Obsidian Web Clipper is available on all browsers that support browser extensions, including mobile. 1.3 is already approved on Chrome and Safari but may take a little longer to get approved for Firefox

The only thing I might change, and it's a pretty minor thing, but I would love to have the option of Atkinson Hyperlegible Next as font purely because it helps with letter distinction and works really well.

You can do that! Did you watch the video? In Settings just add it to the list.

I did not see that. Ironically, given the subject, that's extra funny. I'll have to poke at it.

the nested reddit/hn comment reader alone is worth the update.

This is amazing. I've had issues with other readers parsing useless info or butchering formatting, and I haven't had a single issue of that kind with Obsidian Web Clipper. The only shortcoming was customization, and this already works significantly toward that goal. Great job!

This is so good. The reader has really become my daily driver to read any website.

Would you ever consider adding it as a standalone or perhaps allowing it to be started on 1 click, withoutthe clipper dialogue?

you can also open Reader using the hotkey or context menu

not on mobile devices sadly

@kepano Agree, clipping on mobile is PITA

@stpmtk it will be better in Obsidian 1.13

@obsdmd So happy to see Obsidian getting better and better! 😊

Interested in adding some PDF support for your reader mode?

I've just been playing around with reader and is *so* nice.

Just started using it and I can't believe I neglected it for so long. Wonderful tool!

So good

Beautiful..I'm wondering which setup/software do you use for these short demo videos? The mouse arrow navigation is so smooth. Little bit of tips or link would be helpful.

Is there a way we can use this to append selected stuff or links directly to a note instead of clipping an entire webpage. Please make it happen.

yes you can already do that

Yes. That does it. How did I miss that? I feel stupid. Thanks you so much. 🙏

This looks really clean The reading experience improvements feel super thoughtful Curious — what made you focus on nested comments specifically?

because I spend a lot of time replying to Obsidian users on Reddit

Love it

Ain't gonna lie pretty cool 🫡

love seeing this kind of consistent shipping, the highlighting feature is gonna be super useful for research workflows

@obsdmd You’re the gift that keeps on giving

Omg I litterlay had recompiled a chromium extension to firefox just because I needed a better reader on the go. This will definitely replace it as a more all in 1 :)

Looks amazing! Thanks, @kepano!

love your work on this

Finally themes + highlights! My ADHD brain says thank you, my messy inbox says oh no. Deep-nested Reddit readable? Poggers, bring the chaos.

beautiful

Not on Firefox, alas. I guess they take longer to approve?

Did this just make Readwise obsolete for articles...?

Beautiful, happy for serif fonts to be here! Thanks for this incredible extension.

How can I add font please? It always return not found?

Wonderful job! The clipper is really a gem

nice! any plans for tts support? if not can I make a pr for it?

Maybe I am missing something but why does this need to be part of the extension? Why not use OS-level TTS, or another extension?

I listen to everything I read, selecting text, triggering TTS, and annotating across separate interfaces is a lot of friction. would love to open the clipper, start listening, and focus on notes + highlighting all in one UI.

but if you love TTS presumably you have your preferred voice settings etc, why is it valuable to have that as a separate feature inside Obsidian Web Clipper?

to me, tts makes content more accessible. I think of the voices more like typefaces sure, some are better than others, but really it's just my entry point to consuming the content. Listening while annotating and then saving removes a lot of cognitive cruft for me.

This is really nice! I'm wondering, if I click on a link in an article I'm reading, could you automatically enable reader view in the new link that I navigate to? So that I can stay in 'reader mode' but navigate from article to article etc. Thanks!

not yet, but you can currently do that in Obsidan Web Viewer

That's fantastic! Still I really hope Reader can add the feature to annotate while highlighting!

Do we have an easy way to capture a X/Twitter thread including all the replies?

Yes it's built in

How? When I clip a twitter post, it only contains the first post content and no all the replies

It works for me... Open an issue with specifics steps to reproduce.

Excellent feature, have been waiting for theming and font changes. Thank you

its beautiful. but when i exited the reader i get massive layout issues on the page.

needs more detail, open an issue with steps to repro

not sure how to do that, but will briefly explain: running on latest chrome. click the reader. opens nicely. click the reader icon again from same menu. closes reader. come back to a broken layout. i couldn't reply because the x reply button stopped working too.
