environment, landscaping, greenery, public spaces and overall appearance all matter. The Green Line is another example. Its Phase 1A will have about eight stations, with flyovers and pedestrian infrastructure helping to separate road traffic and pedestrian movement from the rail corridor totally 8 U shaped Flyovers and Pedestrian sky walks. The more quality road infrastructure we have, the better the quality of life in Lagos. This is why the next administration should prioritise roads, bridges, public transportation, cleanliness, beautification and public spaces together. Ensure the BRT works properly, ensure the trains run efficiently, but please don't neglect the environment. Sometimes Govt wonder why Lagosians don't appreciate government projects despite the huge investments being made. The answer is simple: people judge government by how their quality of life changes in real time. Lagos has a massive population and serious congestion problems. Every new road, bridge, flyover, public space or environmental improvement directly affects millions of people. Every government must study its environment and understand what its people actually need. In Lagos, road infrastructure is not a luxury,it is one of our biggest needs. So I want to encourage the government to start flagging off more road projects urgently, continue the bridges that have already started, and find ways to fund and complete them quickly eg the VGC Bridge. If we can combine the Green Line, Blue Line, Red Line, BRT, new roads, bridges, flyovers and a cleaner, better-maintained environment, the quality of life in Lagos will skyrocket. When you bring investors into a city, the roads, environment, landscaping, greenery, public spaces and overall appearance all matter. The Green Line is another example. Its Phase 1A will have about eight stations, with flyovers and pedestrian infrastructure helping to separate road traffic and pedestrian movement from the rail corridor totally 8 U shaped Flyovers and Pedestrian sky walks. The more quality road infrastructure we have, the better the quality of life in Lagos. This is why the next administration should prioritise roads, bridges, public transportation, cleanliness, beautification and public spaces together. Ensure the BRT works properly, ensure the trains run efficiently, but please don't neglect the environment. Sometimes Govt wonder why Lagosians don't appreciate government projects despite the huge investments being made. The answer is simple: people judge government by how their quality of life changes in real time. Lagos has a massive population and serious congestion problems. Every new road, bridge, flyover, public space or environmental improvement directly affects millions of people. Every government must study its environment and understand what its people actually need. In Lagos, road infrastructure is not a luxury,it is one of our biggest needs. So I want to encourage the government to start flagging off more road projects urgently, continue the bridges that have already started, and find ways to fund and complete them quickly eg the VGC Bridge. If we can combine the Green Line, Blue Line, Red Line, BRT, new roads, bridges, flyovers and a cleaner, better-maintained environment, the quality of life in Lagos will skyrocket. This government is doing a lot. Let’s get the remaining basics right too.
