Woman who has been working with Section 8 for 12 years talks about what the program has turned into “It's got some problems. Section 8 was supposed to be a helping hand. It was not supposed to be forever, and it has turned into forever “Section 8. Trump's talking about really reducing the program, and I happen to know a lot about it. I've been working with Section 8 and renting to Section 8 participants for, gosh, almost 12 years now. — I remember when I first started renting and working with Section 8, there was a mom and daughter. This is when we had to go meet them at the office to turn in the packet, and the mom was so proud that her daughter, she was able to, like, get her daughter onto the program and like, pass it down from generation to generation because they knew at that point they were, their rent was going to be covered for the rest of their lives. And we're not talking about people who are disabled and like, physically disabled and can't work. They may have been given a lot in life where they haven't really, like, developed skills or been able to, like, compete within the workforce. But where's the motivation? If you know that your rent's going to get paid, you can get on SNAP benefits, you can get free health care. We've created this society that knows that the government will take care of them and that there's no motivation for them to change their path and to take care of themselves. I mean, in the 12 years I've been doing it, I had 2 tenants work their way off of Section 8. That's it. I'm on average have about 80 to 90 Section 8 leases from year to year. So those aren't really great odds. So I think it would be good for the program to be revamped in some way, shape or form where it rewards those that work rather than it feeling like a punishment”

OKUYUN VE OKUTUN LÜTFEN Bize anlatılan tarih şu; İstanbul'u kim, kaç yılında fethetti? Romayı kim yaktı? İlk halife kimdir? Preveze deniz savaşı kaç yılında kimlerle oldu? Sonrasında 50 yıl boyunca Hababam sınıfıyla san'at (!) adı altında; -Adın ne -Hz. After you learn about this Greek myth, there is no turning back. From that moment on, you become a soldier, sworn to the spirit of Palaiologos, bound to fulfill the legend that lives on in the souls of the Greeks. On May 29, 1453, when the Ottomans entered the City, a massacre followed in Hagia Sophia, and that night the sultan entered the City and made his way to the Great Church. The oldest imam climbed the pulpit and gave thanks to Allah. Mehmet exited Hagia Sophia and proceeded to the old palace of the Emperors. As his slippers stepped upon the mosaics, it is said he whispered the verses of a Persian poet: "The spider weaves its veils in the palace of the Caesars. The owl calls the guards in the towers of Afrasiab." He was only 21 years old. According to George Sphrantzes, a Greek historian and official who wrote the chronicle of the fall of Constantinople, the only one of the four chroniclers to have witnessed it firsthand, and a close friend and collaborator of the last emperor Constantine XI Palaiologos—the conquerors, after the end of the struggle, searched for the emperor’s body: “They washed many heads of the slain, in hopes of identifying the royal one, but could not recognize it—until they found the corpse of the Emperor, and recognized it from the imperial greaves and sandals, on which golden eagles were inscribed, as was the custom for emperors.” The recognition of the emperor's dead body was followed by an order from Sultan Mehmet II to have him buried with proper imperial honors, though the location of the burial was not disclosed. The Greeks mourned the fall of their Queen City, their capital, and their King. Thus, during the years of Ottoman occupation, the secret yearnings of the Greek people became entwined with the legend of the "Marble King" and the "Red Apple Tree." The legend said that at the moment the king was surrounded by the Turks, an angel of the Lord seized him and hid him in a cave, first turning him into marble. In that cave, the “Marble King” waits for centuries until the appropriate time comes—“the fullness of time”—when the angel of the Lord will return his life and sword so that he may drive the Turks out of Constantinople forever. The prophecies say he will chase them as far as the “Red Apple Tree,” and in the final battle, the Turks will be defeated and “the calf will swim in their blood.” The legend further says that the Turks have constantly tried to find the cave where the Marble King lies, in order to build over its entrance so he may never emerge. However, their efforts are always in vain, for the angel guards the Marble King and waits for God’s command to awaken him..

🇮🇷🇮🇱| NEW Documentary on the 12-day war interviewing a high-ranking Iranian Air Defense General. The general says that despite facing against a massive, technologically superior coalition (Israel & 33 countries), Iran’s air defense network remained fully operational despites suffering losses. He says that Iran successfully shot down nearly 196 enemy aircrafts (such as Hermes 900, and Heron 450, etc) and protected the country's airspace, though he admits to sustaining damage to defense systems and the loss of 35 military personnel. The General says Iran was under a massive hybrid warfare attack involving a massive volume of cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, stand-off weapons, and fighters. The general denied rumors that the Iranian air defense system was hacked or shut down. He insists the network did not stop working for "even a single moment." The general says that Iranian defense systems were struck, specifically by "stand-off" weapons (missiles fired from a distance). He also acknowledged the technological disadvantage in fighter jets where Iran operates 2nd generation aircraft while fighting against 5th generation aircrafts by the enemies, however praised the effectiveness of indigenous surface-to-air missiles (like Bavar-373 and 15 Khordad). He talks about Colonel Narimani in Tabriz who evacuated his staff but stayed behind alone to man the console, surviving a strike by 4 missiles (now a disabled veteran). The general also promised that Iran is working on technology to intercept advanced fighter jets (not just drones/missiles) and warns that any future threats will be met with a "crushing response."

A new 10 episode TV series about the Hungarian military hero John Hunyadi and his wars against the Ottomans in the 15th century will be premiere next month. Hunyadi won a string of victories against the Ottomans in the early 1440s before losing the Battle of Varna (Bulgaria) against them in 1444, which he fought side-by-side with the Polish and Hungarian King Władysław III (who was killed in battle). Hunyadi also lost The Second Battle of Kosovo in 1448 against the Ottomans but then won a decisive victory in the Siege of Belgrade in 1456, halting the Ottoman advance toward Central Europe for decades. Just 3 years earlier, the Ottomans had taken Constantinople, striking fear in Christian Europe. Pope Pious II gave him the title “Athleta Christi” (Christ's Champion), a class of soldier martyrs, military saints and Christian commanders with exemplary martial prowess, especially when fighting against non-Christians or heretics. The exclusive list of people holding the title include: •Vlad the Impaler of Wallachia • Skanderbeg of Albania •Ferdinand III of Castile •Louis I of Hungary •Simon de Montfort, Earl of Leicester •Stephen the Great of Moldavia During the Siege of Belgrade, Pope Callixtus III ordered the bells of every European church to be rung every day at noon, as a call for believers to pray for the defenders of the city. It was later transformed into a commemoration of the victory. The Pope did not withdraw the order, and Catholic and the older Protestant churches still ring the noon bell to this day. At the final stage of the Siege of Belgrade, Hunyadi made a charge out of the fortress with his men and captured the Ottoman artillery. The Ottoman Sultan Murad personally joined the battle and was wounded. On July 22nd 1456, the Ottomans decided to retreat and the day is celebrated in Hungary every year. Hunyadi unfortunately contracted the plague and died 3 weeks after the battle. His son Matthias Corvinus was elected King of Hungary a year later in 1457 and would rule Hungary to 1490 as one of its most successful kings ever.

#PODKAZZxJANJINGJING #JanJingjing #JANHAE jan talks about auditioning for kpop and her decision not to go 🥹💜 🦊: when i was a kid, i wanted to be many different things. if we’re talking about from childhood, i actually wanted to be a singer, because… 🎤: since you were a kid? 🦊: yes, since childhood. because i liked korea right? i had idols who were korean artists 🎤: your favorite would be super junior right? (i.e., previously jan talked about the origin of jan ‘hae’) 🦊: if we’re talking about who made me want to become an idol, it would be girls’ generation 🎤: since gee? 🦊: since into the new world! since the first song! yes, i really liked it. and i even went to auditions for korean music labels. but it got to a point where it seemed like i was going to get it. then i reached the stage where i had to talk to my family. at that time, my family hadn’t seen any examples of going there and succeeding. so they didn’t really agree but they didn’t forbid me. so i felt like yeah… i thought the same way my family did… right, they would probably be worried about me. and what if i went and things did work out 🎤: it’s a big deal having to send your kid away. a daughter too. to go live far away from home. it’s a huge decision for the family too 🦊: yes, they were worrried that if i never debut, then what will i do after coming back? i was still studying and hadn’t graduated yet. they thought from an adult’s perspective. so i thought maybe i might as well not go. maybe not now. it’s ok to wait a bit longer. when i decided not to go, i thought, “if i don’t become what i’ve always dreamed of, what else should i be?” so then i thought maybe female prime minister!
