FREEBIE Behind the Scenes post! I reference Minecraft a lot on the comics because it's more well known, but 10yo's true love is a game called Terraria (basically Minecraft, but 2D and a LOT more stuff!) He's such a huge fan that his last TWO birthdays have been Terraria themed! With the internet being the cool place it is, after posting about my kids obsession, I became mutuals with the creator of Terraria, Redigit! HUGE Mom Cred earned!!! 😎 We got to chatting and at one point he said something along the lines of "So when's the Terraria comic coming?" He was joking, but now I wanted to make it happen! The problem was, Terraria is a bit more niche than Minecraft, so I needed a way to reference it while still appealing to everyone. I came up with the idea of Fran trying to keep up while Vincent switches through games. Terraria and Minecraft were obvious contenders, but I needed a #3. 8yo had been playing a lot of Pokémon, so that was my first idea, but Pokémon now looks very different to the classic look I wanted to draw. I was stumped on the 3rd game for a while until my kid brought up Animal Crossing! I'd drawn the family as Animal Crossing characters back in 2020 so it would be great to have an excuse to use them in a comic! I got to work on the comic by tracing real game characters and tweaking them to make them my own. I redid the Animal Crossing ones, making them closer to real cat characters in the game, but after looking back at my 2020 reedition, I decided to go with that one instead because it was more fun! When it came time to draw the Terraria characters, I showed 10yo the comic and asked if he could help me by designing some in-game characters I could trace. He was OUTRAGED! Not at the request, but at the fact Vincent goes back to Minecraft at the end instead of his beloved Terraria! I explained that the Minecraft movie was coming out, so it would be good for the comic to start with Minecraft Fran, but he wasn't having any of it and refused to help me until I changed it. Well what choice did I have?! I changed it! 😅 I didn't actually end up using the in-game characters he made (turned out easier to adapt models I found online) but I gleefully took his clever idea of doing game chat boxes instead of speech bubbles! So cool when your kids get old enough to be helpful!! ______________________________ If you enjoyed this post consider subscribing to my P@treon where I do write ups and videos like this for every comic! "I want to describe to you the life of a non-vaccinated person in Israel today. Our life has been destroyed, and we woke up to a nightmare in which we have have been kidnapped by our own government, who sold us to be guinea pigs to an experimental vaccine. They want us to give up our bodies and our souls with no questions. We have become the biggest clinical trial of a vaccine in history in the scale of an entire country" Listen to this testimony from an Israeli citizen on what life was like for an unvaccinated person in Israel at the beginning of the insane vaccination campaign and mass experiment on the Israeli people. What's the difference between Israel experimenting on millions of their own citizens and killing thousands of them with forceful coercion techniques, and them bombing a hospital in Gaza killing 500? or letting Hamas kill their people as justification for the war and perpetuation of more death. If we just go by the numbers, shouldn't we all be far more outraged about the vaccine? That death toll is easily over a million globally now, perhaps even tens of millions. Why should I trust the government that did this to their own people? Why should I listen to any government that did this to their people? It's willful murder no matter how you spin it, and we should all know by now that the denial of such evils by all the authorities that people are still clinging to for the truth, or the ignorance/negligence excuse that they didn't know, is a complete and utter BS lie. They had a clear purpose with the vaccines and knew exactly what they were doing, just as they have a clear purpose now with war and propaganda that comes with it. Depopulation.

Left: LBC's Shelagh Fogarty dismissing anti genocide protestors Right: Jewish leader of the Green party encouraging anti genocide protestors Every time I hear an anti anti genocide presenter dismiss protesting the genocide in Gaza, the more I'm reminded of Sangita Myska's remark, "a producer at LBC tried to tell me “there’s no such thing as Palestine”" You could just imagine Fogarty dismissing the suffragettes’ campaign for women’s voting rights as “hysterical girls stamping their feet” or “attention-seeking tantrums” It reduces a genuine, historic struggle for fundamental rights to childish behaviour, just as she did with the Gaza protesters What is it about LBC presenters unable or unwilling to acknowledge the genocide in Gaza despite it being live-streamed on our TV and across social media, not to mention the multiple Israeli cabinet members literally calling for genocide Thank God for leaders like Zack Polanski who put humanity first, calling for equal rights, safety and security for Palestinians as well as Israelis, with a fair two state solution Zack Polanski 👏 The murder of two Jewish men, Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby, by terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie was disgusting, and should rightly be condemned On the same day, 52 innocent Palestinians including women and children were murdered by Israel in Gaza; we won't be listing their names in the same we list the two from Manchester If you stand up against the murder of two innocent men in Britain - which all of us should, then we should also stand up for the murder of 52 innocent men, women and children in Gaza; and if we chose not to, we should not deny those who do the right to do so And to suggest you don't protest the genocide in Gaza but we do protest the murder of two British Jews, suggests that you don't really believe that all lives are equal and that every life should be treated fairly and equally with the same degree of respect I do hope that the organisers of today's protest, along with the police, make sure there are no antisemitic placards or chants. Britain's diversity is our richness and our wealth - something tragically Zack Polanski seems to want to say out loud - and every effort must be taken to also support the Jewish community in our country so they know that they too can be safe as well

🚨 DONALD TRUMP JUST INFURIATED IRAN WITH A MASTERCLASS "We basically sailed multiple guided missile destroyers straight through the gap. We demined this little safe passage along the coast of Oman." "Unblocking the Strait while we maintain the blockade, that's going to REALLY bring their negotiating team to its knees. It also unlocks all of this pent-up cargo and energy out of there. And we did it without boots on the ground!" "And we did it without any Asian or European allies, so you're welcome." "We've created an entire defensive UMBRELLA around the Gulf with anti-missile defense systems, helicopters, fighter jets, drones with about 15,000 service members, and we've already got two U.S.-flagged vessels out of there safely. This is a defensive operation." "We don't fire until fired upon. They fired first. They broke the ceasefire, and it didn't go very well for them." "Six of their fast boats from the Mosquito Fleet, WASTED by Apaches and Seacraft helicopters, and then also a bunch of missiles and drones they shot out, all of them intercepted!" "They threw some missiles over at our buddies at the UAE. Almost all of them intercepted." "There's a small fire at an export terminal. I think it's going to be okay. But if Iran continues to escalate, we can climb the escalation ladder." "We can do it all day. It's not going to end well for them. Right now, Operation or Project Freedom looks really savvy, sophisticated, and the oil markets are going to love it." "This corners their negotiating team, and it will really put the president in a great position when he goes to Beijing in about 10 days!" — Jesse Watters

So much of what's circulating about MGSΔ on the internet is unreasonable and unfair. The treatment of the game is really strange and unfair, and I'm going to show you another letter of nobility from the development team that NO ONE has noticed since the game's release in August 2025. No one has mentioned it on Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, etc., yet I have rarely seen anything so respectful. MGSΔ is also a remake that keeps a low profile on the internet, is sometimes ashamed of its subtle additions and improvements, and has HUGE respect for the main MGS3 development team. MGSΔ is also a remake that “hides” its credits in favor of the classic MGS3 credits at the end of the game with Starsailor's iconic theme “Way to Fall,” choosing sobriety and humility when it comes to the development team that worked on MGSΔ. In fact, there are more than 10 minutes of credits for the remake available in the “EXTRA” menu of MGSΔ, presenting the staff working on this project, with a new and already legendary orchestration by Naoki Nakashima that fits perfectly with the Metal Gear universe. Given the considerable work involved, the decision to put this in second place and leave the original MGS3 credits (from the original team) is once again a sign of great respect on the part of the development team. That's not all. From the introduction onwards, the game presents itself as “based on MGS3.” With no mention of the current staff, but rather the “Original” staff (introduction) with their names highlighted. As far as I can remember, no remake project has ever done this in the world of video games. Voluntarily stepping aside to continue promoting the original team, saying (Okamura) “Keep us honest” (for the future of MG) is incredible proof of respect for the saga. Okamura and the development team reading hate messages from angry “fans” on Metal Gear Hotline was also a powerful and painful moment to watch. Okamura also said that he would like to work with Hideo Kojima again in the future. At what point can we say that this is not sincere? I just don't understand. Yet we still see insults, people saying that the game doesn't respect Kojima, and a community divided in two. We also have misinformation, sometimes deliberate by some media (the release of MGSVOL1 saying that the credits did not mention Hideo Kojima), and questionable omissions of the game from major video game events for important titles such as sound design and best remake... I wonder how long this “targeting” of Konami will continue, because OBJECTIVELY, there is a genuine desire to do well. Admittedly, there was a difficult start with performance issues in certain parts of the game (which have been fixed) and a misstep with FOX HUNT, but the game does not deserve the hatred we see everywhere. If we want to see METAL GEAR continue, we need to soften our judgment and trust them. Fortunately, Delta's sales were good and the series will be able to continue evolving, but I still have a slight fear for the future... Because there is always strange hostility on the internet. Sorry if this tweet was a bit long, but it had to be said.

It was a privilege to be part of the largest diplomatic delegation to ever visit the state of Israel. The 250 state legislators were a contingent of Republicans and Democrats who traveled from every state in America. While in Israel, we visited Jewish, Christian and Muslim holy sites as well as the site where the Nova Festival massacre took place and where over 400 young partygoers were murdered and where hundreds more were raped, tortured and taken hostage by the Hamas terrorist group. We also visited the Be’eri Kibbutz, where farmers, with just 10 rifles allowed in the entire community, were viciously slaughtered by thousands of terrorists. Many of them had to watch as their children were burned alive in front of them. The burned and bullet-riddled homes in the kibbutz were a shock to our senses, and they stand today as a monument to the blind hatred so many have towards Israel and the Jewish community. The invasion by Hamas on October 7th was just one front of the coordinated attack on Israel. While Hamas attacked from the ground, Hezbollah and the Houthis attacked Israel from the air with rockets and drones, which are provided by the Iranian regime. Their determination to destroy Israel continues to this day. While we were in Israel, our delegation had to seek protective shelter 3 times in 5 days due to rockets launched towards us. As we travel home, we have been made aware of a protest against the false claim of genocide of Palestinians. If Israel has genocidal intent, they’re sure bad at it. Just one day of bombing Gaza (with the capabilities the Israeli Army and Air Force has) would utterly destroy them, but instead the IDF does everything possible to avoid killing Gazan civilians who are being used as human shields. They strive to limit casualties by warning Gazans ahead of time to leave battle zones with millions of text messages, phone calls, dropping leaflets, and making smaller targeted attacks. Since the beginning of the war, Israel has made it clear that Hamas must return all of the hostages - including 2 Americans for the war to end. Once this happens, the war will end, and rebuilding can start for both sides. Unfortunately, Hamas has no intention of keeping any cease-fire deal. They prefer to sacrifice their own people in order to gain sympathy from the unknowing public. If we're being honest, Americans would never put up with daily rocket fire into our country or the blatant torture, rape and murder of our women and children by neighboring countries. Venezuelan Narco-Terrorists who are flooding our streets with their poison should take note of this. Israel must be allowed to protect their citizens, as well as the 750,000 Americans who live within their borders, as a matter of fact, the United States should demand it. 'AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY' new trailer This is 100% A.I but there are some scenes look different. Its different from SDCC though. The SDCC trailer opened with Sue Storm providing some backstory on Victor Von Doom. Before we even get into what she said, this already provides new information for us because, up until this point, we did not know whether or not the Fantastic Four had any history with Doom or even if this Doctor Doom was from their same universe. Of course, we could have inferred based on the long comic book history between the characters, but this confirms it. We do also get to see who Sue is speaking to while delivering this backstory, at least as the trailer presents it. She appears to be speaking to a room full of heroes that includes Magneto, Gambit, Steve Rogers and many other. Sue seems to be explaining to the heroes exactly what they are dealing with, or maybe even already dealt with to some degree. Now, as for what Sue has to say about Doom, her words are both haunting and very informative. Victor was always the smartest guy in every room. He used to be different. He used to be kind, he used to be caring. Everything he loved was taken from him. I knew he was lost, but I did not realize that he was broken." Sue speaks as though she had worked with Victor in the past. We did see an empty seat marked for Latveria, Doom's fictional home country, during a Future Foundation meeting in 'FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS' So perhaps Sue had interacted with him frequently on a professional level. The rest of her quote is perhaps the most interesting bit. "Everything he loved was taken from him." It seems as though Doom has already lost something or someone. And based on the first poster for the film, it appears to be a wife and daughter that he has lost. In fact, this trailer even shows Doom staring at the tapestry featured in the poster as Sue says these words. So if Doom seemingly lost his wife and daughter in the past, so much so that Sue knows about it and he has had time to have a tapestry made, could this loss have been cause by an incursion? Perhaps it was some other tragedy. Either way, the trailer goes on to let us know that Doom is not pleased with the fact that he has suffered while these heroes of various universes had gotten to live their lives. After Sue's speech, we see some kind of wreckage where Reed Richards poses a question to Doom. Victor, did you do this? After that question, we get the same shot of Scott Lang embracing his daughter Cassie as well as a new shot of Johnny Storm holding his nephew, Franklin Richards. We also see some more shots of various heroes with their respective children, including Steve Rogers and Thor. Now that we know Doom has lost his own child and he wants to make the heroes pay, these shots seem far more sinister than ever before. Meanwhile, Doom provides the next bit of voiceover as we see the heroes. All of you have lived stolen lives, and now you must give them back. This really does make it seem as though the incursions caused by various counts of time travel shenanigans from the heroes were what caused Doom to lose his family. However, Doom's true objective still remains unclear. He certainly seems to want to simply eliminate all of the heroes, but there is definitely still an angle involving their children. The next shot sees Doom fly in faster than any character we've seen in the MCU to date before hitting a perfect superhero landing. Reed, now enraged, repeats his question. DID YOU DO THIS?! So not only does this trailer confirm that Sue has history with Doom, but it appears Reed does as well. This also gives some credence to the popular theory floating around that Doom will first appear as an ally to the heroes before revealing his true colors later on. Reed seems to have trusted Doom as he lets out this angry question. We then see a similar shot from the first trailer of Thor dropping in to confront Doom. Only this time, we can hear Thor speak to Doom. I swear, you will beg for Hel long before I grant it. Thor if of course referring to the realm of the dead, overseen by his own sister, Hela. You could simply replace the word with the word "death," but this is a bit more powerful. Of course, we know how things go for Thor based on the first trailer though. He attacks with Stormbreaker and Doom easily stops the all powerful axe. This time though, we see him repel Thor, sending him flying before delivering a haunting message. Hel answers to me. Then, Doom raises his hands, and with them arise several damaged Sentinels, the mutant-killing robots from the X-Men universe. This essentially confirms another popular theory that the Sentinels we have seen in previous clips, including the last trailer, are being controlled by Doom. As this threat arises, Doom utters one last message. I am Doom. So to recap, we now know that the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom have known each other in the past. We know that Doom lost his family, presumably his wife and daughter. It seems clear that at least the Fantastic Four, and perhaps all of the heroes, consider Doom an ally at some point. Doom is, in fact, going to control the Sentinels and use them as his own weapons. And, perhaps the biggest takeaway, Doom is by far the biggest threat the heroes of the MCU have faced.

#WATCH | North 24 Parganas, West Bengal: Mother of deceased doctor in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-death case says, "First we got a call from the hospital that your daughter is sick, then the call was disconnected. After that when I called and asked what happened, they told me to come to the hospital. When we called again, the (caller) identified himself as Assistant Super and said your daughter has committed suicide. She went to duty on Thursday, we got this call on Friday at 10:53am. When we reached there, we were not allowed to see her, we were allowed to see her at 3 o'clock. Her pants were open, there was only one piece of cloth on her body. Her hand was broken, blood was coming out of her eyes, mouth. Just by looking at her, it seemed that someone had murdered her. I told them it is not suicide, it's a murder. We worked so hard to make our daughter a doctor but she was murdered." On Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's call, she says, "She (Mamata Banerjee) said that the culprit will be arrested as soon as possible, but nothing has happened so far. One person has been arrested. I am sure many more are involved in this incident. I think the entire department is responsible for the incident... The police did not do a good job at all. I feel that the Chief Minister is trying to stop the protest, today she imposed Section 144 here so that people cannot protest." On the CP, she says, "They did not cooperate with us at all, they only tried to hush up the case as soon as possible. Their attempt was to get the post-mortem done as soon as possible and remove the body."

The “trans” rally in Sheffield against “segregation” yesterday: No matter why the “trans” lunatics thought we went to their “protest” in Sheffield yesterday or how THEY reacted violently - we only went there to hold a suffragette flag and take a photo. I had a dog in one hand and my phone in the other and stood at the back. I did not provoke anyone other than … being me and them hating me. They lost their minds. They were looking out for us. They went nuts when we showed up shouting “they’re HERE! 12.05 are HERE!” and then swarmed LightninLex 🏴 following her in a mob. I was concerned for her safety at this point in the video which is why I’m shouting her name. A very big man pretending to be a woman is part of the mob surrounding her and has a gleeful look on his face as he puts both his arms round her with his big trans flag. She keeps her arms in the air. She did nothing to provoke them even when surrounded. She did not however give in or show fear - because she never does. They will never get that from her. Yet a woman with a baby on her chest who was also crowding in as part of the mob pushing at LightninLex calls me “hateful”. A man who has previously assaulted a TERF woman was right behind following me close. Wearing a Keffiyeh over his face - obviously. These men are very angry at the release of the “code of practice” which promises them a “third space” for their “safety” in changing rooms and toilets away from women - they are looking for women to take that anger out on. The overall message of speeches was “we are coming to get into women’s spaces and we will do it by force if the law tells us no”. They chanted (whilst they had her pinned in their midst) “STAND UP FIGHT BACK”. No one was “fighting” them yesterday. We had a flag. We were two women walking to the Town Hall. All we have done is highlight that risk to women. All they have done is show themselves as violent and worryingly quick to show it. They hate women - specifically women who say no. These men are angry, they will be “fighting” you, they will be violent towards women. #Terfs #sheffield #NoManisAWoman

Trump Says White House Knows What Drones Are As White House, FBI, DHS Insist Nothing Unusual Afoot Plus: Exclusive to Public, the recording of the White House’s drone briefing for angry New Jersey mayors Since November 18th, the military, city mayors, and citizens have been reporting widespread drone flying over military bases in New Jersey and Ohio and over homes in New Jersey and other states. This morning, a reporter asked President-elect Donald Trump about the drones. “The government knows what is happening,” said Trump. “And for some reason they don't want to comment. And I think they'd be better off saying what it is. Our military knows. Our president knows. And for some reason, they want to keep people in suspense. I can't imagine it's the enemy because if it were the enemy, even if they were late, they'd blast it. Something strange is going on.” A few hours later, representatives from the FBI, the White House, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Aviation Administration all said nothing unusual was going on. “These sightings include a combination of lawful commercial drones, hobbyist drones, and law enforcement drones as well, as well as other aircraft, helicopters, and other images including lights mistakenly reported as drones,” said Jennifer Daskal of DHS. The mayors responded angrily. “This has been going on since November 8th,” said Mayor Mark Taylor of Florham Park. “You can say these are small aircraft. You can say these are manned. They're not. So, I think if anyone was to take away from this that, um, the drones aren't flying, they also must believe that the border is closed.” Public obtained the entire conference call between the mayors, the White House, the FBI, DHS, and the FAA, which ran from around p.m. ET today to just before pm ET. One mayor said he had one drone over his house. “This is certainly not normal,” said Mayor Sam Joshi of Edison. “It's an abnormal amount of drones and the sizes of them are just huge. I had two drones that were the size of vehicles. A couple hundred mayors are all waving a flag saying, ‘This is a big deal.’” Said Mayor Taylor, “I just don't want to hear any longer that we don't know where they're coming from because you should know that." Last week, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said, " We have not seen drones penetrate restricted airspace," and Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby said, "There are no reported or confirmed drone sightings in any restricted airspace.” Kirby stressed the point twice. “There has been no evidence of any of this activity in or near restricted spaces. But US officials have officially reported drones at Langley, Edwards, Earle, and many other military and nuclear sites for years, including in New Jersey recently. The New York Post reported that drones flew over Picatinny Arsenal, a sensitive US military installation “that has been helping develop robotic drones that can counter weapons of mass destruction.” On Friday, drones forced the Wright-Patterson Air Force base in Ohio to shut down air traffic. “Most of the New Jersey drone sightings were misidentified,” noted the War Zone, which broke the story, “so it is notable that the ones spotted over Wright-Patterson, as with the other U.S. military installations, were seen by trained observers that are equipped with high-end gear to maintain security and to discriminate between friend and foe.” Some Democrats in Congress joined Trump and the mayors in demanding more information. “The public has a right to know what is flying over their neighborhoods and in their communities,” said Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA). “Whether it’s drones or planes, getting people information is important for transparency and national security.” Please subscribe now to support Public’s award-winning investigative journalism and to listen to and read the transcript of the entire conference call between the White House, DHS, FBI, FAA, and the mayors of New Jersey.

Elon Musk reduced the oldest question in human history to basic math. No one has found a flaw in it. Musk: “What are the odds that we are in base reality? And that this has not happened before.” You don’t need a physics degree to follow it. You need a timeline. Musk: “If you look at the advancement of video games, it’s gone from Pong, two rectangles and a square batting it back and forth, to photorealistic, real-time games with millions of people playing simultaneously.” Fifty years. That is all it took to close the gap between two rectangles on a screen and a world you cannot tell apart from the one outside your window. Musk: “If that trend continues, video games will be indistinguishable from reality.” The visuals are not what seals it. The intelligence is. Musk: “Think of how sophisticated the conversations are you can have with an AI today, and that’s only going to get more sophisticated.” We are not scripting characters anymore. We are building minds that reason, adapt, and surprise the people who made them. We are nowhere near finished. Musk: “The future, if civilization continues, will be millions, maybe billions of photorealistic, indistinguishable from reality, video games. And with characters in those video games that are very deep, and where the dialogue is not pre-programmed.” One base reality. Billions of perfect copies. Each one running minds that feel exactly as conscious as you do right now. Each one certain it is the original. Musk: “So then what are the odds that we are in base reality?” If even one civilization crosses that threshold, simulated minds outnumber real ones by billions. The probability you are sitting in the real one is not low. It is nearly zero. Not as philosophy. As mathematics. We are not watching this happen. We are building it. Right now. Every AI that reasons without a script. Every world rendered one frame closer to indistinguishable. We are constructing the exact technology that makes our own existence statistically implausible. And we will never stop. Because the curiosity that questions reality is the same force that builds it. If the math holds, something built us. Something conscious enough to create consciousness. They stood where we are standing. Same question. Same inability to stop. And whatever built them never answered it either. There is no top floor. There is no original. None of that changes what you feel right now. Consciousness was never about what you are made of. It was about what you experience. Musk did not float a theory. He held up a mirror with no back wall. And the math does not need you to believe it. It only needs time.

There are those who are low enough to question the participation of Syrians in the revolution under the banner of sweeping regional generalizations, this time their prejudice aimed at Syrians, simply because they belong to Damascus. To address this, I’m sadly going to have to personalize this message: The depravity we’re seeing on X and other platforms, this dismissal of the sacrifices that so many have made for a free Syria, is sickening. They consider our contribution irrelevant because all they have grown to respect over the last 15 years is brute strength and violence, a poisonousness Assadist mindset, one that they now carry and preserve. As if courage only counts when it carries a weapon. When did this shallow bullshit mindset become the norm? All of a sudden, those who raised their voices bare-chested in the face of arguably one of the most oppressive regimes in modern history are seen as “cowards.” It does not matter to them that we willingly risked rotting in Assad’s dungeons. Yes, of course we were terrified. There is simply nothing wrong with that. On that very first day, we said our farewells to the people we love because we were terrified we might never see them again, indeed many of us never came back, determined to scream freedom in the face of unimaginable oppression. If you’re reading this and you’re one of those who harbor hatred toward us, know this: In that moment, we were thinking of every single one of you. We were demanding freedom for every single one of you. Yet somehow, now, that means nothing to you. But that’s okay, we'll cope. Because we'll surround ourselves with Syrians from every corner of Syria. We are proud of each other. We will stand by one another without the regional or classist narrow-mindedness you insist on carrying. If you choose not to be part of that, you’re the only ones at a loss, disillusioned by this pathetic obsession with speaking from a position of power and control over others. So let me say it plainly: We didn’t join a revolution, we started one. And when I say we, I mean all of us, all Syrians. 18 March 2011 in Damascus. For those with doubts (original upload date):

Want to write thrilling stories? Nick Bilton has the playbook. He's written for Netflix and The New York Times, and this episode is a tell-all class on how to create tension with hooks, cliffhangers, drama, and conflict. Highlights below: 1. Evil characters only work if readers care about them. 2. The best way to make readers care about an evil character is to humanize them. You can do that by focusing on simple details like how they lose their keys. Or, you can write about their mother because every murderer has a mother who loves them. 3. You can't look down on your characters. You have to look out with them. 4. Rule for writing screenplays: Get into the scene as late as you can, and get out of it as early as you can. 5. Fiction stories have the opposite shape as non-fiction ones. 6. In fiction, the kicker comes at the beginning and the summary comes at the end. In non-fiction, the summary comes at the beginning and the kicker comes at the end. 7. How’d Nick learn to tell better stories? By reading murder mysteries. 8. If the story's good enough, the book will fly off the shelves. Look at the Twilight series. The books sold like crazy even though the writing stinks. 9. How do you write good cliffhangers? Show people a little bit of the future, but don't reveal everything. 10. Ask the question at the end of one chapter and answer it shortly after. The answer doesn't need to come right away, but you have to answer it soon. 11. There are two kinds of stories that work: Big ones about something small, and small ones about something big. Stories in the middle are usually terrible. 12. Nick once asked the legendary journalist David Carr for advice. The response: “Keep typing until it turns into writing.” 13. You can tell a good story without knowing everything that happened, but you do need to know enough to make the reader feel like they're there. 14. Writers often over-describe their scenes. You only need three details. For example, if you're at a campground, you might only need the sight of the pine needles on the ground, the smell of a nearby campfire, and the sound of crickets in the distance. 15. We admire characters more for trying than their successes (this is rule #1 in Pixar's 22 Rules of Storytelling). That's just a little taste of what's in this episode with Nick Bilton. You can watch the full thing below. If you'd rather watch on YouTube or listen on Spotify or Apple, and I've shared those links in the reply tweets.

FedEx I just wanted to show you how wonderfully helpful some of your drivers are. Your driver, delivering a package that weighed over 108 pounds, instead of helping me to get it up the stairs, looked up to see if I was there (my front door was open, so he knew someone was home), then dumped it against the bottom stair and left it. Oh, and I might add, he did this in the pouring rain, too; leaving a wood cabinet completely exposed to the pouring rain, protected by nothing more than a thin layer of cardboard. Even better? Because he left it in the RAIN, not bothering to put it under any shelter if he was too lazy to get it up the stairs, by the time I got out there, the cardboard was saturated and falling apart as I struggled to get it to the landing of my stairs. I was barely able to get it to the landing before the cardboard was completely falling apart, the wood coming out all over my deck. Which is where it’s sitting at this very moment because I’m too exhausted to try and lug 108 pounds up yet MORE STAIRS. If you have drivers who are incapable of managing packages of this size, possibly you should consider not putting packages of this weight on their route because all he did was make an even bigger problem for me to deal with. Chances are, by the time I get it in my house & examine it, they’ll be damage, as well; if not from all the rain it was exposed to, the struggle one woman had to go through to get that up my stairs! How shameful for a man to leave a delivery weighing over 100 pounds for a woman to deal with. And have no doubt he knew he was leaving it for a woman because he looked up as I was walking by the door, talking to my Daughter, so he saw, or at least heard, our voices. What a lazy world we live in anymore. #FedEx #Amazon #Lazy

Stargate Trivia: Window of Opportunity We had no idea this episode would become so beloved by fandom and yet, looking back, it’s easy to see why it has. It’s one of those "fun" episodes with a fairly straightforward premise that allows our characters to shine in ways unexpected. Specifically, Jack and Teal’c who, in the past, have relied on Carter and Daniel to handle the science and Ancient translations, and suddenly find themselves having to step into their team members’ shoes. Yes, it’s our version of Groundhog Day. And yet, in its earliest form, the pitch for this story was very different, much darker in tone. Originally titled Ad Infinitum, it involved the team gating to a planet and becoming trapped in a seemingly endless time loop orchestrated by a dying race seeking to buy more time to come up with a solution to an impending armageddon (which became the backstory of the device’s genesis mentioned in the episode by Malakai). Exec Producer Robert Cooper suggested another spin on the time loop angle and, while I was dubious at first (“Isn’t this Groundhog Day?”I remember asking. “Yeah,”was Rob’s counter.), I was proven wrong. Now, the “Groundhog Day” episode has become a staple of most every genre show. While there’s a lot to like about this episode, it was the “time off” montage that stands out. And it almost didn’t happen. The episode was timing short, it was clear we would need to come up with some extra scenes, and that gave Exec Producer Brad Wright (Brad Wright 🇨🇦) the opportunity to do something he had always wanted to do: see our characters golfing through the stargate. And so, several scenes were added (they were all scripted, not improvised as some fans assumed): the juggling, Teal’c’s repeated door run-in, Jack riding his bike through the corridors of the SGC, Jack trying his hand at pottery, the golfing through the gate and, oh yes, THE KISS. The latter was my former writing partner Paul Mullie's idea - in his pitch, an opportunity we could not pass up. Note: We made sure to have Jack tender his official resignation before dipping Carter and planting one on her, just to make sure we didn’t catch any flak from our Air Force tech advisors. One of the first pieces of Stargate-related artwork I put up on my office wall was some concept art from this episode - the stargate itself. As the seasons wore on, so did that original sketch, gradually fading away. My then writing partner mused that once the sketch vanished, it would signal the show's end. It took well over six years but , in the end, he was right.
