WHAT?!? 🤯 I asked Claude to build me an all in one AI Operating System for working with Claude Code. An hour later here we are... → Full ability to chat with Claude Code → Markdown file browser/editor built right in I've been using VS Code but there is a lot that I just don't need. I'm a knowledge worker, not a developer. So I guess I just built an IDE for knowledge workers? Now we're building: → Voice Mode (ability to switch to voice conversations) → Cron Job Management - so I can manage all the automated processes we have running → Ability to switch to different agents (currently I just have one... my AI Cos, Chad)

This is why I never go camping alone in some creepy and reportedly haunted woods. In a place where locals go to perform their own rituals and believe they are something they aren’t is not a place to go camping under the stars and roast marshmallows around a fire. I would save that for another time. For my take on this I wouldn’t even know where to start. I couldn’t imagine going campaigning with friends only for a woman who thinks she’s a witch to start running around the car and onto the car trying to scare me away because to her this is some sacred place. When we were kids we always went to a place called the Yogi Bear campground. It was more of a resort, it was named after a famous cartoon character. My family went and allowed us to each bring a friend. In the days we would explore the woods and go swimming at the pool, hit up the concessions. But at night while everyone slept, we were young and dumb. A friend had brought an ouija board and we were trying to open portals and contact spirits. One night in the tent when we did that, it was around 4am, we heard someone walking around the tent while we were using the board. We were all around 11-12 years old, we were terrified. I remember my friend telling me to open the tent and see what’s there but I didn’t. I just sat there and we waited it out. Looking back at this moment, and I use this moment in my own mind not to ever get an ouija board. I think it could have just been other campers who were walking by and it just happened around the same time. But I will never forget that day for obvious reasons.

Sergey Brin on AI and Jeff Dean back in December when Gemini peaked: “I would say in some ways we for sure messed up in that we underinvested and sort of didn't take it as seriously as we should have, say, eight years ago when we published the Transformer paper. We actually didn't take it all that seriously and didn't necessarily invest in scaling the compute. And also we were too scared to bring it to people because chatbots say dumb things. And, you know, OpenAI ran with it, which is good for them. It was a super smart insight, and it was also our people like Ilya who went there to do that. But I do think we still have benefited from that long history. So we had a lot of the research and development of neural networks kind of going back to Google Brain. That was also kind of lucky. It wasn't luck that we hired Jeff Dean. I mean, we were lucky to get him. But we were in this sort of mindset that deep technical things matter. And so we hired him. We hired a lot of people from DEC, honestly, because they had the top research labs at the time. But he [Jeff Dean] was passionate about neural networks. And it stemmed, I think, from actually his college experiment. I don't know. He was like, whatever, curing third world disease and figuring out neural networks when he was like 16. He's done crazy things. But he was passionate about it. He built up a whole effort. And actually in my division at the time in Google X. We had him but I didn't I was like okay Jeff you do whatever you want. He's like oh we can tell cats from dogs. I'm like oh okay cool. But you know, you also trust your technical people and soon enough they were developing all these algorithms these neural nets that were doing some of our search. And then, you know, Noam came up with a transformer and we were able to do more and more. But yeah, I mean, so we had the underpinnings, we had the R&D. Bash is all you need! Which is why I'm introducing my holiday project: just-bash just-bash is a pretty complete implementation of bash in TypeScript designed to be used as a bash tool by AI agents. Coding agents love bash and they are good at reproducing it. They are also great at text-book recursive descent parsers and AST tweet-walk interpreters. That said, it is, like, a lot of code and I didn't read it all 😅. This is very much a hack, but it also seems to be _really_ useful. I haven't really found anything agents want to use that it doesn't support and it's fast and secure (caveats apply). It doesn't have write access to your computer and the filesystem is given a root that the agent cannot escape from. Bash is all you need! Which is why I'm introducing my holiday project: just-bash just-bash is a pretty complete implementation of bash in TypeScript designed to be used as a bash tool by AI agents. Because it turns out agents love exploring data via shell scripts, even beyond coding. It comes with grep, sed, awk and the 99th percentile features that an agent like Claude Code or Cursor would use. In fact, Claude Code can use it for secure bash execution. Finally, after all these years, GTA San Andreas VR has arrived on Quest 3 standalone 🤯 But not officially and not thanks to Meta or Rockstar, but thanks to a modder GeT_RiCh (creator of the VR mod for GTA Vice City on PCVR and Quest) who in a few weeks did something that large corporations had not been able to do before - he created a mod that added a VR mode to the game and ported it to Quest 3 standalone 🤩 Modders once again show that nothing is impossible for them 😃
