🌍Are LLMs aware of cultural and legal safety in today’s geo-diverse world? 🚀Introducing SafeWorld, our #NeurIPS2024 paper and benchmark assessing LLMs’ understanding of geo-diverse safety, based on cultural norms and policies across 50 countries and 493 regions/races. ⚖️We also propose a multi-dimensional framework for evaluating contextual appropriateness, accuracy, and comprehensiveness, revealing major gaps in current LLMs. 🧨To address this, we train SafeWorldLM using DPO, achieving SOTA performance and a 20% higher global human evaluator rating in helpfulness and harmfulness over competing models, including GPT-4o. 🔗Paper: 💻 GitHub: 🫶🏻This is a joint leading effort with Da Yin. To better serve our clients, we are embarking on a two year redevelopment project of a 10 floor facility at our current address to enhance our facilities and create a more client-centered environment. During this period, we shall remain fully operational and committed to providing uninterrupted legal services in a new temporary location. We thank the Managing Partner Joseph Matsiko for leading this venture which has been signed off and the site will be handed over to SMS Construction on 1st of March. Excited to share LightTact, a visual-tactile fingertip sensor that makes contact directly visible. The Sameer Project desalination plant is now open 🎉🥳 Support here: Five months of planning, searching, installing, testing and so much more to finally be able to operate today. This wouldn’t have been possible with this incredible community, without YOU! With multiple desalination plants bombed and huge water scarcity in the Gaza Strip, you have allowed The Sameer Project to now create a new source of fresh water. We expect to produce 150,000 to 200,000 liters of clean water daily. All water from the station will be provided 100% free of charge to displaced families and residents. The station is also open to our partners and other organizations wishing to collect water and distribute it through their own operations, at no cost, subject to prior arrangement and coordination with our team so that collection can be scheduled properly alongside daily community distribution. We built the station as a shared resource for the response in Gaza City, not for our own distributions alone. Collective work is what we need towards liberation.
