iOS 26.4 is officially a disaster... 💀 I’ve had my iPhone 17 Pro Max in a bootloop all night until the battery completely died. Even after a full discharge, a hard reset did absolutely nothing. I found an old screen recording from my iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 17 Decided to compare the animations to my iPhone 17 with iOS 27, and I have so many thoughts 😭 Overall, iOS 17 is INFINITELY smoother than iOS 27, purely due to its animation speed. Opening and closing apps is slow and elegant, accompanied by a beautiful wallpaper zoom. 27 is rough, fast, and lacks fluidity. For some reason, they got rid of the wallpaper zoom when opening/closing apps, making everything feel flat. All of that is paired with the atrocious performance of the iOS screen recorder that started with iOS 18 and still hasn’t been fixed. Notice how there are zero jitters on iOS 17, but both jitters and artifact on 27. This is not a hate post. I just wanted to share my thoughts. And no, this isn’t the problem of a “beta”. Stable iOS 26 has the exact same issues. Thanks 💔

Washed the iPhone 17 Pro Max USB-C port with fresh water to flush out salt residue. Hopefully this fixes the minor charging disconnect issue. I had submerged the iPhone 17 Pro Max in seawater to capture aquatic life and later forced Emergency Override for charging after it kept showing a warning even after 30 hours. After that, PD charging stopped working, while MagSafe and USB-C power bank charging worked fine. After 2–3 days, PD charging started working again, but it still disconnects occasionally and needs to be reinserted. Let’s see if flushing out the salt residue fixes it.

Another option is to enable Apple’s built-in security feature that erases the iPhone after 10 consecutive incorrect passcode attempts. So apparently Apple has begun production of a variable aperture camera for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This would let the lens physically change its aperture depending on lighting, opening up in low light and narrowing in bright scenes. The result should be better exposure control and more natural depth of field. Korean publication ETNews reports that Sunny Optical has already started producing the tiny actuators responsible for this movement with full camera module assembly expected to kick off in early summer.
