Our model shows a brief opportunity for some snowfall Saturday afternoon into evening. Then the sleet moves in (pink) through Sunday morning. The biggest question is when do we switch to freezing rain and how much of that falls. Notice how COLD the air is.

For the sleet/freezing rain question, is it better for our temps to stay that cold? Will that help us stay sleet (allowing the precipitation a better chance to refreeze) and put off the transition to freezing rain?

Tim, do you think the northwestern Piedmont Triad is likely to get a snow/sleet mix more than anything else? My experience with ice storms here in northern Forsyth County is that freezing rain is typically minimal, with areas south of us getting the brunt of it.

I've seen the potential for a turn over to rain at the end of the event. Will the temps be high enough where the rain melts away some of the ice/sleet we may get? If so I imagine it would just refreeze anyway over night.
