🚨 Over 250 Amhara civilians massacred at Gind Ansa St. Michael Monastery as ENDF, Oromia Region Gada Commando, Jaal Mose-led OLA and Qeerroo forces carry out killings across Gida Ayana More than 250 Amhara civilians who had sought refuge at Gind Ansa St. Michael Monastery in Mender 3, Gida Ayana Woreda, East Wollega Zone, Oromia Region, were massacred amid an ongoing wave of attacks against Amhara communities in the area. Priests, monks, elderly people, mothers, pregnant women and children were among those killed. The monastery massacre forms part of a wider wave of violence affecting Andode Dicho Kebele, Shashober, Fendika, Anger Gutin, Mender 3, Mender 4 and Mender 22 since August 18, 2026. Sources on the ground and survivor accounts identify Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) soldiers, Oromia Region Gada Commando forces, the Abiy regime-backed Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) led by Jaal Mose, and armed Qeerroo (Oromo youth) groups among the forces involved in the violence. Videos emerging from the affected area reportedly show Jaal Mose-led OLA fighters operating alongside Gada Commando forces during a raid on an Ethiopian Orthodox church. Some of the most severe violence occurred at Debre Anbessa Gind Ansa St. Michael, where large numbers of civilians had taken refuge after fleeing attacks on surrounding communities. ENDF soldiers and Gada Commando forces surrounded the monastery compound and opened fire on civilians attempting to escape, using Bren machine guns, sniper rifles and Kalashnikov rifles. Armed Qeerroo (Oromo youth) members operating under the cover of the security forces entered the monastery compound and attacked civilians with bladed weapons. Among those killed were pregnant women and infants as young as two months old. Additional killings occurred throughout Mender 3, where more than 52 civilians were reported killed in areas affected by the violence. A separate massacre occurred in Mender 22, several kilometers from Mender 3, where more than 44 Amhara civilians were killed. Among the victims were 85-year-old Aba Ayele Arega, a respected community elder known for mediating disputes and consoling grieving families, and his wife, Emahoy Eskedar Gelaw. New mothers and infants were also among those killed. Some victims in Mender 22 were killed with sickles and machetes. In particularly disturbing cases, the weapons used in the killings were found still lodged in victims’ bodies when their remains were recovered for burial. The continuing presence of ENDF soldiers and other armed forces has prevented residents from safely recovering and burying many of those killed. Bodies remain scattered throughout affected areas, with some reportedly being consumed by vultures and wild animals and others swept away by floodwaters. The final death toll could rise further. Several civilians attempting to flee Mender 3 and Mender 22 were shot by ENDF soldiers and escaped while bleeding, leaving their whereabouts and condition unknown. Across Andode Dicho, Shashober, Fendika, Anger Gutin, Mender 3, Mender 4 and Mender 22, the attacks have caused extensive civilian casualties, mass displacement and widespread destruction. Entire communities have been devastated, while homes and civilian property have been destroyed and livestock looted and taken away. Thousands of residents have fled their communities amid continuing insecurity and fear of further attacks, leaving surviving residents unable to safely retrieve victims, bury the dead or return to their homes.

🚨 Amhara, Tigrayan and Gumuz civilians massacred in Waja, Fendika and Lemi as Gada Commando, Jaal Mose-led OLA and Qeerroo forces expand attacks in East Wollega of Oromia Region A large-scale massacre of Amhara, Tigrayan and Gumuz civilians has taken place in Waja, Fendika and Lemi in East Wollega Zone, Oromia Region, amid continuing attacks involving Oromia Region Gada Commando forces, the Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 regime-backed Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) led by Jaal Mose, and armed Qeerroo (Oromo youth). In Lemi, Gada Commando forces that burned Lemi Teklehaimanot Church last week have occupied Lemi Abo Church and are using the church compound as a military base. Forces positioned at the church have been firing indiscriminately toward civilian-populated areas, further endangering residents and forcing families to flee. Amhara and Gumuz communities in the area attempted to defend themselves against the attacks but were ultimately overpowered by Oromia Region security forces backed by Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) units. Survives from the affected areas have said armed Qeerroo (Oromo youth), recruited from areas under Shimelis Abdisa control, have been following behind Gada Commando forces as they move through affected communities, setting fire to homes and properties belonging to Amhara, Tigrayan and Gumuz civilians. The latest violence in Waja, Fendika and Lemi comes amid an expanding wave of killings, displacement, destruction of civilian property and attacks on Ethiopian Orthodox churches across parts of East Wollega Zone.

The attacks are being carried out by Oromia Special Forces, Oromia Geda Qerro Special Forces, Repi OLA, and Gachena Sirna militias. Hundreds of homes belonging to more than 670 Amhara civilians have been burned down in Indododicho and Hashober towns alone. Alongside the widespread destruction, Amhara civilians are being massacred in gruesome acts of violence. In one particularly horrific incident in Indododicho Kebele, an Amhara mother and her four children were hacked to death with machetes. Residents told Ethio Focus News that prior to the attack, Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) withdrew from Angerguten and handed over security control to Oromia regional forces. Before leaving, ENDF reportedly instructed residents to flee the area with their children and belongings. This sequence of events strongly suggests that the destruction of these Amhara-inhabited towns was sanctioned by top federal and Oromia Region officials. When Oromia regional forces launched their attack on December 20, Amhara residents initially managed to defend themselves, inflicting heavy losses and temporarily pushing the attackers out of the towns. However, ENDF later returned with mechanized units and Zu-23 anti-aircraft weapons and launched an assault on Amhara defenders. This intervention enabled Oromia regional forces to re-enter the towns, resume the massacre of Amhara civilians, and continue the systematic destruction of homes. Amhara residents who appealed to ENDF for protection as their homes were being burned were reportedly told that stopping the attacks was “beyond ENDF’s control.” The destruction of Indododicho and Hashober Kebeles has now entered its fifth consecutive day. In Ali Kebele, more than 216 Amhara children, mothers, and elders have been abducted by Oromia regional forces. An additional 150 people have reportedly been abducted in Indododicho Kebele. Their whereabouts remain unknown. Residents from Ali, Hashober, and Indododicho Kebeles who fled into nearby areas report that two children are missing and are feared to have been killed by wild animals. The remaining displaced residents have been hiding in the jungle for five days without access to food or water. The Amhara population is urgently calling on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene, protect civilians, and assist those stranded and at risk.

🚨Breaking : Door to door massacre of Amhara civilians in Awra Godana town of Amhara region by Oromia Special Forces: Context: Awra Godana, is located in Amhara region close to the borders of Oromia and Afar, a few kilometers from the Ethio-Djibouti railway. The Oromia government has been trying to annex this strategically located town into Oromia. Last year they sent their special forces to attack the town disguised as militia, even killing a dozen federal police. They got routed by the local Amhara militia, losing at least 26 of their fighters. The incident even got international media attention. The Oromia government claimed Fano invaded Oromia, they even had the CGTN Africa reporter Girum Chala, who has business links to Oromia PP, report on Desolate that it was Amharas who invaded Oromia. It’s important to know that the Oromia Special Forces were never disband in April, only the Amhara Special Forces. What happened yesterday and today: Since ENDF is losing ground in most parts of Amhara, the Oromia government wants to annex this town to take over the Ethio-Djibouti route. There was no Fano presence in the town so ENDF encircled the town yesterday to prevent the locals from getting any Fano reinforcements. This was followed by an attack on the town by Oromia Special Forces (OSF), the locals were able to defend themselves with high casualties for OSF. Amhara Civilians strong enough to run fled the town. Today the Oromia government sent more OSF reinforcements backed by ENDF artillery support. The locals fought until they ran out of Ammo. Fano couldn’t make it to the town due to ENDFs blockade. This is when Oromia Special Forces started going door to door and killing any Amhara civilians they could find. They brought Oromo youth from the neighboring Oromia region towns to loot as many properties as possible. The looting and killing is still going on. I have transcribed and translated a brief interview journalists Mesay Mekonnen and Dereje did with survivors: Journalist: The town of Awra Godana, in Minjar Wereda of Amhara region is under the full invasion and occupation of the Oromia Special Forces (OSF), there is door to door killing and looting. The residents of the town are fleeing for their lives. Those who couldn’t flee are in dire situations. Witness: Houses are burning, people have fled the town. The town is fully controlled by Oromia Special forces. What’s shocking is the level of looting, people (from the bordering Oromia towns) are looting everything, the Oromia Special forces are loading trucks full of peoples properties, every house has been looted by OSF. And ENDF is behind them overseeing it, the forest is full of people (Oromos from Kireyu) running with looted properties. We have several pictures and videos of these incidents, I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. They’re destroying the entire town. Residents of Awra Godana, those who can have all fled to the forests. The town is being completely destroyed. Journalist: It’s being reported that the ones killing people door to door are Oromo Special Forces. Witness: There’s a lot of them (OSF), they control most of the higher positions. They’ve taken over the entire city, there’s still people looting right now. The entire forest is full of people (Oromos from neighboring region) running away with looted properties. Even the OSF loading peoples belongings with trucks and taking them to Oromia. We think they’ve incited Oromos from neighboring towns to come loot because they’re everywhere. I’ve never seen this type of cruelty in my life, we are devastated. #AmharaGenocide #WarOnAmhara #Ethiopia Al Jazeera English BBC News (World) Reuters UN Human Rights Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) - ኢሰመኮ Human Rights Watch Amnesty International

Visual evidence of the aftermath of the ethnic cleansing of Amharas and looting of their properties by Oromia Special Forces in Awura Godana, Amhara region. You can hear the OSF recording the video telling the Oromos from neighboring towns who’ve looted properties to leave before ENDF gets there. They’ve already replaced the welcome sign and annexed it into Oromia. According to the Ethiopian government, all regional forces had been “disband” last April but as you can clearly see from the video and picture, Oromia Special Forces are still intact and the only regional force that was disband was the Amhara. This biased action by the Federal government was the last straw for Amharas. #AmharaGenocide #WarOnAmhara #Ethiopia

Our people in Dharraa, North Shewa, are enduring relentless attacks—both from the air by the genocidal Abiy regime and on the ground by forces originating from the Amhara region. As a result of these assaults, countless residents have been forcibly displaced from Dharraa district and Marabite town, driven into the wilderness with no shelter or support, left to fend for themselves in dire conditions. Whether these ground offensives are being carried out by Abiy’s forces masquerading as Amhara militias to instigate horizontal conflict or by forces officially affiliated with the armed group in the Amhara region is still under investigation. We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring that those responsible for these heinous actions are held accountable for their crimes. #Oromia #Ethiopia

🚨 Amhara survivors in East Wollega plead for rescue as villages are burned and civilians continue to be massacred by Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 regime forces An Amhara survivor of the ongoing massacres in Gida Ayana Woreda, East Wollega Zone, Oromia Region, has issued a desperate plea for rescue after widespread killings, the destruction of villages, and the displacement of thousands of civilians. Amhara civilians in Gida Ayana have been facing coordinated attacks involving the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF), Oromia Region Gada Commando, regional riot-control forces, Gachana Sirna, Repelola, militia forces, and armed Qeerroo (Oromo youth) groups for over two weeks. ENDF units have been providing heavy-weapons cover and transported armed groups between affected communities using military Ural vehicles during the operations. "We are in Wollega, we are Amhara. No one is coming to save us," the survivor says, explaining that his community has lost everything after their homes were burned and their belongings destroyed. "We have no homes, no property, nothing left." "We are being slaughtered, we are being massacred," the survivor says, describing the scale of the violence inflicted on Amhara civilians. The survivor also says ENDF artillery attacks continue despite the devastation already inflicted on the community. Referring to remarks by Oromia Region President Shimelis Abdisa, he says, "He says they are eliminating extremists. He is not eliminating extremists, he is eliminating the people." Concluding his appeal, the survivor says his community is exhausted and pleads for a safe way out if they can no longer remain in their homes: "We are tired. We are exhausted. Take us out of this place. If you don't want us here, then give us a safe path to leave. Leave us alone."

⚡️At least 19 Amhara civilians killed and over 560 homes burned by Oromia Special Forces (OSF) amid escalating state violence in Gida-Ayana Woreda (📍East Wollega Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia). 🔴 Since December 23rd, joint regime forces have carried out large-scale military operations across multiple kebeles in Gida-Ayana Woreda, particularly targeting areas predominantly inhabited by ethnic Amharas. Fighting intensified following the deployment of OSF commando units to Andode-Dicho Kebele, where regime forces reportedly suffered significant casualties and material losses during clashes. 🔴 In retaliation, regime forces engaged in widespread human-rights violations between December 23rd and 27th, killing at least 19 civilians and injuring several others. Civilians were reportedly burned alive inside their homes and attacked with firearms and bladed weapons. The violence was accompanied by extensive destruction of property, including the burning of at least 562 residential homes, grain warehouses, and small businesses, as well as the destruction of 29 motorcycles, three bajaj vehicles, and a maize-shelling combiner. 🔴 The sustained attacks have triggered mass displacement, with the majority of residents fleeing the affected kebeles. Sources report that killings and abductions continue against civilians who remained behind, deepening fears of ongoing ethnic-targeted violence and the absence of civilian protection. #Amhara_War_Updates

🚨 Breaking: Reports show the Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 regime has begun supplying mechanized weapons to Oromia Special Forces as ENDF withdraws from Oromia and redeploys north. This move contravenes the Ethiopian Constitution, which stipulates that only the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) may be equipped with mechanized weaponry. Ethio Focus News previously reported that the Oromia Region has been purchasing weapons on the global market after receiving authorization from the federal government, another constitutional violation, as procurement authority is granted exclusively to the ENDF. According to sources cited by Ethio Focus News, weapons purchased by the Oromia Region were transported from Djibouti to Oromia on December 21, 2025. The Oromia Special Forces would become the only regional force granted such privileges. This development comes three years after the Abiy regime announced the disbandment of all regional special forces, a process that only targeted the Amhara Regional Forces and triggered the war in Amhara that has continued for the past three years. Notably, two days ago, the Oromia Police Commission called on former members, including regular officers, special forces personnel, and VIP protection units, who had left the service due to discharge or other reasons to rejoin within one week. Sources indicate the objective is to rapidly train and arm up to one million militias in Oromia in preparation for a broader conflict. Sources further confirm that Oromia forces are currently deployed in multiple regions and federal cities across the country, including Addis Ababa, Harar, Dire Dawa, Gambella, Asosa (Benishangul-Gumuz Region), and the Amhara Region. Note: Attached Video is from Oromia Special Forces graduation ceremony in 2019
