The US🇺🇸 knows a liberated Palestine🇵🇸 would mean the END of US control over the Middle East- Prof. Jason Hickel ‘US support for Israel goes back to the 1960s, during a time when Arab nationalism and Arab socialism were extremely popular in the region and gaining substantial traction. These were movements toward national liberation and economic sovereignty. The US considered this to be a problem, because it knew that it would mean Middle Eastern countries would have more control over their own resources and production, which of course means their resources would not be so cheaply available for Western firms and Western profits. So the US wanted to intervene, to crush this tendency, and they used Israel to do it. This is a decades-long project. They armed Israel to run operations all across the region to decapitate national liberation movements and destroy these tendencies. In this sense, Israel is not an ally of the US in a conventional way, but rather a kind of proxy force, a military proxy force. The US knows that a liberated Palestine would mean the end of this proxy arrangement and ultimately the end of US control in the region. A liberated Palestine means a liberated Middle East, and this is something the US is not willing to accept. They see the Middle East as the centre of the world, the hinge of Africa, Asia, and Europe. The idea of liberation and sovereignty in that region is antithetical to Western economic interests. So we have to understand the genocide in this broader context. Clearly now with the ceasefire, it’s clear that the Western political classes are trying to get us to forget about the genocide and normalise Israel. But it’s crucial that we insist this cannot be allowed to happen. The only acceptable approach is to isolate Israel until the genocidal government is dismantled, the perpetrators have been jailed, and the occupation and apartheid are ended. The settlements, of course, also have to be removed. The offices of a technology firm claimed to have links to the Israeli military was raided by pro-Palestinian activists in south England. The group People Against Genocide shared video showing people breaking into Keysight Technologies in Hampshire and destroying equipment. It claims the US-owned company manufactures radar and electronic systems for military use, and supply a drone factory owned by Elbit Systems which is a weapons maker in Israel. Other locations belonging to Keysight Technologies have been targeted in the UK over the past year. Police say three people were arrested at the scene and remain in custody. No staff were injured during the incident but they said one officer was assaulted. Keysight Technologies has not yet responded to request for comment.

When Ukraine addresses partners, requesting air defense systems that they have in warehouses and bases but that are needed here, in Ukraine, to protect lives, we are talking about genuine allied action. We in Ukraine value the efforts of all leaders and states who are truly active, keep their promises, and work hard to improve the capabilities of our air shield. Russian terrorists have already had enough time—years—to destroy Ukrainian life. This year cannot be a year of further discussions. Everything is very specific. Ukraine needs air defense, and partners can help us with that. We need artillery, and the world has it. Only a sufficient number of air defense systems and fighter jets can drive the Russian aviation away. Decisions must be made. And they are possible. Activists from a new group, Palestinian Martyrs for Justice, occupied the roof of an arms factory in the West Midlands last night. After crashing through the gates of the Moog Aircraft Group site in Wolverhampton, four people, each wearing T-shirts bearing the faces of Palestinians killed in recent Israeli strikes and detentions, used tools to begin dismantling the factory and halting production. Moog, a US-owned company, has reportedly sent at least 10 shipments since December to Israel’s Hatzerim airbase, where Elbit Systems trains pilots on F-16 and F-35 jets used in Gaza. The occupation was the group’s first public action, aimed at highlighting Britain’s role in supplying parts to Israel’s defence industry. The group’s tactics are similar to those of Palestine Action, which was proscribed as a terrorist organisation in July after years of targeting arms factories and eventually a UK military airbase. Palestinian Martyrs for Justice said in a press release: “Britain has failed to prevent the Gaza genocide. Instead, our government and companies on our doorstep continue to benefit from the destruction of Palestine. The Labour Party do not seem to have grasped that, by the Prime Minister’s own admission, the United Kingdom is now entitled to take defensive action against the launch of missiles and drones aimed at us. We are, in effect, in precisely the same position as the United States. The Prime Minister said his reason originally for not allowing Fairford or even Diego Garcia to be used, was that would constitute for him a breach of international law, because it would be us condoning an offensive operation. However, he's changed his position on this because of attacks on allies and on a UK base, and that means now that he is authorising the Americans to act in defence by taking out those kind of missiles that would attack us. Surely that now means that the UK Armed Forces, in this case the Royal Air Force, could now be used by the Government in no breach of international law in a defensive action to take out those missiles as well.

The Russians are not dialing back their war effort against our state and our people, and at the same time, they are openly investing in prolonging another war that is driving global destabilization. Ukraine is being attacked with essentially the same strike drones as those used against countries in the Middle East and the Gulf region. Ballistic weapons are used against us just as cynically as they are against our partners. The destabilization of global markets and the blocking of maritime routes have not left a single country unaffected. We are making our contribution to guaranteeing security. And it is important that the world does not lose time or opportunities. Clear, decisive, and coordinated efforts are needed to provide real protection for life and to stop wars. We need to build joint and modern defense systems proven in war. We must develop joint production of modern and effective weapons. For over a year, we have used our shows to call out the British and Irish governments' complicity in war crimes. The recent attacks against us, largely emanating from the US, are based on deliberate distortions and falsehoods. We are taking action against several of these malicious efforts. We are working tirelessly to strengthen Ukraine's relations with partners, receive more tangible support, and ensure true equality in the protection from terror. So that when we face the same terror and strikes with missiles and drones, the rules are equal in Ukraine, Europe, and other parts of the world. We have heard a lot over the last two days. We have heard about different conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, different levels of threat, and different airspace. Despite the fact that "Shahed" drones and ballistic missiles are the same. We have also heard about different threats of escalation. But are human lives any different? Is human dignity different? No. We value every human life equally. We must all value it equally. And we must equally protect lives from terror. Ukraine will request an Ukraine-NATO Council meeting focused on the protection of skies and the supplies of air defense systems and missiles. We are also actively working to ensure that the first Global Peace Summit in June yields results. I am grateful to all of the leaders and states who have expressed their willingness to attend it over the last week. I would also like to specifically thank German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for his leadership in this matter and relevant international communication, as well as for the signals we have heard from Beijing. China can truly contribute to the restoration of just peace in Ukraine as well as international stability. The Summit in Switzerland presents a real opportunity for all of us to ensure that the UN Charter, its purposes, and principles begin to work in practice.
