Then, as victory was in sight, along came the trans movement and its incoherent demands for the medical conversion of healthy bodies in gender clinics. And they snatched his victory away. How could anyone not want to ban giving electric shocks to gay kids? The answer is 'converting' children who think they're trans to being 'cisgendered'. That's where the impetus for this ban has come from — well-funded pro-trans lobby groups like Stonewall and Mermaids. So any parent who 'misgenders' their confused adolescent daughter, or tries to talk them out of embarking on an irreversible medical pathway, could face criminal charges for trying to 'convert' them. And we're not talking about out a slap on the wrist. In the state of Victoria, Australia, which brought in a conversion therapy ban in 2021, the maximum penalty for trying to 'convert' someone is 10 years in prison. It won't just be parents and medical professionals who will risk imprisonment for trying to talk gender-confused children out of mutilating themselves. Any religious leader who shares the teachings of their faith on issues like homosexuality and gay marriage, could also face prosecution. That's what this authoritarian Government wants to ban — any dissent from radical progressive orthodoxy when it comes to sex and gender. In the 1950’s and 60’s some people thought homosexuality should be ‘treated’ with hormone injections. Sadly, despite all the advances in gay rights, some people still think that. The draft Conversion Practices bill could make it safer to tell someone “yes, you have been born in the wrong body” rather than ask questions about why they feel that way - including the fact that they might be struggling to accept that they’re LGB. This law could end up enforcing the very thing it claims to seek to ban. In 2026, young people growing up to be gay deserve better than this. Much better. Want to help spread this message? Today marks an important step forward for equality. I am proud to be introducing a Bill in the Assembly to ban so‑called “conversion therapy” in Northern Ireland. These cruel, archaic and harmful practices have no place in our society. No one should face harm or coercion because of who they are or who they love. This legislation is about protecting LGBTQ+ people from abuse and ensuring that everyone is respected, included, and treated with dignity. Together, we can build a fair, shared and equal society for everyone. 🌈

They do not have enough evidence to show that pausing puberty, chemically castrating, and amputating the body parts of minors is the best thing to do for their mental health. Official medical guidelines are being updated in Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and France to pump the brakes on the new gay conversion therapy. But the USA is embracing child sexual mutilation. Despite this horrid medical scandal being outlawed in states across the nation, Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine still insists on lying about the "overwhelming science and evidence."
