A lightweight arm doing heavier work than you would expect. This one weighs 9.2 kg and can lift up to 12 kg. That already tells you a lot about the mechanical design and power density. A few details that stood out to me: • Controlled via a PlayStation joystick, simple and practical • Designed to operate in rain and dust • Clearly aimed at mobile robots and outdoor use, not just clean factory floors This kind of arm makes sense when space, weight, and deployment flexibility matter more than raw reach or speed. Holy… 🤯 this is literally a superhuman hand. One hand can act as both a left and a right hand. Depending on the task or the object being grasped, it can autonomously switch between left-hand and right-hand configurations, bend in reverse, and achieve degrees of freedom beyond a human hand,maximizing the efficiency of a single hand. it comes from a company in Jiangsu called ChangingTek Robotics. You could say the hand is a bit like an octopus,but it isn’t soft. It’s rigid and capable of gripping tools like wrenches, screwdrivers, drinks, and basically almost any object.

And I just want to remind you that you can use our arm together with this model and with LeRobot The arm has the same DOF as the arm used by Pi0, but has smaller size and cost starts from 200$ per arm. You can use better motors like we did in our demos, then it will be more precise and stable but the price will be about $600 per arm. Printable files, purchase list, and help with the assembly - in our discord channel.

🇺🇸 MIT and Stanford engineers built a robotic gripper that works like a vine. And it might be one of the more quietly important tech stories of the year. Soft inflatable tubes grow outward, twist and coil around an object, then retract, creating a gentle hammock-like cradle. It can handle a glass vase. It can handle a watermelon. A larger version can lift a full human body out of bed without injury. The immediate target application: eldercare. Lifting a bedridden patient is one of the most physically damaging tasks a caregiver performs, for both the caregiver and the patient. Beyond that: warehouse sorting, agricultural harvesting, heavy cargo loading... anywhere you need something strong enough to lift serious weight but gentle enough not to crush what it's holding. Teaching a machine to do the same is one of the hardest problems in autonomy. Scene understanding is how we're working to solve it. Our system fuses LiDAR point clouds, camera feeds, and real-time terrain data into a continuous, three-dimensional picture of everything happening around the machine. It's a living model of the environment, updated moment to moment so the machine can make decisions grounded in what's actually in front of it.

This is what open robotics actually looks like! 🔓 I was in Bordeaux, sitting inside Pollen Robotics, and had a chance to play around with their humanoid robot Reachy 2. It’s expressive, modular, and can even bring you coffee, and of course runs Python or Rust. I was talking with Reachy in 3 different languages, tele-operating it and manipulating kitchen stuff, and make it even mimic my gestures. The best part is that there are no locked APIs, or hidden stuff, just an open platform that you can build upon. The connection with Hugging Face makes it super easy to start, as the open source approach allows everyone to contribute, experiment and add their own things. Nature already solved this: Cheetahs, kangaroos, dinosaurs – they use tails for dynamic balance, sharp turns, and recovery from unexpected shifts. The robotics insight? Let the tail handle it. Virginia Tech built serpentine tails that compensate in real-time – so bipeds and quadrupeds can handle ledges, lateral shifts, and turns without rewriting their entire gait. Simple solution.
