On this day in 2008, Sen. McCain put civility over politics—shutting down false claims about his opponent during a town hall-style campaign event and defending then-Senator Obama as “a decent family man citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with.”

This video aged poorly.

@jaketapper Democrats love any Republican that doesn't try to win against Democrats

@casshutchinson_ Aren’t you the one who lied to the unselected, bogus January 6th committee about Trump trying to choke a Secret Service agent? Hmmm. That’s a crime. Wonder when the statute of limitations run out. @realDonaldTrump

"At least I was civil!"

Everyone needs to take a beat and understand who McCain was & what he stood for. You might not agree with all of his politics. He was an original, the last of his generation to put country and people above BS when it mattered. The GOP has drifted into a cult without him.

John McShitSandwich lied to his constituents about blocking Obozocare. When it came down to it, he sided with the Democrats, and saddled the country with another useless federal program.

@casshutchinson_ Seeing your leaked text messages all over X this morning. You should be preparing yourself for jail for all of your lies.

@casshutchinson_ This you?!? 🤦

TRAITOR 🤬🤬🤬

This was one of many things that lost him the election. A lifelong loser, the model “conservative”.
