The Telegram channel “Byt Ili” conducted a detailed analysis of the performance of Russian air defense during yesterday’s Ukrainian drone raid on Moscow. It was the first time that the operation of Russian air defense could be observed almost in real time. Key conclusions from the analysis: “Perhaps the most surprising thing for me in today’s strike on the Moscow oil refinery is the number of missed interceptions by Russian air defense systems against Ukrainian UAVs. In this compilation, I’ve specifically cut together the misses by ‘Pantsirs’. The selection is not complete. For the first time, we were able to observe in real time how Russian air defense operates during large-scale drone raids. And I have no rational explanation for why it performs THIS poorly. Yan Matveev described it most succinctly: ‘Air defense systems were deployed right in the city, missiles are flying chaotically in all directions and missing their targets; the threat from them is no less (and perhaps even greater) than from the drones themselves.’ But this still doesn’t answer the question: why is it like this? After all, these are UAVs flying at low speed — not cruise missiles, and certainly not ballistic ones. This can hardly even be described as a combined strike designed to overwhelm air defenses. The only fast-moving targets here were a few jet-powered UAVs like “Bars,” and there were very few of them. This is nowhere near the level of overload seen in Ukrainian air defenses during Russian combined missile strikes. And yet, even a strike of this scale creates chaos and confusion for Russian air defenses. It also leads to the conclusion that ‘Pantsir’ systems perform rather poorly against UAVs. Now it becomes clear why there is such a shortage of Pantsir missiles — because even slow Ukrainian drones sometimes cannot be shot down with two missiles. This is shown in videos 1 and 2 — two misses by a Pantsir against a single UAV, which ultimately hits its target. In video 3, a Pantsir misses the first UAV, misses the second, and only the third missile manages to shoot down the second UAV.” 1/

Global attention is focused on the Persian Gulf. But we have news too. March 2026 became the first month when, in terms of deep strikes, Ukraine reached parity with Russia. The average number of long-range kamikaze drones launched by Ukraine has significantly increased, while the average number of Russian strike drones launched against Ukraine has currently dropped to 90–110 per day. Experts offer various possible reasons for this decrease: ▪️ drone production in Russia was not fully localized and partially depended on Iran; ▪️ logistics routes have become longer, and Iran itself now needs drones; ▪️ Ukraine is partially hitting production sites and factories; ▪️ possibly, Russia is stockpiling drones, perhaps for hybrid provocations in other regions; ▪️ it is also likely that Russia has started supplying drones to Iran. By spring, Ukraine has significantly increased strikes on Russia using long-range kamikaze drones. For example: on the night of March 18, Russia officially claimed to have "shot down" 238 drones; however, some of them struck a chemical plant in Stavropol Krai and an electronics facility in Sevastopol. Ukraine has also expanded its operational range: over 1,500 km. Russians have openly expressed concern about the security of military infrastructure in the Urals. Ukraine has increased and continues to increase both the production and variety of drones. 🇺🇸🇷🇺 The American military demonstrated to Russia how a real combined arms operation should be conducted through the use of air-assault maneuvers, which has caused Russian military bloggers to react with visible outrage. It is worth recalling that on 24 February 2022, Russia’s Airborne Forces launched an airmobile operation from Belarus toward Kyiv, supported by missile strikes and air cover, using attack and transport helicopters. The objective of this blitzkrieg-style maneuver was to seize Antonov Airport in Hostomel, north of Kyiv, establish a bridgehead there, create a secure air corridor for additional airborne troops, and then rapidly advance into the Ukrainian capital with combined forces. Fortunately, Ukrainian forces succeeded in destroying the main elements of the first wave of Russian airmobile groups and significantly damaging Hostomel Airport. As a result, Russian forces failed to achieve operational effectiveness through rapid maneuver, lost critical time, and allowed Ukraine to organize effective resistance, which ultimately led to the expulsion of Russian troops from Kyiv Oblast. By contrast, today U.S. forces first neutralized Caracas’s air defense systems through high-precision missile and air strikes, thereby ensuring a secure air corridor.
