Another milestone in indigenous Shipbuilding! Yard 3037, being constructed under Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) project, was launched at GRSE - Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd , Kolkata on #11Aug 2026 by Mrs Manika Sadhu in the presence of VAdm Sanjay Sadhu, Controller of Warship Production & Acquisition. The construction of NGOPVs is concurrently being undertaken at two shipyards (Goa Shipyard Ltd & #GRSE). Samarthak, the first ship of the indigenously designed and constructed Multi Purpose Vessel (MPV) project, was launched at L&T Shipyard, Kattupalli on #14Oct 24. The Chinese Research Vessel chose not to respond to our radio challenge, as they were focused on retrieving their deep-sea submersible, known as the SHENHAI YONGSHI or Deep-Sea Warrior. This vessel is designed for deep-sea exploration and scientific research, capable of diving to depths of 4,500 meters. Additionally, they deployed a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) to recover a yellow unidentified piece of equipment, which could also be linked to marine scientific research activities. These actions by the CRV clearly indicate that the People's Republic of China is conducting unauthorized marine scientific research activities within the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone, lacking the necessary legal authority for such operations.
