Nolan caught an early cut of 'MUD' via producer Aaron Ryder — before the McConaissance was consensus. He pitched McConaughey while the actor was mid-shoot on 'TRUE DETECTIVE.'

You showed a terrible clip to show off his acting ability. He says what? 3 words?

I recently rewatched it. It completely blew my mind! So good👌 so “simple” in production, but so complex in writing and acting ✨

Matthew McConaughey admitted he didn’t know his character’s full name in Interstellar (2014). “Maybe I did… but I don’t right now. Chris Nolan. Cooper. Do you know?” he joked. When told it was Joseph Cooper, he laughed, “How about that? I don’t know if I knew that.”

Christopher Nolan had only one actor in mind for Tesla in The Prestige: David Bowie. He personally reached out, believing only Bowie could bring the needed mystery. Bowie first refused but changed his mind after meeting Nolan.

Christopher Nolan reveals the first time an actor said no to him was David Bowie, and he had to personally beg him to change his mind. Jimmy Fallon: Have you ever gotten a “no”? Christopher Nolan: Have I ever gotten a “no”? Yeah, I have. Jimmy Fallon: Besides me when I said I didn’t want to do Batman. Christopher Nolan: The only “no” I’ll admit to is David Bowie for The Prestige. He was my great idol, and I thought he’d be perfect to play Nikola Tesla. Christopher Nolan: We sent him the script and everything, and he said no. It was the first time I ever went back and said, “Can I just go and meet him? Can I try and convince him in the room?” Christopher Nolan: They agreed, so I quickly wrote him a better speech for his first appearance, showed up with a new script, and basically begged. I managed to turn that “no” into a “yes.” Jimmy Fallon: Yes! But you did get a “no” from the coolest kid in school.

Timothée Chalamet about the ‘Interstellar’ Screening with Christopher Nolan: “The whole experience with Nolan, I felt totally like 17 again. I went home, it was shocking. I don't know, anybody here was at that Interstellar spot? That was a crazy car ride home for me, because I was like, 'Holy shit', I feel like the 13 years having elapsed. The way he was cracking jokes backstage. We were taking pictures together. I didn't post it yet. I'm going to post it tonight or tomorrow. He throws me a headlock and starts hitting me with a noogie [...] I said 'Chris, I'm a 30-year-old man'. He says 'Not to me, you're not!'.”

Christopher Nolan always refused to explain the ending of Interstellar (2014). Some fans believed Cooper never reunited with his daughter and it was imaginary. Nolan said “You have to see it yourself. It's there. I know what I think but it’s no more valid than yours.”

Christopher Nolan never explained the ending of Interstellar (2014). When asked if Cooper’s reunion with his daughter was real, he said, “You have to see it yourself. It's there. I know what I think but it’s no more valid than yours.” The emotion matters more than the answer.

Christopher Nolan initially declined to incorporate The Batmobile in BATMAN BEGINS. It wasn't until a studio executive insisted that he chose to reinvent The Batmobile as The Tumbler, a hybrid between a Lamborghini and a Humvee. I saw The Tumbler in Chicago. It was a beast.
