I'm raising suspicion on one specific incident today. CBSE's re-evaluation portal today reportedly faced a major cyber attack after results were declared. According to CBSE, the portal received over 15 lakh hits within minutes of launch and recorded more than 1 lakh unauthorized access attempts. Authorities say security measures were activated and the incident is under investigation. Under present conditions when all possible efforts are being made to force Gen-Z to come on streets & turn Bharat into Bangladesh-Nepal, such instances definitely don't look normal.show more

Because of shortcomings in OSM (On-Screen Marking), many parents and children are disappointed. Students don’t just prepare in Class 12; they’ve been working for years, knowing their future depends on it. Students remain focused on competitive exams like JEE and NEET. But due to OSM, many didn’t achieve the required marks, causing stress for families and children. Now, they question why this was introduced suddenly without a proper test run. On social media, students are voicing complaints, though not all reach us directly, but the frustration is clear. If you check CBSE’s Facebook page, you’ll see countless complaints. The official figure says 6.5 lakh students raised objections, but I believe the number should be far higher. Out of 18 lakh students, 12 lakh are from government schools, many in rural areas. If metro city students with laptops struggled, imagine the difficulties faced by rural children with limited access... Training was rushed, with follow-ups missing. Teachers had to log in and practise with sample papers, yet no one verified whether they actually did. Another issue: papers were supposed to be checked by PGT teachers, but due to shortages, TGT teachers were involved. TGTs usually teach up to Class 10, so they may not have fully understood the marking scheme. This could be a reason why some students received lower marks."

Not for a moment will I ever say that we must not give premium to innocence. Democracy is nurtured, its core values blossom, and human rights are taken at a high pedestal when we believe in innocence till the guilt is established. Therefore, I must not be misunderstood as casting aspersions on any individual. But then, in a democratic nation, purity of its criminal justice system defines its direction. Investigation is required. No investigation under law is in progress at the moment. Because for a criminal investigation, the initiation has to be by an FIR—First Information Report. It is not there. It is the law of the land that every cognizable offence is required to be reported to the police. And failure to do so—failure to report a cognizable offence—is a crime. Therefore, you all will be wondering why there has been no FIR. The answer is simple. An FIR in this country can be registered against anyone—any constitutional functionary, including the one before you. One has only to activate the rule of law. No permission is required. But if it is judges—FIR cannot be straightaway registered. It has to be approved by the concerned in judiciary. But that is not given in the Constitution. The Constitution of India has accorded immunity from prosecution only to the Hon'ble President and the Hon'ble Governors. So how come a category beyond law has secured this immunity? Because the ill-effects of this are being felt in the mind of one and all. Every Indian, young and old, is deeply concerned. If the event had taken place at his house, the speed would have been an electronic rocket. Now, it is not even a cattle cart. #RajyaSabha

The government would also then have to file a civil suit which is not what the courts that seem to be on the way that they were following. Second - the notice that has come on 22nd is unspecific and does not specifically talk about what public purpose, what urgent need is there to take over this land in such a short span of time... This lease has been in place for 100 years now, almost. And third - the members having to come would have come to court but today the Gymkhana club is run by 15 people who are nominated by the Government of India. The lesser is the Government of India and the lessee is controlled by the Government of India, so therefore there will be no real fight and which is why the members have to come and agitate the cause in a derivative action to say that the club needs to be protected. He also says, "Fortunately, the court found favour in these arguments. The Solicitor General also then appeared in the matter and said that the government of India will do nothing without following the due process of law. Defendant number 2, the club's counsel, also said that the club has, in fact, written a letter and opposed the government's move to take over and resume the land. The court has taken note of these concerns and passed the order after recording the Solicitor General's statement... It is a reprieve for the club... There will be no eviction on June 5th is what the order would read like."

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park updated the public on the incident of the NSW Healthcare workers seen on video claiming to have killed Israeli Australian patients that come to their hospital. The minister gave assurances to the community, said the workers will be sacked, and never work within the NSW healthcare system again subject to an investigation confirming the contents of the video. The hospital is also under review, to establish if there is a history of such incidents, as concerns grow in the community for the safety of patients attended to by these two heath-care workers. " Those people subject to that investigation will not ever be working for New South Wales Health again. There is no place, no place in our hospital and health system for this sort of view to ever, ever take place. There is no place for this sort of perspective in our society. But hospitals are different in the fact that every single Australian and every single resident of this state should be able to go to their local hospital when they need care and attention and get high quality care that is safe and effective. To the Jewish community today, I say not only am I sorry, but I can assure you this, the care that you get in our hospitals will continue to be first class. We will investigate this uphill and down dale. We will not just be looking at this incident per se, but we will also be obviously going through previous cases to make sure that that hospital has been working in a way that reflects those values around safety and care."

Speculation that the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Rhoose will be used to house Afghans is deeply concerning. I've been contacted by several constituents about this, who are understandably and legitimately concerned. There have also been several reports on social media. As an elected member representing the area, authorities have told me nothing about this. To the best of my knowledge, there has been no public statement issued by the Ministry of Defence. This is unacceptable. Speculation has been ongoing for several days, and an information vacuum has inevitably developed. I therefore wanted to take the opportunity to explain the actions I have undertaken to address this. I have written to the MOD asking them to clarify the situation urgently. To clarify my position, if speculation is correct, I would strongly and categorically oppose the hotel being used for suggested purpose. It is not suitable to provide accomodation of this nature. The hotel was built to provide accomodation for airport passengers. As a result, the vast majority of guests would, in practice, stay at the hotel for a maximum of one night, either before or after their flight. As such, they would not access local NHS services, schools or other public services. This would not be the case if the hotel is used in the manner suggested. By contrast, it would put huge pressure on local amenities and other public services. It is also situated close to a new college that is set to open. If the reports are true, then the plans would have been developed without any consultation with residents. This too would be unacceptable. They should be afforded the opportunity to provide feedback, have their say and raise any concerns they may have. When I receive further updates, I will update residents accordingly. Be assured I will always put the local community first.

Farewell to International Space Station! This is truly a special place, special mission, and special team that makes it happen. It is a bittersweet departure today – I have a keen awareness that I may never be back here, and even if I was, it would be at a different time with a different crew. This chapter is over. Spaceflight has always been a life goal, and it has turned into a life-fulfilling endeavor – but not for the reasons I thought growing up. When I was young, I pictured the launch, the incredible ball of fire and the acceleration, the spacewalks (how could you not wonder what it’s like to be in that suit?), and I was fascinated by the shuttles, capsules, and stations. But as I complete this second mission living and working in space, what draws me to this job is the people. Experiences like this are amazing, but the relationships we build that make it possible are the “why.” Every day, this mission depends on people from all over the world, of different nationalities, races, religions, and cultures. It depends on government and commercial entities, it depends on all political parties, and it depends on commitment to an unchanged goal over many years and decades. It depends on people dedicated to being part of something bigger than themselves, whose names may never be known but who wake up every day to make the world a better place and to be part of something they will be proud to tell their grandkids about. History will look kindly upon them. Humans have always had a propensity to explore … across lands and oceans, up mountains, and into the sky. We as a species will never stop wondering what else is out there, and what it would be like to go. But then, in the words of TS Elliot, “…at the end of all our exploring, will be to arrive where we started, and know the place for the first time.” Crew-10 is on its way home.

The moment I entered, I started seeing posters mocking the Prime Minister. Not posters demanding justice for the NEET paper leak. Not posters about the CBSE issues. Not posters highlighting the larger problems students are facing in education. It was almost entirely about PM Modi. That’s what made it feel so politically targeted. A protest usually has a clear demand - a “maang” that those in power are being asked to fulfill. But here, I saw opposition leaders being welcomed with applause and affection, while many Gen Z attendees who had simply come to observe were being exposed to a strongly political narrative. There’s nothing wrong with holding a protest against the Prime Minister if that’s your objective. Be transparent about it. But don’t organize it in the name of NEET, display photographs of students who lost their lives by suicid£, and then turn the stage into something that appears focused on politics rather than the students’ demands. If the issue is political, call it political. If the issue is NEET, keep the focus on NEET. Mixing the two, especially while invoking the memory of students who died, felt deeply shameful to me.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat- "There is no election to the post of RSS chief. Regional and divisional heads appoint the Chief. Generally, it is said that after turning 75, one should work without holding any post. Ready to step down if Sangh asks me to do so. When RSS was founded, its work began in a Brahmin-dominated community and hence, most of its founders were Brahmins, which led to the organisation being labelled as a Brahmin outfit at the time. If I were to choose a chief, I would go by the 'best available candidate' criterion. When I was appointed RSS chief, there were many best candidates, but they were not available. I was the one who could be relieved from duties and appointed. What we need to think about is finding solutions rather than focusing on problems. As long as truth does not come forward, illusion remains effective. Sangh's work was about inculcating "sanskar" (values) and not about campaigning. If an area has a population of 10,000, we try to work there. Once we spread geographically, all classes and communities will be reached. If you look at the top circle of RSS, most communities have representation. Our volunteers are told to support those who fight corruption. RSS is in favour of strict laws and legislation against corruption and will support action against corrupt people."

It is only when a Minister is not available to respond to debate on a Bill, that it is postponed, but Finance Minister is sitting right there! What is the rush to pass #TransBill in #LokSabha today itself? Second, as Rijiju seeks sense of the House, several MPs from the Opposition, in fact, oppose and categorically demand that Bill be sent to a Select Committee to consult with stakeholders from Trans community. They even say that they raised this demand in Business Advisory Committee meeting as well and Rijiju concedes to this. Rijiju himself says that Congress, SP, AITC and NCP(SP) made a request for Bill to be sent to Committee. And then Rijiju makes several unsubstantiated claims: 1. The Bill was never placed in public domain as Pre-Legislative Consultation Policy 2014 mandates. Where has this debate happened? Who participated in it? 3. Even the Statement of Objects & Reasons of the Bill doesn't mention any recommendation from a Standing Committee report. 4. We are not going against any community - why are people from trans community protesting the Bill then? So, if the Bill is very good, very important, for the welfare of people from Transgender community, then why is the Govt not willing to send the Bill to a Committee? Rijiju keeps saying - Bill has to be passed today, let's not delay. An MP can be heard in the background asking - "itni jaldi kya hai"? Indeed, why the rush? They started taking political benefits from it right from the next day saying, 'When you vote, remember the sacrifices of Pulwama soldiers'," said Satya Pal Malik, former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, as spoke about the 2019 Pulwama terror attack. Today marks seven years since 40 CRPF personnel were martyred in the terror attack that shook the nation on 14 February 2019. Here's a lookback at Malik's conversation with Eshwar in February 2024 in which he levelled allegations against his own party's government. When asked why he did not step down as the Governor following the attack, he said: "The truth is, I had spoken up two hours after the incident. The PM was on a shoot at Jim Corbett National Park. He met me in the evening and asked about what happened. I thought there would be a probe. All this was while I was the Governor. They had asked for 5 aircraft which they had denied. I would ferry stuck students in aircraft. If they hadn't taken the road, the incident would not have happened." "People say whatever they want to. If one is to look at it responsibly, I was the head of a state. I was not there to precipitate a crisis. I could only try to explain things. I did that. I spoke to the PM about that. But I cannot be expected to resign every day over everything. I highlighted it, and I spoke up," he said.
