Our general understanding of the characteristics of the physical world are largely restricted by the limited range of our senses. The world appears to be comprised of tangible objects positioned within empty space, separate and distinct. Neither of these characterizations are true. Our unaided senses generate a false interpretation of the true state of reality. Space is note empty, it is substantive with a quantifiable and measurable energy density. Space, in terms of quantum vacuum fluctuations, can be considered as a veritable sea of oscillating energy, like a fluid, quantized at the Planck scale (a billion trillion trillion times smaller than a centimeter) as Planck spherical units, and these tiny oscillators make up the fluid medium of space and comprise the "material" stuff as well. Imagine being able to directly perceive this level of reality. Our photodetector proteins in our eyes are sensitive to electromagnetic radiation in the frequency range of 400 to 800 terahertz (trillions of oscillations per second), and we call this "visible light". If, however, we could see light at the Planck scale, were photons oscillate at the Planck frequency— a mass-energy value that makes the electromagnetic component at order of unity with spacetime curvature— then we would theoretically see directly the substantive fluid medium of space and our sight would relay a world that is integrally interconnected and all one substance; objects would not appear as separate and distinct or even fundamentally different than the substance comprising the bulk space. SkildAI, which is developing a foundational AI model for robots, has released a new video of their humanoid robot walking over objects and exploring environments it had never seen before. The robot is using vision & adapts in real time. SkildAI: "From raw images and joint feedback, the model directly outputs low-level motor commands. This single neural network enables humanoid robots to seamlessly walk across flat ground, climb stairs, and step over obstacles without any planning, mapping, or manual switching between behaviors. For all of our testing in this video, we deployed the robot in each new environment without any prior planning or mapping. We took off the humanoid’s shoes so you can hear it.

This was the mood of Ghanaians when Nkrumah was overthrown. Most Ghanaians today would have hated Nkrumah but our social studies books and the hero worship Nkrumah created around himself has made discussing Nkrumah an emotional topic. Under Nkrumah, you couldn't criticise him. The media was not allowed to publish anything negative. His political opponents were jailed. And private business was difficult. Most of the factories and state institutions had failed due to corruption, nepotism and incompetence in the 1960s. Talking about the ills of Nkrumah today seem likes talking about a religious figure. I hope one day our social studies books will show us the good and bad of each government from 1957. Show us all the records of each government across all sectors, the projects they started, those they inherited, when each was completed, the length of years each had and the amount of wealth each had. May be then, we would have an open mind about the Nkrumah conversation.

[] = edited info for privacy "I am a [Major US Carrier] A320/321 Captain, the following sighting occurred during one of my flights recently. Since I have shared my story, several other [Major US Carrier] pilots have reached out to me and shared their similar experiences, including sharing their video recordings of these objects from the Flight Levels. All seen at the base of the big dipper. [Last week of July], 2023, I departed Santo Domingo DR at 2305 destined for New York JFK. My route of flight was L453 in NY Oceanic airspace, non radar hundreds of miles offshore. At approximately 1 hour into the flight as we were approaching the southern boundary of the NY oceanic airspace, and at 32,000 feet, I called out a visual on traffic that was excessively bright and looked like about 80 miles range... and then disappeared visually. I never saw the traffic on TCAS. Then a few minutes later I saw two objects round in shape, one lighted and one not flying in a formation just above the horizon, at a range I guessed of 120-200 NM. The object/s would illuminate to be as bright as a star for several seconds, then go dark for a few minutes, only to illuminate again. The brightness would vary from bright to very bright to dark. The color of the lighted object was white light. There was a second object you can clearly see in the photos that would follow the illuminated object, but it would not illuminate itself. Except for the 3:10-3:30 second point of my video I think you can see the second object illuminate. This went on for the remaining 2-2.5 hours of my flight to NY on L453 in Oceanic airspace. After reviewing the photos, I think the objects might have been a bit further away, but distance is very difficult to gauge at night. I have the brand new Samsung S23 phone which has the best camera on the market for a cell phone and I started recording this object in video. I have a great 7 min video of it appearing and disappearing while I was talking to other airliners on 123.45 vhf about it. You can hear that conversation in the video! Another airliner approximately 400 NM ahead of us at 36,000 feet stated they saw the same thing. I also took about 30 photos of these objects in "night mode" on the phone and they came out really good... in one of them you can actually see the lighted object and the unlit object very clearly as round metallic objects. All of the photos were taken with some sort of long exposure setting to be able to get as much light as possible to the sensor... You will be able to see in the long exposure photos the stars are pins of light but the UFO's are streaks of light because they are moving! It is actually amazing! All of this happened over about a 2.5 hour flight and continued for the entirety of our flight. The light seemed to be on or just above the horizon until we got closer to our destination of NY. Just prior to beginning our descent the objects appeared much higher in the sky 80-90 degrees above the horizon and much further away, actually out of the atmosphere."

It looked like whatever the hologram was that was being generated, it hadn't quite worked. And it was hovering over a house and drifting very slowly in a particular direction and whatever that is, it's not a conventional aircraft. And it's interesting because I asked somebody about this at a relatively high level in the defense community just this week, and they said to me, Ross, if you were the US Air Force and the White House, would you want to admit that there are objects operating with total impunity over the continental United States that we can't track? We can't detect, we don't know where they're coming from or where they're going to. We don't know who's responsible for them, and more importantly, we can bring them down. Would you want to admit that? And the answer is no. And it's interesting because more and more, I think it's a bunch of A-type males in the US military who just can't bring themselves to admit that despite the expenditure of trillions of dollars, the security and defense and integrity of the national airspace of the United States cannot be guaranteed. That's the issue behind the drones, whatever they are, I suspect, yes, there have been some drones going up, and that's a matter of public record. Skywatcher, for example, reported that some of the objects that they saw were indeed sort of commercial drones that somebody was putting up. But they've also, as Jake told me yesterday, made it very clear that the objects that they were seeing included highly anomalous objects. And this is something that John and Jerry Tedesco have picked up with their Nightcrawler research laboratory. They've gone out and they've actually looked at these objects through their hyperspectral cameras and their other optical and sensor devices, and what they are recording is anomalous. So the big issue to me is not that these objects are anomalous, it's why is the United States government notably the Trump White House putting out a statement that is egregiously false and misleading and completely unsustainable in light of what Jake Barber has said. And in light of what New Jersey police and other military continue to say to me that these objects are anomalous. Sharing our computer vision system design for TRON: Ares. We approached these shots from the perspective of the machine. The frame becomes a field of observation. Every pixel is potential information waiting to be interpreted. The process begins by squarepacking the live action plates, dividing the image into a computational lattice. Once the grid exists, the system begins to read. Targets emerge. Motion vectors form. Signals ripple through layers of analysis. Inside these overlays lives the source code of the system itself. Streams of logic, fragments of instruction, the internal language of the machine. At times the imagery dissolves directly into that code, as if the world itself is being rewritten from within. Visual information collapses into structure, then reconstructs again as data. Scanning pulses move across the frame. Timers react. Coordinates lock. Each layer is part of a larger ecosystem of perception, constantly processing, evaluating, and iterating. The goal was maximum detail and living systems. Interfaces that breathe, think, and evolve in real time.

EOY Recap: The Daily Program, Season II In 2025, the program continued as a space for artistic experimentation around AI video. This year, we invited 70 artists to present work that extends the survey we began in 2023. AI video remains an unstable genre because the tools change quickly and unevenly, with each new release altering what motion and continuity do to storytelling or formal experimentation. That instability is not only a constraint. It is also a condition that invites risk, iteration, and the proposal of new visual grammars. Across the year, artists worked with a wide range of approaches and model families, from GAN-based systems to Sora, alongside other contemporary text-to-video and image-to-video tools. ↓ Below is a longer reflection on why we think this initiative matters

The Incredible Machine was created by Kevin Ryan and published by Sierra in 1993. Not what anyone would have expected from Sierra at the time, since they were so heavily invested (and dominant) in the adventure game genre. But it was a smart move, because this game really was, well... incredible. You are presented with an area containing some fixed objects already in place, plus a limited inventory of parts (ropes, pulleys, bowling balls, balloons, gears, candles, mice, cats, fans, guns, blimps, and many more). Your job is to place, rotate, and connect these parts so they interact in a precise sequence of events to complete the level. There is no order or fixed way, you decide how and where. The goal could be as simple as "pop the balloon" or "put the ball in the basket" - but there were countless ways to do it. Rarely has a game made you think so much, often outside the box, yet never feel like a chore. It was pure fun and joy to figure out, and the multiple solutions made it even better, and also increasing replay value. Some games from the 80s and 90s really tested your brain. Not just mindless shooting or running, but connecting the dots, understanding abstract principles, and learning while playing. The Oregon Trail was one, as was Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?, and this one certainly belongs in that group too. A rare gem, loved it.

We're living through a Great Flattening. It seems like every company has adopted the same values, the same mission statements, and the same style of visual branding. Just look at logo design. It's become flat, bland, sterile, drab, and timid. Architecture is suffering from the same kind of homogenization. In the built environment, we've traded beauty for usability. Ornamentation is out. Efficiency is in. Objects have lost their craftsmanship, even at the high end. Minimalism has become a euphemism for laziness. The mahogany desks that you'll find at an estate sale require far more craftsmanship than what you find at fairly high-end stores like CB2 and West Elm today. I live in Austin, Texas where it seems like every new house was designed in AutoCAD under a strict budget and a rushed timeline. What we've gained in productivity, we've lost in soul and spirit.
