Odd seeing complaints on #Highguard feeling empty or not seeing enemies. Are folk playing it properly? Matches have a flow: Reinforce base Get loot/resources Get Shield Breaker on spawn Use it to break shield Plant dombs Last 3 parts players congregate, hence more action. #PS5

Even your gameplay shows how empty the world is lol

This isn't meant to be Call of Duty or some twitch shooter. MP Iive service games can be slower paced with exploration or traversal down time, see Arc Raiders.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not comparing HG to any other games at all. While the concept of the game is great, the 3 v 3 kills it. Big maps with capture and defend objectives but they limit each match to 6 players. 😅

@nib95_ Apex started the same way, you could only queue for 3 man squads then it expanded over time into something many occupy a lot of their time with.

@Wickhtofen @nib95_ Apex didn’t start with 3 v 3. It started with 20 teams of 3s, THEN eventually a smaller 3 v 3 arena mode was released. A big map for 6 players is not good design. Imagine going into a 30 v 30 map in BF with 3 players and no bots each side. Also wrong genre to compare it to.

If ya need to explain this many steps in a shooter. Ya failed.

@commie_pope In this TikTok and Insta centric day and age where people have the attention spans of gnats, I fear you may be right.

This is coming from the guy that could not beat Silksong.

What are you talking about? Not only did I beat Silksong, I didn't even find it that challenging. There's less than a handful of truly challenging bosses I'd argue, but they're more cheap than anything.

Cap, you finished act 2 and called it a day. The game is completed when you finish act 3 by beating Lost Lace in the abyss.

I think the game is super fun! 🤩 I’m so tired of people hating everything ! What do they like ? lol

"Player's naturally congregate the way the game is designed." So what's the point of a big fucking map?

The exploration and thrill of horse riding to get to those points. Not to mention most of the time you end up engaging in combat while on your horse getting to those points.

They’re just complaining to complain. I’m literally in action the entire game except for about 2 minutes when looting, and sometimes we still end up in fights. One kid takes another kids comment and debates people and hasn’t even played the game. It’s a cycle and trend

This generation is full of fake gamers and all they do is complain like bitches over everything and literally find any reason to bitch about games instead of actually having a braincell to give games chance as it all about what negative they can find rather than simply having fun

It doesn’t matter if you use the argument you’re playing it wrong. It’s not the players job to have fun on a certain set of traintracks if people don’t like it it’s a game design flaw

You’re correct, you ride out and mine and open chests and when the shield breaker spawns it’s a battle from there to get the breaker to either base, even earlier if you go for the airdrop which has amazing gear in it I had a lot of fun yesterday, wanna play more tonight

the first two phases are longer than the other three, and consist of absolutely 0 enemy interaction. and even in those last three, you're not gonna be interacting with the enemy much because there's only fucking 3 of them.

But in the final stages they respawn in like 10-15 seconds right back into combat. And the latter stages last longer depending on the competency of the defending team.

10-15 seconds in a game like this is a long ass time. and even if that final phase can in theory take a long time(it won't), getting the shield breaker and breaking the shield are going to always take more time. and it consists of "fighting" on a giant empty map.

Except you don't fight on a giant map in those moments, you continually spawn into the choke points. I guess my patience is better than most. I do not need constant shoot shoot bang bang to enjoy such a game.

in that one part of the match, yes. that is a small part of the match, most of it is on the giant empty map. and at that point I can just load up fallout 4 and stand in place for 5 minutes and then play a match of tf2 to get the exact same experience.

I dont understand most gamers on twitter I guess. The vast majority of takes I see are people on the hedonic treadmill or just outright unfoundly negative. I think the oversaturation of games have many outcomes of peoples feelings about games, this is some of the few.

64 kills combined and people talking about ain’t no enemies 😂

I feel like it's because a key piece of information is hidden after the tutorial which I imagine a bunch of people skipped, which is the "advanced tutorial" that video should have been released to socials right after the game awards because it would have cleared up any confusion

“Reinforce base” My brother in Christ all you do is make some walls stronger, why is this part necessary, like they could have added traps and other defenses for you to set up. The first step is so unnecessary and a waste of time.

The point is so that in the final stage, a single special or grenade isn't enough to get to the node or bomb point, and when they finally do, there's specific choke points.

They are def not playing it the way it’s intended. Someone said it was boring. Idk how. I’ve been in constant gunfights and the loot loop is satisfying

Just because there's a flow doesn't mean it's good. It's barren at the start, only you and your team. I don't get a single interaction until the sword shows up. And then after that, yeah lots of encounter with the enemy... At one of the bases. Having that big map is pointless.

it’s a perfectly fine, inoffensive game. and honestly, that’s part of the problem. it doesn’t do any one thing better than any other game I’ve played or am playing.

I may have to give it another go. I've only played for about an hour

Warzone style looting phase with no real end game payoff, gaps between action and player encounters are too large especially for mid and end game, at the very least the player count needs increasing. That’s a fact Let’s stop pretending the game is just fine as is. Patches WILL come because things need some changes

We have to remember a lot of people are bad at games, they will spawn in and just roam around the map looking for fights and immediately die instead of partaking in the gameplay loop and gearing themselves to or upgrading. Those are the type of players calling the game trash.

No fr lol, we fought over an AIRDROP before the shield breaker even spawned lol people just aren’t playing right

yeah, i think it could benefit from a couple more ppl but not one game have i had trouble finding ppl

It’s the ADHD gamer epidemic. It’s not constant chaos so it’s bad. The game is slower and more deliberate—positioning, awareness, and decision-making actually matter. 3v3 works because fights breath. If the game was a huge clash it would just be another shooter.

This looks fun I’ll have to check it when I’m able to get home again downside of working away

High level Highguard will prob be fun imo. The base building and what not is impossible to do in a random queue tho and it may become harder down the line if pinging/mics aren’t used wider. Felt like (it’s the first day) I was having to sit back while my duo would dip. Never saw anyone but me reinforce or rebuild unless I yelled loud enough lol.

Some people brains aren’t fully developed

That looks like some kind of an evolution to the MOBA formula. Kinda neat, even if it's not for me.

agreed. but only change id like to see is lowering cost of upgrades so gearing phase is faster. and more resources nodes.

As more players learn the maps and the flow, more skirmishes happened. early on people felt the maps were too large, but once you learn the map flows, you realize if they were any smaller, you would be ontop of the other team within seconds which would cause a snowball effect

Playing it the way you should but the open portion needs NPCs that grief you while looting.

Boring

get fucked shill!

Players just have cocomelon brains 😂 need action 25/8

I haven’t had the chance to download and play it but it’s going to struggle to sustain a high number of players. The good thing is at least there are some innovative mission structures. How do you think it will go given you have played it?

It’s fun but doesn’t lend itself to solo players. Feels like playing with a tight crew of 3 who constantly communicate would completely transform the experience.
