Sarah Palin just pushed the idea of a civil war and encouraged Trump supporters to “get angry” and “rise up to take our country back.” This rhetoric needs to end. This stuff is just going too far. We are America. We are one! Stop calling for civil war. Stop implying that we are on the brink of Civil War. We are not. Just Stop! Specifically Palin said: “Do you want us to be in a civil war? Because that’s what’s going to happen.We’re not going to keep putting up with this, and Eric, I like that you suggest that we need to get angry. We do need to rise up and take our country back. I would say the RNC thought, that’s what’s lacking when it comes to collective anger that can be health, and it can be useful… What do they want as an outcome of this? You could be Roy Cohn ruthless, be a bully, be a thief, and get your desired outcome. But you’ll end up like Trump, a bloated train wreck, angry, lonely, miserable. That’s not how you live a life. In order to live a fulfilled life, the receptionist at my company is more important than any of us in that building because they have no power. Which means you have to be genuinely nice to them, not performatively nice, actually nice. If you won’t you’re going to get smacked by me. My grandmother was a maid, so when I’m in a hotel room I leave money on the nightstand. Because it could be somebody’s grandmother cleaning that room. Trump doesn’t understand that about life. The ruthlessness arc gets you the presidency. It also gets you the loneliness and the misery that comes with it. I don’t want that. I want my people, the ones closest to me, to actually love me. And the only way that happens is if I show them unconditional love and include them.
