During a demonstration of a low-altitude parachute drop, the pilot pulled up too late. The airplane skidded for 1000 ft on a dirt runway, hit a vehicle, and caught fire. The maneuver demonstrated by the aircraft [Registration “68-10945”] was the LAPES - Low-Altitude Parachute-Extraction System – where aircraft deliver supplies without landing in areas that can´t be supplied by high-altitude parachute drops. This maneuver is no longer used by the US military.

American Eagle CRJ-900 had to be evacuated at Augusta Regional Airport on Tuesday morning after smoke entered the cabin while taxiing to the gate. “American Eagle flight 5406, operated by PSA Airlines, with service from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) to Augusta Regional Airport (AGS), experienced a maintenance issue after landing safely in Augusta. All passengers deplaned and were escorted to the airport terminal. Southwest Airlines has confirmed that one of its flights was forced to take evasive action to avoid colliding with another flight at Nashville International Airport over the weekend. Southwest reports that while approaching BNA amid gusty wind conditions, pilots of Southwest Flight 507 executed a precautionary go-around. During that action, the pilots used instructions from air traffic control and an onboard traffic alert to avoid conflicting with Southwest Flight 1152, which was departing from another runway. Flight 507 was able to land after the go-around and Flight 1152 continued to its destination in Knoxville. “We are engaged with the FAA as part of the investigation. Southwest appreciates the professionalism of its Pilots and Flight Crews in responding to the event. Pilot critically injured after crashing during the Avalon Australian International Airshow, south-west of Melbourne. Police say emergency services were called to reports a plane had lost control while conducting a demonstration and crashed into the tarmac about 5:15pm on Friday. A Victoria Police spokesperson said the crash happened a significant distance from spectators and there were no other people injured. The plane is believed to have been a part of the Paul Bennett Aerobatics team that crashed during the first public day of the event. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) said it had been notified of the incident and would be investigating.

Our Operations Control Centre and supporting teams have been working around the clock to facilitate these flights in extraordinary circumstances, ensuring seamless coordination throughout.
