Residents of Tshwane, our focus for development isn’t only for the urban parts of Tshwane but also include our rural communities. We have several pockets of rural areas in this City: Rooiwal, Winterveldt, Sokhulumi and Bronkhorstspruit. 60 years ago today, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was established to serve our most vulnerable and bring revitalization to communities across our country. The distribution of 400 trucks of fertilizer free of charge to 100,000 smallholder farmers further demonstrates our firm commitment to strengthening food security and empowering the backbone of our economy which is agriculture. In less than two years, we have distributed a total of 900 trucks of fertilizers to 220,000 smallholder farmers—making Kaduna State the only state in Nigeria that has consistently provided such large-scale support while delivering other critical farming inputs at no cost.

The development of the Anbesa Garage - Jukrose - Goro Square corridor has brought transformative changes to a once congested area. The addition of walkways, parking facilities, children’s playgrounds, shops, public plazas, public toilets, and designated taxi and bus bays has revitalized the neighborhood, making it more accessible, inclusive, and livable for all. Corridor development projects across both urban and rural settings continue to introduce dignified, equitable public spaces that uplift communities. In particular, our recent rural corridor initiatives aim to rejuvenate rural areas and improve the quality of life for their residents. I extend my sincere appreciation to the Addis Ababa City Administration and the subcities that have mobilized resources to expand the corridor initiative into the city’s peripheral areas. I encourage other subcities and cities across the country to keep prioritizing citizen-centered approaches as we reimagine and reconfigure urban life for the better.

As a result of our lawsuit and our continued pressure on and engagement with the Trump Administration, every dollar that we identified at the filing of our lawsuit is currently unfrozen and once again accessible to all Pennsylvania state agencies.
