There was not even enough space to walk to the washroom. People were sleeping on the floor, near the doors, and everywhere possible. The TC came and saw everything, but did not say a single word. It looks like this has become normal for Indian Railways. I have sympathy for these passengers, but if Railways already know that general coach passengers are more, then why not add more general coaches? Why are sleeper coaches being turned into general coaches every day? For years, passengers have been raising the same issue, posting photos and videos, tagging officials, and still nothing changes. Indian Railways talks about modernization and new trains, but what about basic crowd management and passenger safety in normal trains? And please, do not ask me for the PNR. Asking for the PNR will not solve this issue. This is not one passenger’s problem. This is the daily reality of thousands of people.

Have you noticed this trend: In the past few years, most new trains introduced by Indian Railways have been either Vande Bharat (premium, short-distance) or Amrit Bharat (non-AC, long-distance for lower fares). But where are the regular long-distance trains? Since COVID, very few new long-distance services have been introduced, and the impact is clearly visible. Getting a confirmed ticket on busy routes has become a nightmare. Instead, we see: • “Special” trains that aren't punctual • Additional halts slowing down existing services • Extensions of current trains instead of introducing new ones This isn’t about opposing Vande Bharat or Amrit Bharat, they serve their purpose well. But what about the millions of long-distance passengers? Most long-distance trains today are running over capacity, yet there’s little focus on expanding services, as a rail enthusiast, it’s hard to even recall a significant number of new long-distance trains added in recent years. Every school will state it clearly on its notice board, on its website, and at any store it operates that parents are free to buy uniforms, books and stationery from anywhere. Air India, this is unacceptable and shameful. Passengers were kept on board for over two hours, then offloaded due to a so called technical issue. After that, the gate was changed more than three times, with zero clarity and zero accountability. There was absolutely no concern for passengers with connecting flights. No food. No lounge access. No hotel. No communication.What finally pushed this from incompetence to disgrace was watching an elderly passenger being treated poorly and dismissed when he clearly needed assistance. That silence and lack of empathy says everything about your operations. This is not just poor service, it is systemic failure. Either fix your processes and train your staff to treat passengers like human beings, or stop operating altogether. This is the standard and reputation you are setting for your country. Absolutely fed up. This is Prabhadevi Railway Station — a key hub in Mumbai, surrounded by offices, used by thousands daily. Yet, every monsoon, we’re welcomed by knee-deep water, choked drains, and the stench of neglect. Years of complaints. Zero action. The waterlogging right outside the station remains unresolved — a recurring nightmare. Ministry of Railways blames माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC, BMC blames Railways, and both shrug off responsibility like it’s someone else’s mess. Meanwhile, citizens wade through filth, risk infections, miss work, and suffer in silence. Is this the state of a “financial capital”? Where are the funds, the engineers, the planning? Public Health Issue Alert 🚨 Travelling on Vande Bharat today (Allahabad → Delhi) and yesterday was travelling on Rajdhani (Delhi → Allahabad), I was served rotis/kachoris heated directly inside sealed plastic packaging. While at Rajdhani, I was hungry and so ate the hot Kachori almost instantly and then realised - wait, how can it be hot? Wasn’t it in a sealed packet? How could they heat the packet directly? Then this repeated today and I couldn’t stop myself from inquiring - The “Halka Phulka” roti packet clearly states: • “Store in a cool & dry place” • No mention of microwave/heating in-pack • No “microwave safe” indication Yet the packets are handed over visibly hot. Lakhs of passengers can verify this - the rotis are served warm with the plastic pack heated. The person in the train confirmed that rotis were being heated directly in the packet. Food-grade plastic is not automatically heat-safe unless certified for microwave/steam use. Heating multilayer packaging without clear instructions can potentially increase chemical migration into food - especially when done repeatedly at scale. This may be operational convenience. But food safety should never rely on shortcuts. Requesting IRCTC Ministry of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw to clarify: - Are these institutional packs certified for in-pack heating? - If so, can that certification be publicly shared? - Is this happening on all trains? 🚆 - Who has authorised this? Passenger safety deserves application of mind - not just efficiency. Just to make the passengers that IRCTC is serving hot food, how can such a careless thing be done - playing with the health of lakhs of people who are eating this food? Has anyone noticed how difficult it has become to book tatkal tickets these days? There is an active TQ Ticket agent mafia that is controlling the sales using automated software. For the past 3 days, I've been trying to book TQ tickets for Hyderabad but failing every time. Then I contacted an agent, and he assured me of a 99% probability of getting a confirmed ticket. He asked for ₹500 extra on top of the final ticket price, but when everything is the same for both, how is he so sure about getting a confirmed ticket? I further investigated and got to know about automated software that these agents are using to book TQ tickets. I even came across multiple YouTube/WhatsApp/Telegram channels that are openly selling this software. As a normal human, one can't compete with fully automated software that books a confirmed TQ ticket in just 30 seconds, even for the busiest routes at the busiest times, like Diwali (proofs attached). Firstly, passengers are paying TQ charges on top of ticket costs, and then they are paying an additional amount to these agents to get a TQ ticket, and IRCTC Ministry of Railways are doing nothing about it. Babus don't care as they are getting confirmed tickets in the HO quota, and these problems don't exist for them. Yesterday, on May 30, 2025, Kolkata Police unlawfully entered Sealdah Railway Station, harassed innocent passengers, forcibly checked identities in order to identify sacked Teachers, beat up commuters indiscriminately and forcibly detained Teachers who were simply commuting, not protesting or agitating within the Sealdah Station premises. These teachers, victims of the 2016 SSC Recruitment Scam, planned a peaceful march to Nabanna but were met with excessive force, including manhandling and dragging into prison vans like hardened criminals. This is a blatant violation of Railway Jurisdiction under the Union Ministry of Railways and an attack on democratic rights. This isn’t the first time, similar overreaches occurred in 2022 (BJP’s Nabanna Abhijan) at several Railway Stations across West Bengal and at Metro Stations in 2023-24 to suppress protests of TET Candidates and other deprived eligible WB Govt Job Seekers. Despite raising this with the Sealdah DRM, no action has yet been taken. So, I’ve urged Hon’ble Railway Minister; Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji to intervene and ensure such violations by Kolkata Police & West Bengal Police stop immediately. The rights of passengers and the sanctity of Railway premises must be protected, it can't be a allowed to be turned into a platform where Kolkata Police & West Bengal Police trample upon democratic freedom at will.
