🏃 Movement + Animation Update: Following feedback on the Official Trailer from December, we've been further tuning and polishing Stuffy's movement to make it more responsive and fluid. We hope this video is a promising glimpse of our much-requested progress in this area! What's New? - Stuffy is now ~10% smaller, granting more playable space and control (to accurately fit inside of a 'layered' segment, land tight jumps, etc.) - Stuffy's run speed was increased, and with better acceleration. - Stuffy now reacts to 'extreme' rising and falling velocities, so they'll flail around dramatically when popping out of a Blink Bubble, bouncing on a Trampoline, or falling from big jumps. - We've updated and added all-new animations and the method of blending them. This includes animations for idle jump and land, running jump and land, quick turn while running, and more. - We've increased Stuffy's max jump height, strength, and overall weight. - We've also increased the global gravity for less floaty physics. - A more visible drop shadow was added to help judge landing. Why these changes? From our own testing and public feedback, we realized the physics were not properly tuned after a big refactoring made in 2023... resulting in a floaty look. Sadly, the fixes weren't investigated in time for the trailer! Our goal was always to improve the animation blending and movement style. Thanks to your feedback, we were able to pinpoint the biggest problems and begin fixing them. 💖 Our work isn't done! You'll notice some bugs in the video. 🐞 We plan to continue polishing the movement with time, including new animations that help Stuffy react to the environment even better. However, this is a step in the right direction and it feels much nicer to use (and look at)! You'll also spot some of the Wardrobe in action!

FREEBIE Behind the Scenes post! I reference Minecraft a lot on the comics because it's more well known, but 10yo's true love is a game called Terraria (basically Minecraft, but 2D and a LOT more stuff!) He's such a huge fan that his last TWO birthdays have been Terraria themed! With the internet being the cool place it is, after posting about my kids obsession, I became mutuals with the creator of Terraria, Redigit! HUGE Mom Cred earned!!! 😎 We got to chatting and at one point he said something along the lines of "So when's the Terraria comic coming?" He was joking, but now I wanted to make it happen! The problem was, Terraria is a bit more niche than Minecraft, so I needed a way to reference it while still appealing to everyone. I came up with the idea of Fran trying to keep up while Vincent switches through games. Terraria and Minecraft were obvious contenders, but I needed a #3. 8yo had been playing a lot of Pokémon, so that was my first idea, but Pokémon now looks very different to the classic look I wanted to draw. I was stumped on the 3rd game for a while until my kid brought up Animal Crossing! I'd drawn the family as Animal Crossing characters back in 2020 so it would be great to have an excuse to use them in a comic! I got to work on the comic by tracing real game characters and tweaking them to make them my own. I redid the Animal Crossing ones, making them closer to real cat characters in the game, but after looking back at my 2020 reedition, I decided to go with that one instead because it was more fun! When it came time to draw the Terraria characters, I showed 10yo the comic and asked if he could help me by designing some in-game characters I could trace. He was OUTRAGED! Not at the request, but at the fact Vincent goes back to Minecraft at the end instead of his beloved Terraria! I explained that the Minecraft movie was coming out, so it would be good for the comic to start with Minecraft Fran, but he wasn't having any of it and refused to help me until I changed it. Well what choice did I have?! I changed it! 😅 I didn't actually end up using the in-game characters he made (turned out easier to adapt models I found online) but I gleefully took his clever idea of doing game chat boxes instead of speech bubbles! So cool when your kids get old enough to be helpful!! ______________________________ If you enjoyed this post consider subscribing to my P@treon where I do write ups and videos like this for every comic! 🎮 A Resident Evil 3 Remake fan-made co-op mod is now in development. The success of the recently released co-op mod for Resident Evil 4 Remake appears to have sparked a new wave of multiplayer projects across the Resident Evil modding community. 🛠️ Modder HeySnippy is now developing a fully playable co-op mod for Resident Evil 3 Remake, allowing two players to experience Jill Valentine’s campaign together. According to the project’s current goals, the mod aims to support synchronized gameplay, shared progression, enemy synchronization, cutscenes, and campaign-wide co-op from start to finish. 😳 The project is being built on a custom networking framework called Snippyet, featuring account authentication via email, Discord, and Steam, along with a friends list, session management, and the ability to join games using room codes or direct friend invitations. Another planned feature will allow players to drop items on the ground instead of discarding them, making it possible to share ammunition, healing items, and other resources with their co-op partner. 🎯 According to the developer, the most technically challenging milestones have already been completed, with development now focused on polishing gameplay systems and expanding features to deliver a seamless co-op experience. The mod remains in active development with no release date announced, though early gameplay footage already shows significant progress. ☝🏻 The emergence of another ambitious co-op project shortly after the success of the Resident Evil 4 Remake co-op mod once again highlights the growing demand for cooperative gameplay in modern Resident Evil titles. While these projects remain unofficial, they continue to show just how eager many fans are to revisit the series alongside a friend.
