Old incandescent desk lamps fixed people’s vision better than specialized red-light devices, and the effect lasted two months. Dr. Glen Jeffery’s team took a windowless university space full of harsh LED lighting and simply placed the lamps around. No special protocol, staff just worked, ate lunch, used the bathroom...

Incandescent lamps are full spectrum including infrared. Only the most expensive cinematic LEDs are full spectrum. Consumer grade LEDs are not - they also flicker due to PWM cycling on/off at high speed introducing neurological issues!

Two interesting but little addressed facts about IR. 1) certain IR frequencies can penetrate fairly deeply into the human body; 2) an ignored study demonstrated the spike protein on c19 was damaged from a specific safe IR frequency as well as the more dangerous UV-C light. If true, think about the implications.

I've been recommending incandescent light bulbs. But what about your kitchen? Your bathroom? Incandescents don't fit most of those fixtures. The answer: halogen bulbs. Glen Jeffery, UCL: "In the kitchen I have got a halogen lamp. When you get up in the morning and you're spending that 45 minutes doing stuff — there's a halogen lamp there on at the right time." Halogen is a type of incandescent. Almost identical full spectrum output. Infrared included. The key difference: Halogen bulbs contain halogen gas that redeposits tungsten back onto the filament as it evaporates — longer lifespan, same full spectrum output. The result: longer lifespan than a standard incandescent, higher operating temperature, and slightly whiter light — but still full spectrum with significant infrared output. Like incandescents, halogen bulbs have been phased out and banned across much of Europe and the UK. But they can still be found — Amazon, specialist lighting suppliers, some hardware stores still carry stock. And if you can dim them: "If you just turn the power down — which increases the amount of infrared light — the bulb will last almost forever." Jeffery's team ran a study in a windowless UCL building under harsh LED lighting. They replaced desk lamps with 40W incandescent bulbs — not aimed at eyes, just supplementing the environment. Two weeks later: color perception improved significantly — more than anything they'd seen with long-wavelength LEDs. They removed the bulbs. Came back six days later. The improvement was maintained. A month later — still maintained. Jeffery: "We are suffering from a suppression of our physiology via mitochondria that is just being produced by the built environment." The fix doesn't have to be complicated. Incandescent bulbs where you can. Halogen in the kitchen and bathroom where you can't. Indoor lighting environment sorted.

𝗜 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗦𝗞𝗘𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗢𝗢 — 𝗦𝗢 𝗜 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟. Andrew Huberman recently told Bill Maher something that sounds wild — that the long-wavelength red and infrared light present in sunlight and old incandescent bulbs actually passes through your body, charges your mitochondria, improves your vision, and helps regulate blood sugar. And that the short-wavelength-dominant LED lights now in most of our homes may be quietly undermining mitochondrial function. His words: 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘺. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘺. I was skeptical too. So I looked it up. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗿-𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗱. Professor Glen Jeffery at University College London — one of the researchers Huberman specifically names — published a study in 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 in July 2025 confirming that infrared wavelengths from sunlight measurably pass through the human torso, even through clothing, and that just 15 minutes of exposure improved color vision by 16% (blue axis) and 9% (red axis) in participants — measured 24 hours later, even when light was blocked from their eyes during exposure. A separate study from the same lab showed that red light exposure reduced post-meal blood glucose spikes by 27%. These aren't fringe blogs. This is University College London published in Nature's Scientific Reports. The mechanism Huberman describes checks out. Your mitochondria contain water that absorbs long-wavelength red and infrared light — the same reason reds disappear when you go underwater. That absorption drives better ATP production, the energy currency of your cells. The retina has more mitochondria per cell than almost any other tissue in the body, which is why vision improvements show up as such a clean measurable signal. 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲. The Biden administration's energy efficiency regulations effectively phased out most incandescent bulbs. The stated reason was energy savings. What was never part of the regulatory conversation — at all — was the growing scientific literature suggesting that the near-infrared wavelengths stripped out of LED lighting may have real biological consequences. Whether that was ignorance or indifference, the result is the same: Americans were nudged by government policy into lighting that the emerging science suggests is metabolically inferior. 𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁? Huberman himself is practical about this — he has LEDs at home and isn't panicking. Here's what the science actually points to: The primary solution is sunlight. Outdoors sunlight delivers near-infrared at levels no bulb can match. Even 15 minutes outside — clothed — appears sufficient to trigger measurable effects. If you work near a window, that helps too. For indoor lighting, not all LEDs are equal. Look for "full spectrum" or "broad spectrum" LED bulbs that include wavelengths in the 600–900 nm range. "Warm white" LEDs (2700–3000K color temperature) are closer to incandescent output and include more red-spectrum light than the cool blue-dominant bulbs. They're not a perfect substitute for sunlight, but they're meaningfully better than standard cool-white LEDs for this purpose. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱: get outside every day. Eat near a window. If you're replacing bulbs, choose warm-spectrum LEDs. And maybe ask why a government that claims to care about public health never thought to ask what stripping infrared out of every American home might do to the people living in them.

SUPPLEMENTING YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT WITH AN INCANDESCENT LIGHT BULB IMPROVES MITOCHONDRIAL FUNCTION! - A brand new (Jan 23th, 2026) paper published by Glen Jeffery and Edward Barrett demonstrates how adding a 60 W incandescent lamp to participants work desk dramatically improves color contrast, or a proxy for color vision. The intervention here is simply placing an incandescent lightbulb on the desk without direct irradiation on participants. And this is huge: “we have obtained significant balanced improvements in both the protan and tritan range. Previously, exposure to restricted experimental 670 nm resulted in improvements biased strongly in favour of only tritan function. Hence, exposure to full spectrum lighting results in a balanced pattern of improvement in visual performance.” The mechanism seems to be mitochondrial in nature. Short wavelength light, which is dominated in standard LED lighting, reduces mitochondrial function. There’s a reduction in mitochondria ATP production, and therefore a reduced demand for glucose. This intern can increase body weight and serum cytokinin levels. Also, with short wavelength blue light, there is an increase probability of cell aging and death. “It is suggested that this is partly due to 420–450 nm light, dominant in LEDs, being absorbed by porphyrin and the subsequent production of oxygen singlets driving inflammation.” “Conversely, exposure to longer wavelengths is associated with increased mitochondrial membrane potential and increased concentration of mitochondrial complex proteins that have declined with ageing and disease. This in turn is associated with elevated ATP, reduced inflammation and extended average lifespan.“ So, for the love of mitochondria, get long-wavelength light! This can be done in many ways: -sunlight/daylight exposure (does not need to be direct sunlight) -fire light -incandescent light bulbs -LEDs that emit long-wavelength light (yes, LEDs CAN emit red and near-infrared, but most don’t)

Announcing LUMIOS, the world's first human-friendly LED. Powered by revolutionary Ra Incandescent LED technology, Lumios addresses the problems of conventional LED lighting. 1. excess blue light -> low / optimized blue light • Conventional LEDs emit excessive blue light, threatening the eyes, chronically overstimulating the hormonal & nervous systems, and disrupting sleep and cellular repair. • Lumios uses advanced LED chips and light conversion technology to smooth the spectrum, reducing unnatural blue spikes and offering a low-blue, hormonally neutral spectrum, which supports balance and rejuvenation. 2. near-infrared absence -> near-infrared enriched • Conventional LEDs completely lack the near-infrared wavelengths which are essential for eyes, skin, and cellular health. • Lumios utilizes advanced phosphor technology to emit significant quantities of near-infrared light, comparable to a traditional incandescent bulb, and more than any broadband visible LED ever made. 3. poor color rendering -> ultra-high color rendering • Conventional LEDs emit a deficient spectrum which causes people and objects to appear pale, dull, and lifeless. • Lumios’ broad spectrum offers the highest color rendering ever achieved with an LED — almost identical to a standard incandescent bulb — so you can experience people and objects in their true colors. Everything looks and feels better. 4. AC flicker -> flicker-free • Conventional LEDs utilize cheap circuitry which carries AC voltage onto the light source, causing a rapid sub-perceptible flicker which has been linked to migraine headaches and cognitive disturbance. • Lumios utilizes high-quality circuitry to remove AC flicker, allowing your brain and nervous system to relax — while allowing you to think clearly and perform your best. 5. excessive brightness -> multi-modal design • Standard LEDs are typically far too bright, optimized for maximum brightness and efficiency rather than visual comfort. • Lumios utilizes an advanced multi-modal design — compatible with standard light switches — providing you with optimal light for every space, setting, and time of day. Lumios unifies the biological benefits of the classic incandescent spectrum with the technological capabilities of LED technology, making it the most advanced light ever created. Experience a new light. Available now.

Dr. Andrew Huberman just confirmed a “wild conspiracy theory” about incandescent lights and LED bulbs. The long wavelengths found in incandescents increase your metabolism and “charge your mitochondria.” Conversely, the LED bulbs that most of you have in your house are “causing disruptions in mitochondrial function.” DR. ANDREW HUBERMAN: “Your mitochondria function better, you increase ATP production, your metabolism increases in the presence of red light, long wavelength light to the skin.” “Shine long wavelength light on somebody, watch blood glucose levels in a blood glucose test, and it’s blunted.” “Now, the LED lights that are commonly used now… that short wavelength light, in the absence of long wavelength light, has been shown to damage the mitochondria.” “This used to be considered crazy. This was like chemtrail crazy, right?” “But now we’re starting to see from animal studies and human studies, from Glenn Jeffreys and others, that people’s vision gets better when they get in front of an incandescent bulb once a day.” “If they get sunlight, which also has long-wavelength light, your vision improves because of improvements in mitochondria.” The Biden administration quietly pushed incandescents out of the market through aggressive energy regulations. But you can still find them online today if you look hard enough. If that health insight stood out to you, there’s a lot more where that came from.

After a brief warning of what’s coming next, the conversation shifted to what you can do about your health right now. Dr. Ealy revealed the remarkable benefits of incandescent bulbs, describing them as a “great thing,” showing a giant wave of red light (the healthy type). “Go back to incandescents. It’s the easiest fix,” he said. “You will immediately feel calm and slow in your home. I’ve been doing this with some students… and people have been like ‘Oh my God. It’s instantaneous that my entire nervous system calms down.” The Biden administration effectively banned incandescent bulbs in 2023 by enforcing strict energy efficiency rules. Go figure. But you can still find them in limited quantities online or possibly at your local hardware store. Maria then dropped an insight most people haven’t considered: the ban on incandescent light bulbs might not be about energy efficiency at all. It’s about control—specifically, genetic control. The field is called optogenetics, and it uses light to manipulate gene expression. “They’ve figured out how to alter your genes through LED lights,” she warned. Dr. Ealy backed her up with a chilling explanation. Blue light from everyday devices (phones, TVs, and computers) isn’t just disrupting sleep. It’s triggering something already inside us. “They put the Trojan horse in you,” he said, referring to DNA fragments and plasmids from the COVID shots. Then, when you’re staring at your screen at night, “you’re getting hit with spikes of blue light.” That’s when the activation happens. The fix, according to Ealy, is surprisingly simple: “Bathe yourself in incandescent light.”

⚡ RECIPE TO PROTECT YOURSELF IF YOU WORK IN AN OFFICE 1️⃣ 🌞Morning Sunlight = Non-negotiable If your job starts after sunrise, spend 10–15 minutes outside looking at the sky. Doesn’t matter if it’s raining, snowing, or cloudy; infrared light still passes through and starts your circadian clock through the eyes. No sunglasses, no screens. Let natural UV + IR set your biological rhythm. 😬 but If you start before sunrise, buy a near-infrared lamp and turn it on while getting ready. It’s the next-best option. 2️⃣ 🔵Blue-Blocking Glasses = A Must Wear amber lenses under office LEDs. After 4 p.m., switch to red lenses if still under artificial light. 3️⃣🥋Natural Clothing for Protection Choose natural fabrics like wool, cotton, or linen. They don’t hold static charge like synthetics and let your body breathe. Indoors, pick dark colors (black, navy, charcoal) to block excessive artificial light. Remember: Hair, hand, and neck. EMF-blocking fabrics are even better if you can afford them. 4️⃣🆘Add Infrared Support Keep a near-infrared therapy light on your desk or near your computer. If you can’t afford it, use small red bulbs, halogen, or incandescent lamps instead to replace missing infrared from LEDs. 5️⃣💻Screen Filters & Settings On your computer, activate Night Shift, f.lux, or Iris; set color temperature around 1800–2000 K (red/orange tone) if can go bellow better.. if you can bring your own, buy one of those pc with Build-in-blue-light-filters.(if you can afford) If you can not buy a blue-light filter film for your monitor. Reduce brightness slightly; increase contrast for comfort. 6️⃣🪑Reposition Your Desk Sit near a window and open it if possible. Avoid sitting directly under fluorescent or LED ceiling lights. If coworkers ask why you opened the window, say it’s to “circulate the stagnant air.” 😉 Remember: even if the window is far from you, cracking it open still helps. The Lid Experiment shows that infrared light passes through even the smallest gaps, meaning that open window benefits everyone in the office; including you. ☀️ 7️⃣🚬Light Breaks…Your “Fake Smoke” Trick Every 90 minutes, go outside for 3–5 minutes of natural light. Hold a real cigarette, and fake it... you’re feeding your mitochondria, not nicotine. 8️⃣🌳Ground at Lunch Step outside and find the biggest tree near your office. Touch it with bare hands or feet for one minute; trees discharge harmful stray currents from the ground. Even one minute of grounding stabilizes your body’s electrical charge. 9️⃣💦Hydrate Intelligently Drink mineral or spring water, not distilled. Add a pinch of sea salt and a few drops of local lemon juice to improve structure and conductivity. (Check my page for the big crystal water pitcher setup to structure your water naturally.) 🔟💡Reduce Reflections & Glare Use matte screen protectors and avoid glossy surfaces; glare amplifies blue frequencies. 🚫Keep Tech Off the Body Never rest a laptop on your lap. Keep phones and routers off or away when not in use. 🌅Sunset Reset After work, go outside for sunset light exposure. It tells your brain that the day is ending and resets your circadian rhythm. ⚫️🏴‍☠️Dark Office Cleanup If you are alone and must stay late, use red light only. If note, cover you body head to toe… Avoid bright screens and overhead LEDs after dark…., 🍱 🧬 Feed the Mitochondrial Antenna Seafood = DHA rebuilds light-conducting membranes. Magnesium & sulfur-rich foods (eggs, onions, garlic) = support redox cycling….

December 14, 2025 24 Kislev 5786 As Alexis and I settle in to light our first Hanukkah candles as a married couple, our hearts ache in the aftermath of two mass shootings - one at Brown University, and another at a Jewish gathering at Bondi Beach in Sydney. The latter was yet another horrific terrorist attack in which Jews were targeted solely because they were Jewish. As we light our menorah tonight, we hold the victims and their families close. We are praying for those who are injured, mourning those whose lives were taken in such senseless violence, and grieving with communities shattered by hate. Alexis is Jewish, and I am Christian. Together, and alongside people of faith across the world, we share a painful truth: horrific things do happen. Darkness does come. Wretched evil does exist. The violence of this weekend is meant to strike fear into the hearts of those who will kindle their menorahs tonight. Religious violence is rising, and antisemitism, both here in the United States and around the world, including in Australia, is surging in particularly horrific and too often violent ways. But Hanukkah calls us to resist fear. Happy Hanukkah. May the spirit of this holiday - the improbable victory of the Maccabees, and the oil that burned for eight nights - inspire us now. Perhaps the true miracle of Hanukkah is that more than 2,000 years later, despite horrors, pogroms, the Holocaust, and ongoing hatred, the Jewish people still create light. Still make latkes. Still spin dreidels. Still sing defiant songs of joy. Still gather, still love, still hope. Each time we choose light over darkness, we become part of the ongoing miracle of Hanukkah. From our new family to yours, we wish you a meaningful and joyful Hanukkah. And we hold you in our prayers for peace. Alexis and Cory
