Former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis says that the conflict in Gaza is being utilised as a laboratory for technology firms, such as Palantir, to train AI and data-gathering products. Beyond the political failure of the “pseudo-ceasefire”, Varoufakis says that global tech giants are exploiting the mass displacement and movement of Palestinians to refine their algorithms. He detailed a conversation with a tech insider, formerly of Palantir, who reportedly described the “Gaza event” as “exciting” for the industry and how high-volume data generated by the bombing of densely populated areas is being harvested to develop AI products. These algorithms are then rebranded as civilian tools for managing emergency logistics and hospital systems in the West.

This awareness separates the wheat from the chaff. Watch who gets defensive, who makes it about ‘her tone’ and who completely misses the point because they’re too busy protecting their ego to hear what’s actually being said. That reaction is the diagnosis. It’s normal to feel stung when something lands close. A mature person feels that sting, pauses and asks whether it’s true. An immature one goes straight to war with the person who said it. And when a woman says it, the defensiveness spikes even higher. Because now it’s not just a hard truth. It’s a hard truth from someone who was supposed to manage his comfort. Feeling stung is not the same as being wronged. Someone telling you the truth did not injure you. Your resistance to it did. Now, is she perfect? No. Is she going to deliver everything with grace every time? Also no. Let’s just assume she’s acting in good faith and doing her best. But a man who can only hear scolding when feedback is packaged correctly isn’t asking for respect. He’s asking for a handler. I see this in my work too. Something’s happening in Texas and it’s not good for Texans. For 67 years, Prosper ISD was a small farming community school district. Now it’s one of the fastest growing districts in the state. The problem isn’t the growth, it’s where it’s coming from and who’s paying for it. While previous residents paid taxes and built up reserves, the district is now draining those reserves to cover tens of millions in annual operating deficits. At the same time, they lowered the tax rate. As new students keep arriving, the number of SPED and ESL aides has also exploded (I wonder why). When you pull up the public staff directories and search “aide,” the same pattern repeats across school after school: a massive percentage of those positions are filled by people with South Asian/Indian names. Taxpayers who built this district for decades are watching their reserves get burned through while the tax rate gets cut and the support staff looks nothing like the community that funded it. This is what replacement looks like and it’s being paid for by previous Texans. #texaschanged
