Dan Bongino slams the decision to send DNA evidence in the Nancy Guthrie case to a private lab, warning it could cause unnecessary delays instead of going straight to the FBI: “Listen, the cooperation here has not been spectacular. I mean, the decision to send this DNA sample to a private lab was just disastrous. The problem is the FBI does not typically accept DNA once the sample is properly processed by private labs. So what you’re looking at now is another delay, as the private lab will likely have to send it back to Arizona to submit it into CODIS. So it was just unnecessary. What the hell, man? Just send it to the FBI lab. Why introduce another variable you don’t need in this?”

Even with the camera disabled, it was recording footage and able to be recovered… “Nancy Guthrie had a Nest camera, which is owned by Google, and law enforcement initially believed the doorbell footage was lost and said Nancy Guthrie did not have a premium subscription to access video from her doorbell camera — Now, according to Google, if a Nest camera is disabled, it can still record up to three hours of event video history without a subscription. So many are wondering, why did it take so long for this video to be released? EXCLUSIVE: Scene of Nancy Guthrie private lab testing. I’m outside DNA Labs International where the DNA Testing of evidence is happening right now. I traveled to Deerfield Beach, Florida where lab technicians have been testing critical evidence in the investigation — including the glove found nearly 2 miles from her home. We’ve heard a lot about the discrepancies of sending this type of DNA evidence to a private lab versus a lab used by the FBI, but the Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, says this is their protocol, and a lab that they have used for years. There are only a limited number of private accredited DNA labs in the country capable of this level of forensic work. If possible, DNA Labs International will develop a DNA profile from the glove. According to independent DNA consultant Suzanna Ryan of Ryan Forensic, which is not connected to this case but can speak about how this all works, once a profile is developed it will most likely be sent to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. That’s where the quality control process begins: •A qualified DNA analyst or CODIS administrator verifies the data •The profile must meet strict standards before upload •Once approved, it is electronically transmitted through state systems to the Federal Bureau of Investigation •All systems work together within the national DNA database network CODIS This extra verification step can take time — but it’s critical to ensure the data is admissible and accurate. In this exclusive video, I take you to the scene of where this testing is being done. So as long as those legal requirements are met, we can continue the investigation. Now, when I tell you that we have not identified a suspect, it doesn't mean that we're not working the case. We will not identify a suspect until that person is identified as a suspect. And we're legally seeking them. If there is a crime to be reported, and if that person is a suspect in that crime, did that.
