A significant first on India's Western Dedicated Freight Corridor on Saturday. Indian Railways has run its first double-stack long-haul (422km distance) container train from JNPT to Varnama in Vadodara division — carrying 360 TEUs. The 1.3km rake left at 7 pm on 21 August 2026, formed by combining two double-stack rakes. (One TEU is one long 20-foot container.)

We had to get up early because Big Boy's schedule had changed, so we headed out of the mountains into the Great Central Valley outside Lincoln, CA. It was a cold, rainy day, which made for some dramatic scenes. We parked by an "at-grade" crossing where trains usually blow their horns. We were not disappointed! Why was it going so slowly? That paid off big time for us as another train was coming, and Big Boy had been put on a siding track while a freight train passed. That allows us some time to get up close and personal with the massive engine.

Have you noticed this trend: In the past few years, most new trains introduced by Indian Railways have been either Vande Bharat (premium, short-distance) or Amrit Bharat (non-AC, long-distance for lower fares). But where are the regular long-distance trains? Since COVID, very few new long-distance services have been introduced, and the impact is clearly visible. Getting a confirmed ticket on busy routes has become a nightmare. Instead, we see: • “Special” trains that aren't punctual • Additional halts slowing down existing services • Extensions of current trains instead of introducing new ones This isn’t about opposing Vande Bharat or Amrit Bharat, they serve their purpose well. But what about the millions of long-distance passengers? Most long-distance trains today are running over capacity, yet there’s little focus on expanding services, as a rail enthusiast, it’s hard to even recall a significant number of new long-distance trains added in recent years. It’s high time Ministry of Railways prioritizes new long-distance trains on high-demand routes.

Many people still don't grasp just how quickly India is moving 🇮🇳 The new Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) will be completed in the next few years. The $100 billion project started in 2007 and has seen significant Japanese investment since the start. Stretching approximately 1,500 kilometers between the capital city Delhi (metro pop. of 34M) and India's financial capital Mumbai (metro pop. of 21M, this initiative will enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth by developing smart cities, industrial parks along a new Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and the new Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (railway). The 1350 km 8-lane wide (expandable to 12-lane) expressway connecting the two mega-cities will be completed next year and will reduce the travel time from 24h to 11h. The 1500 km Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) will also be completed in 2025. The high-speed line will support freight trains reaching 1,500 m (4,900 ft) length pulled by electric locomotives running at speeds greater than 100 km/h (62 mph). The tracks will be entirely grade-separated and have a generous loading gauge of 3,660 mm width and 7,100 mm maximum height allowing for double-stacked shipping containers to be transported on flatcars. This allows for single trains to have a 400+-container capacity. The corridor will reduce the travel time for containers from 50 h, by the existing freight train, to 17 h while significantly increasing the transport capacity on the route as well as decreasing transport costs. The DMIC megaproject also incorporates 9 Mega Industrial zones of about 200-250 sq. km, 3 ports, 6 airports and a 4000 MW power plant. India is rapidly outpacing China in both demographic and economic growth. The 21st century won't be the Chinese century. It will be the Indian century.

A Swiss Federal train costs only US$20 million each, the same amount that the Zimbabwean dictator blows on one trip abroad. Sixty of these trains cost just US$1.2 billion, or US$20 million each, the same amount that Mnangagwa looted in just thirty days through his Command Agriculture criminal cartel. The US$15 billion looted at Chiadzwa would have bought 750 trains like this one. The money stolen from gold smuggling every single month by ZANUPF elites would buy sixty trains like this every year. The US$100 million stolen from NSSA under Prisca Mupfumira would have bought five trains like this. In other words, Zimbabwe has the money, but it is being looted by Mnangagwa and his criminal cartels, as proven by successive Auditor-General reports. A brand new modern double-decker train like the one shown below costs US$20 million. Let that sink in. Zimbabwe has the money and resources to do this, but ZANUPF only thinks of looting public funds and hiring incompetent friends! We do not hate our country, we love it dearly, and that is why we speak out. What we hate are the crooks looting public funds that could have bought these trains, crooks led by Emmerson Mnangagwa and his useless ministers who are both corrupt and clueless! I just learned you can take a train from Detroit to San Francisco-and it's only 61 hours. 😂 Apparently I've been using trains wrong my whole life. I thought they were just for blocking crossings while I sat there counting boxcars. Turns out, you can actually get on one and go clear across the country. That's not a trip-that's a commitment. By Nebraska, you're on a first-name basis with the conductor and questioning your snack choices. By the time you hit San Francisco, you're not even excited about the view-you're just proud you didn't get unloaded with the freight.

There are plenty of videos available where muslims can be seen singing and dancing on trains which go to Ajmer. But, Arfa won't tell you that. The video she has posted is of Hindu Kanwariyas in a train. You can clearly see that only Hindu Kanwariyas are there in the coach, no one else. Muslims offering Namaz in a train becomes a problem when people of other religion are also travelling and muslims block the passage as if they own the train. Arfa's whole journalism career is based on convincing muslims that they are under threat from Hindus and Hindus in India are doing some sort of atrocities on muslims.

And now I’m here on a Metropolitan Line tube train to London. I tell you what; Amersham was absolutely lovely. The old bit. I had a few pints in the Saracens Head and the landlord kindly ordered me a cab here to the station. You don’t get that sort of service in most of London. But also, it’s the human interaction. In the middle of London, you order an Uber, or walk outside and hail a cab. There’s no speaking to anyone involved. Anyway, in this video I take you on a walk the whole length of the tube train and I think I counted three people. Also, we discover that tube trains are really, really long. I should have been sponsored for this walk.

One coach has already been constructed, which is a car body that is ready at our factory in Latur for demonstration. Now the ramp-up of production is going to start by the end of this year. But the overall coaches, the total volume is 1920 cars which we need to design, deliver and manufacture to the customer. So, in total, 1920 coaches are 120 trains of 16 cars each. Three depots have been given to us. One is in Jodhpur, which is in quite an advanced stage. Another in Bijwasan, which is near Delhi. And the third one is in southern part of India, which is in Thanisandra. So those three depots are being allocated to us to maintain these trains. So the route obviously is going to be decided by Indian Railways...We are committed to maintaining these trains for the next 35 years..."
