A couple things…One, OSU did stop Texas in a similar position in the 2025 Cotton Bowl so Day probably thought he could do it again. And two, the OSU offense was not cooking. They scored 3 second half point and Smith was shutdown midway through Q3. Having said that, you’re probably right.

Texas gave OSU the first half with fluke plays. Second half was clicking and the better team stood tall. BTW, the OSU S&C coach is obviously a tampon user.

I get it BUT until last night Texas has shown an inability to get into the end zone in these situation. And on that play the ball did come out. Tough call either way.

Context is key tho. Texas got stuffed vs ou on the 1 yard line 4 times in 2023. Lost the game. Stuffed in 2024 by OSU in cotton bowl (bad play calling too), then stuffed on the 1 in 25 at the horse shoe. There was a track record here. And honestly it wasn’t a bad idea by Day

Ok - and Texas laid down and asked them to run all over them for 3 quarters but they couldn’t. So then Texas had enough of the BS and slapped them down. Sure, the 3 point club was the key, but it was all in Ohio’s turf to get it done. Win is a win, no excuses.
