Brain-controlled exoskeletons to train humanoid robots! 🧠 Fourier just presented human tele-operators using brain control interfaces and exoskeletal arms to train humanoid robots on home tasks. The brain control interface is the interesting part. Instead of using a controller or joystick to teleoperate, the operator's movements and intentions are captured more naturally through the exoskeleton and BCI. This means the demonstrations are more fluid, more human-like, and better suited for training robots to perform delicate home tasks. Multiple tele-operators are simultaneously generating training data across multiple robots. This is how you build the dataset needed for eventual full autonomy, without waiting years for it to arrive. This might be the bridge between "robots that work in controlled environments" and "robots that work in homes." Not full autonomy right away, but trusted human intelligence operating through a robot body, getting better with every task completed. ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Robots are coming for one of agriculture's most delicate jobs. Picking berries! 🍓 This is Fieldwork Robotics' Fieldworker 1 platform, designed to autonomously harvest raspberries at speeds comparable to human workers. That might sound simple, but berry picking is one of the hardest challenges in agricultural robotics. The robot needs to identify ripe fruit, avoid damaging fragile berries, and operate efficiently in a constantly changing environment. Fieldworker 1 uses custom AI systems and spectral analysis to assess ripeness and is designed so that a single operator can supervise multiple robots in the field. Agriculture continues to face labor shortages across many regions, while growers are under pressure to improve productivity and reduce waste. That's creating a strong demand for automation solutions that can work alongside existing operations. Fieldwork is already running trials with Costa Group, one of Australia's largest fruit growers, and joins a growing group of companies proving that robotic harvesting is moving from research projects into commercial deployments. That's a great market to look out for robotic solutions. ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Turning video into humanoid robot motion! 🤳🏼 Training humanoid robots needs huge amounts of motion data, but real-world capture doesn’t scale. Mocap is expensive, dangerous edge cases are rare, and you can’t ask humans to repeatedly fall or crash. Video2Robot tackles this by converting videos into physics-grounded humanoid simulations. Motion is generated to respect balance, inertia, ground contact, and joint limits, then directly retargeted to robot simulators. One prompt can generate a full humanoid motion sequence, including multi-agent interactions and failure cases like falls or collisions, scenarios that are hard or impossible to capture safely in the real world. The pipeline is model-agnostic and works with existing video generators, making it a practical way to scale data for robots. If robots are going to operate in the real world, they need to be trained on the failures too, not just the perfect demos. These aquatic robots are more advanced than they look!🐬 Early versions developed by Walt Disney Imagineering started as simple underwater drones, essentially radio-controlled machines, using jet pumps for propulsion and servo motors for control. Functional, but clearly nothing new. Then came the biomimetic stuff. Larger prototypes began mimicking dolphins, using fins instead of propellers to create smooth, organic motion. Servos control vertical and lateral movement, making them move much closer to real animals than traditional underwater drones. The latest invention is autonomous hydrofoils. These platforms use GPS, ultrasonic sensors, and self-balancing control to follow precise trajectories on water, enabling synchronized, repeatable motion for large-scale shows. That's so cool! 😎 ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Robotics is entering the mainstream! 👀 Let's accept this fact. Consumptionism – stonks. Possibilities (HW + SW) – stonks. Demographics - not stonks. Modern robots are often designed to interact with our legacy world, whether it's a household, a factory, or a shipyard. That means they often need to work with existing machines, tools, and spaces. In short: retrofitting. Improving old machines with new technologies without major interference in their operation. Modern way of integrating things. You don't have to change the entire environment to deploy a robot. The robot will adapt, just as human would when freshly hired. The promise is to have an army of robots to help with the world designed for us. I also believe that general purpose robots, are not a direct competition for single purpose machines (like a highly efficient specialized packaging machine, for example). It's like adding a robot to this carriage. Specialized machine could be a car ;) ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Robots that climb skyscrapers to clean and inspect them! 🧼 Verobotics has built autonomous robots that clean and scan building exteriors, allowing building owners to proactively maintain and upkeep their buildings faster, cheaper, and smarter. The problem is decades old. The only way to clean or inspect a building's exterior has been to lower a person from a BMU (Building Maintenance Unit) at the top of the building. BMUs are heavy, can be out of service, complicated to operate, and limit cleaning to a couple of times per year. Their robots are lightweight, portable, and need no equipment on the roof. One person can deploy multiple robots to the building's facades and let the robots do the rest. Once they're done, the building owner not only has a clean building but also a digital twin of the building exterior for documenting health and identifying issues before they become risks. Robot spots a crack? Noted! They're equipped with onboard cameras that scan the surface, detect window frames to crawl over, and ensure not a spot is missed. That means a consistent result and thorough inspection every time. Onboard sensors continuously detect motion, location, and the surface beneath and around it. The data feeds to a hub that analyzes the surface in real time, building datasets that become the backbone of a digital twin for predictive maintenance. Love seeing the specialized robots bringing value from day 0! :) ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

🔥 JUST IN: Open-source robotics dataset from 100% real-world scenarios! 🤯 Chinese robotics company AGIBOT just released AGIBOT WORLD 2026, an open-source dataset systematically covering key embodied AI research directions. Built entirely from real-world environments: commercial spaces, and homes. Collected using AGIBOT G2 robots in free-form collection mode, providing structured, accurately annotated, high-quality data. Digital twin technology creates 1:1 scale replicas in simulation matching the real environments. Both real-world and simulation data are open-sourced. The AGIBOT G2 platform collects multiple data types simultaneously: RGB(D) cameras, tactile sensors, force sensors, LiDAR, IMU, and full-body joint states. Whole-body control coordinates arms, waist, and hands for complex tasks. First-person teleoperation lets operators control the robot from its perspective. The tasks covered are fine-grained manipulation, ultra-long-horizon tasks, spatial navigation, dual-arm coordination, and multi-agent/human-robot collaboration. The dataset includes error-recovery trajectories with annotations. Most datasets only show successful demonstrations. AGIBOT includes failures and how the robot recovers, teaching models how to handle mistakes. After collection, data is tested through policy training and real-robot deployment to ensure quality. Then processed through industrial quality control with multiple screening and cleaning rounds. Making it open-source accelerates embodied AI research by giving researchers access to high-quality real-world robot data at scale. 🇨🇳 Learn more here: ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Robots moving railcars! 🚃 Did you know that KUKA is also in the mobile robots business? Yes, you heard that right. And not just any robots. Robots that carry up to 56 tons! 🏋🏼 The railcar production process is highly complex, particularly when moving massive cars sideways within a plant. This challenge has been addressed at the Siemens facility in Germany using the OmniMove system from KUKA. The system allows for precise positioning, enabling the units to lift, move, and lower railcars with remarkable accuracy. With Mecanum wheels, the OmniMove units can move seamlessly in any direction, making the process incredibly efficient. Together, these units are capable of lifting up to 56 tons, streamlining heavy railcar production. This one is clearly tele-operated, but just looking at it makes me feel safer when I see a human in the loop. What a great use case for mobile robots! 😮‍💨 ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Robots might learn better from video than from language! 📼 Most Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models learn what to do from text, but still struggle with how things move in the real world. That makes them data-hungry and slow to train. mimic video takes a different route. Instead of grounding robot control in text, it grounds it in video, using large pre-trained video models that already capture physical motion and dynamics. The idea is straightforward: let the video model handle “what will happen next,” and let a smaller control model focus only on turning that visual plan into robot actions. The result is big gains in practice. Robots trained this way need 10× less data, converge twice as fast, and perform better on both simulated benchmarks and real bimanual manipulation tasks. If robots can “imagine” motion using video, control becomes a much simpler problem. Shoutout to Jonas Pai, Liam Achenbach, Oier Mees, Elvis Nava and the rest of the team! Japan Just Built a HouseBot You Control Without Speaking and It Changes Everything! Donut Robotics has officially unveiled its first bipedal humanoid, Cinnamon 1, and instead of focusing on louder voices or bigger motors, the company went in the opposite direction. Silence. Cinnamon 1 introduces what Donut Robotics calls Silent Gesture Control, a system that allows the humanoid to be guided using simple hand and finger movements rather than spoken commands. This approach feels especially well suited for real world environments where traditional voice control falls apart. Busy factory floors. Construction sites filled with constant noise. Even quiet indoor settings where voice commands feel awkward or intrusive. It also opens the door for far more accessible human robot interaction, particularly for users with impairments. While the current Cinnamon 1 hardware is built on an OEM platform, the intelligence driving it is where Donut Robotics is placing its long term bet. The team is actively developing custom Vision Language Action AI that allows the robot to interpret what it sees, understand intent, and respond with physical action. The goal is not just smarter robots, but robots that feel more natural. Even more ambitious is the company’s plan for full domestic production. Donut Robotics has stated its intention to localize both manufacturing and AI development in Japan, reinforcing the country’s reputation for precision engineering and thoughtful robotics design. If timelines hold, Cinnamon 1 units are expected to begin deployment in factories and construction environments by the end of 2026. That puts this humanoid squarely in the category of near term reality rather than distant concept. The takeaway is simple but important. As humanoid robots move out of labs and into daily work environments, the winners may not be the loudest or flashiest machines. They may be the ones that understand us without a word being spoken.

JUST IN: Unitree Robotics just unveiled the GD01, a manned "mecha" robot that transforms between two legs and four legs in real time. This is not a concept. This is a product. Starting price: $574,000. This robot weighs 500kg, is built from high-strength alloy, and has a torso-mounted cockpit. The demo video shows it walking upright, knocking down a brick wall with its hand, then reconfiguring into a four-legged crawl. Unitree calls it the world's first mass-produced transformable mecha. But the real story here is the bigger picture. Chinese companies accounted for nearly 90% of global humanoid robot sales in 2025. Unitree alone shipped 5,500+ humanoid robots last year. In the same period, Tesla, Figure AI and Agility Robotics each shipped around 150. And Unitree is now filing for an IPO on Shanghai's Star Market, targeting 4.2 billion yuan, 85% of which goes straight into R&D. The West is building incredible humanoid robots. China is building them faster, cheaper and at a scale nobody else is close to matching. Read more here: ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Magnetic levitation for surgical robots! 🧲 A research team working on minimally invasive surgery just introduced a remote magnetic levitation to move things inside our bodies. Their main goal is to control guidewires and catheters inside the body using magnetic fields. But levitation is unstable and extreme, it forces them to solve fundamental control problems they can't avoid. They have to handle strong magnetic field nonlinearities, develop real-time invertible models, and create control methods that work on any eMNS (electroMagnetic Navigation System) and any object. The real challenge is the position and orientation feedback. You can control a magnet outside the body, but once a catheter or drug-delivery robot is inside a patient, you can't see it. There's no vision, but just magnetic fields and current measurements. That's huge news coming out of ETH Zurich! Here's the paper: Mentioned all authors on Li, but coulnd't find them here! ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Hyundai Glovis achieves 100% robot uptime with wireless charging! 🔌 Hyundai Glovis faced a problem common to warehouse automation: charging downtime was killing efficiency. Their fleet of AGVs operated with a 6.75:1 work-to-charge ratio. Every seventh robot was charging at any given moment. This meant 15% operational efficiency loss, or the need to purchase 15% extra robots just to compensate for charging downtime. CaPow solution is wireless power transfer while robots work! 🛜 The Genesis platform uses capacitive charging pads placed in the floor where robots naturally stop during operations, in this case, at picking stations. No docking required, no deviation from routes, no excavation needed. The test compared two identical setups. Section A used three robots with traditional charging (operate until 40% battery, charge to 95%). Section B used three robots with CaPow's system, charging at the picking station while operators picked items from bins. Traditional robots lost 8.3% battery per hour and suffered 33% operational inefficiency (150 minutes downtime out of 447 minutes). CaPowered robots gained 1% battery per hour on average and achieved 100% uptime for the entire 8-hour shift. The math on a 100-robot fleet is clear. Traditional charging means only 85 robots working at any time. To maintain full throughput, you need to buy 15 extra robots plus 15 extra chargers. Those chargers consume valuable warehouse space and add extra downtime as robots travel to and from charging zones. CaPow eliminates all of it. No extra robots, no chargers taking up floor space, no charging routes, no fleet management complexity.
