What don’t you still understand after the video of someone literally explaining it step by step? Seems super simple, have you ever used a normal keyboard before? It’s just that except you add a bit of witch craft and some prayers to god that it all works out.

More amazing was the only longhand court reporter I ever used. She'd sit calmly for a good long time - I'd worry if she would miss what was said. Then she'd furiously scribble down a whole page of shorthand and go back sitting calmly. And she got me a transcript in record time.
