Overcharging inside Indian Railways trains has become a routine scam, not an exception. This video from Guwahati–SMVS (12510) shows a vendor openly charging ₹50 for a ₹40 cake. No bill, no accountability just exploiting passengers who have no alternative mid-journey. This isn’t about ₹10. This is about: > Zero...

Public Health Issue Alert 🚨 Travelling on Vande Bharat today (Allahabad → Delhi) and yesterday was travelling on Rajdhani (Delhi → Allahabad), I was served rotis/kachoris heated directly inside sealed plastic packaging. While at Rajdhani, I was hungry and so ate the hot Kachori almost instantly and then realised - wait, how can it be hot? Wasn’t it in a sealed packet? How could they heat the packet directly? Then this repeated today and I couldn’t stop myself from inquiring - The “Halka Phulka” roti packet clearly states: • “Store in a cool & dry place” • No mention of microwave/heating in-pack • No “microwave safe” indication Yet the packets are handed over visibly hot. Lakhs of passengers can verify this - the rotis are served warm with the plastic pack heated. The person in the train confirmed that rotis were being heated directly in the packet. Food-grade plastic is not automatically heat-safe unless certified for microwave/steam use. Heating multilayer packaging without clear instructions can potentially increase chemical migration into food - especially when done repeatedly at scale. This may be operational convenience. But food safety should never rely on shortcuts. Requesting IRCTC Ministry of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw to clarify: - Are these institutional packs certified for in-pack heating? - If so, can that certification be publicly shared? - Is this happening on all trains? 🚆 - Who has authorised this? Passenger safety deserves application of mind - not just efficiency. Just to make the passengers that IRCTC is serving hot food, how can such a careless thing be done - playing with the health of lakhs of people who are eating this food? The last thing we want is blame game buck to be passed between IRCTC FSSAI - Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution will say that it is Railways’ mistake. Railway minister will say it is the third party vendor who has been given the tender - it’s their mistake. Third party vendor will find someone at the lowest in the ladder like the gentleman in this video who admitted that they were heated in microwave, to fix the blame on - while fixing NO Accountability of the damage already done and NO Responsibility for what’s to come. Action / Clarification on this ought to be issued from the Railway Ministry. Corrective Measures need to be announced immediately. #railways #VandeBharat #HotFoodScam

Has anyone noticed how difficult it has become to book tatkal tickets these days? There is an active TQ Ticket agent mafia that is controlling the sales using automated software. For the past 3 days, I've been trying to book TQ tickets for Hyderabad but failing every time. Then I contacted an agent, and he assured me of a 99% probability of getting a confirmed ticket. He asked for ₹500 extra on top of the final ticket price, but when everything is the same for both, how is he so sure about getting a confirmed ticket? I further investigated and got to know about automated software that these agents are using to book TQ tickets. I even came across multiple YouTube/WhatsApp/Telegram channels that are openly selling this software. As a normal human, one can't compete with fully automated software that books a confirmed TQ ticket in just 30 seconds, even for the busiest routes at the busiest times, like Diwali (proofs attached). Firstly, passengers are paying TQ charges on top of ticket costs, and then they are paying an additional amount to these agents to get a TQ ticket, and IRCTC Ministry of Railways are doing nothing about it. Babus don't care as they are getting confirmed tickets in the HO quota, and these problems don't exist for them. Dear Ashwini Vaishnaw As both I&B and Rail Minister, I'm sure that you or your team must be aware of it. Why is no action initiated against such malpractice? Why are such agents not put behind bars yet, or shall we assume that even people inside the organisation are involved in all this? Attaching proofs of how such software works #IndianRailways

“I’m a Railway Employee Do Whatever You Want!”: Arrogant Smoker Flouts Train Rules, Endangers Passengers A man was seen smoking a cigarette inside a train, which is clearly a violation of railway rules and basic public safety. When a co-passenger politely questioned him and asked him not to smoke, the man responded in an arrogant and threatening manner, saying, “I am a railway employee do whatever you want.”This kind of attitude is deeply disturbing. Just because someone claims to be a railway employee does not give them the right to break the law or endanger the health and safety of other passengers. Smoking inside a train is not only illegal but also harmful, especially to children, elderly passengers, and those with respiratory problems who are forced to inhale the smoke. If anything, a railway employee should be an example of discipline and responsibility, not someone who misuses their position to intimidate others. Such behaviour reflects a complete lack of civic sense and respect for fellow passengers. Public transport belongs to everyone, and no individual employee or not is above the rules.Authorities must take strict action against such misconduct and send a clear message that arrogance and abuse of power will not be tolerated. Rules exist for a reason, and respecting them is the minimum expected from anyone travelling on public transport. #bangalore #bengaluru #railway #IndianRailways #smoking Ministry of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw South Western Railway Karnataka State Police S. I rise to support the Private Member’s Bill introduced by MP Shafi Parambil ji. This Bill seeks to strengthen passengers’ rights, guarantee fair competition, and the overall aviation regulatory framework. The urgency of this Bill has been underscored by the severe civil aviation crisis India has witnessed over the last fortnight. This is one of the most serious operational breakdowns in Indian aviation history— not a minor scheduling glitch, but a crisis that stranded travellers in terminals, disrupted businesses, and forced families to cancel long-planned holiday journeys. This is not just an internal airline failure. This is a crisis. And this crisis exposes deeper structural problems. ❓Why has the government allowed such concentrated market domination? ❓Why is there no healthy competition to absorb such shocks? ❓What role did the regulator’s preparedness play in this crisis? ❓Why are passengers left to bear the consequences of the systemic failures of this government? ❓Why has the government been so slow to enforce real accountability? ❓When will we adopt policies that prevent monopolistic control and ensure robust competition? This Bill calls for real structural reform—greater competition, and more robust entry and survival conditions for new and smaller operators. Let this House unite to ensure that India’s passengers are protected, that India’s skies are reliable, and that no single operational or regulatory failure can cripple our nation’s connectivity. I urge the Members to support this Bill—not just in spirit, but in action. : Manickam Tagore .B🇮🇳மாணிக்கம் தாகூர்.ப ji in Lok Sabha
