Way outside my expertise, so probably wrong on something here, but shouldn’t we be looking at net private income rather than gross? The BLS series residual includes depreciation plus taxes on production/imports and corporate taxes, which are not private capital income and thus can add noise. According to Tax Foundation, after removing both, unambiguous labor’s share of net income is within historical range, and capital is well short of half:

Fairer would be nice.
