@FinnishAirForce @NATO The #NATO Ally. Love that. Go 🇫🇮Suomi!

@FinnishAirForce @NATO That's standard for the Swedish JAS Gripen.

@FinnishAirForce @NATO Resourceful and ready! 🛫 The @FinnishAirForce's use of motorways as runways during Kesäbaana 23 showcases agility and preparedness. Essential for quick response scenarios. 🇫🇮✈️ #AerospaceReadiness #NATO

@minna_alander @FinnishAirForce @NATO Even normal 2-lane highways have short overwide sections, enough for 8 lanes, for a few kilometers length, to be used as temporary airfield. Example: E75 Rovaniemi - Ivalo. I have encountered such section on normal "non-motorway" highways in FI and SE, but nowhere else.

@FinnishAirForce @NATO That is one of the wider location, Hornets can land on roads almost anywhere with "enough" space

@FinnishAirForce @NATO Why did F-16 become the go-to western jet for Ukraine? F/A-18 and Gripen can both operate from motorways while F-16 demands a rather pristine runway.

@FinnishAirForce @NATO Finland is just a great military power...they know exactly who is they neighbour...

@FWN24h @FinnishAirForce @NATO Wouldn't work in the UK. Doubt there's a stretch long enough between roadworks to use as a runway.

@Caucasuswar @FinnishAirForce @NATO Imagine being stuck in stand still traffic bc a jet gotta take off the highway

@rawlimark @FinnishAirForce @NATO The US has started doing the same - a clip from last year showing an A-10 Warthog operating from a road in Michigan, USA.
