I will NEVER forget what you did for us. Those first moments were scary and felt like we were alone. News of this help was such a relief. It was also impressive, they got them down safely so fast! I didn’t vote for Trump. What’s happening with Canada breaks my heart.

Did you do this to help or did you do it for the virtue signaling points that came with it? I remember the Canadian media gloating over how generous and important Canada was for letting flights land on empty air strips. That was a Canadian nation building moment just like the UN peacekeepers. It’s the type of thing that Canada used as an excuse to evade its NATO obligations since the 1960s. Today that is used again to demonstrate supposed moral superiority while the US carries the actual burden.

Canada even gave the Broadway a feel good musical to boot!

@Linda__Stevens And one of those stranded passengers was a friend of mine. We -the residents of the US - remain extremely grateful to Canada for you support them & continued support with our wildfires. We are trying to stop Trump from destroying our relationship with you.

I remember stores being opened to passengers and crews for personal supplies and drug stores filling critical prescriptions at no cost. I remember children were given plenty of toys and dedicated play areas. The sad part is so many Americans don't know and even more don't care.

And Canada did this not knowing who might be on these planes. That's what close allies do for each other. I hope things can return to normal.
