The Trump administration is back at the Supreme Court trying to let new Postal Service rules take effect before the midterms, including barcodes on envelopes, real tracking, and a portal for mail voter lists. CNN’s Betsy Klein wraps the whole thing in the usual lecture about “unsubstantiated claims,” as if wanting a clear chain of custody is an attack on democracy itself. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing the implementation of President Trump's order targeting mail-in voting ahead of the midterms. The new mail-in ballot procedure: 1. States provide a list of the ballots they intend to mail out. 2. USPS assigns a unique barcode to each. 3. When the ballot is mailed out, the barcode is scanned to ensure uniqueness and that it matches. • If there is no match or it’s a duplicate, it is not delivered. 4. When the voter mails the ballot back, the USPS scans it again and checks to make sure it matches what went out and isn’t a duplicate. • Any ballots that don’t match won’t be delivered. 5. The barcode check is completely done on the exterior envelope. • The USPS isn’t determining eligibility or deciding who gets a ballot. • They can’t see the actual votes. • They are essentially just ensuring there are no duplicates, that the number mailed in isn’t greater than the number mailed out, and that the person mailing one in was the same person who received them. This process is a total common sense solution since states are continuing to insist on mail-in ballots. Of course, the Democrats and Socialists are rejecting this. They fought it hard and that is why SCOTUS had to rule on it!

Every American deserves to know their vote counts and their vote is protected. We cannot keep running elections through a system that has been compromised for who knows how long. Voter ID, paper ballots, no machines, no mail-in ballots. These are not radical ideas. They are common sense. Most of the world does it this way. But I haven’t seen anything that gives me confidence we should sit around and hope the courts save us.
