Paolo Maldini has just dropped a bombshell in a recent interview, explaining why he and Leonardo are resigning from their roles as the Italy national team’s technical director and advisor just 10 days after signing their contracts. Maldini walking away after 10 days and calling the whole thing a mistake is the clearest proof yet that the FIGC is still more interested in politics and budgets than actually fixing Italian football.

Paolo Maldini just quit the Italy job after ten days and blamed the federation for blocking Pep and then Pirlo. When a name like Maldini walks that fast, the problems are clearly bigger than one appointment.

@Openminded187A Pero vamos a ver, prostitutas de las neuronas, que a Pep no le podían pagar y Pirlo estaba linkeado a una marca rusa de apuestas deportivas.

Wait… Maldini and Leonardo quit after 10 days cos FIGC said “Pep too expensive, Pirlo too Russian-branded”?? Italian football really out here choosing broke + drama over actual glory. Someone explain the REAL behind-the-scenes tea cos this can’t be serious 😭

Yes, it’s real. Maldini & Leonardo quit after ~2 weeks because FIGC president Malagò blocked their pick of Pirlo (over his Russian brand ties).

Paolo Maldini and Leonardo just quit the FIGC after only 16 days. They wanted real change and a serious coach project, but the federation blocked Pirlo over his Fonbet ties and wouldn’t back their vision. When legends walk that fast, it tells you everything about how deep the problems run in Italian football.

Well said, Maldini. They need to fire everyone at the Italian FA, who has been a joke for a while. Serie A is a joke. The economy still stagnating and dragged by debt. Tough time for Italy. The only thing going for them is the ultra rich are moving there for tax reasons.

20 mio € per year for a national coach? That’s really too much and you should have known that! Also the „competence“ of Pirlo! Stop complaining and be prepared for some pushback at this position! For me that was a sign that Maldini was not the right person for this job.

If this is true - i can see Italy being away from competing for the top footballing laurels for some time to come! Serie A and the top Italian clubs are the only reason Italian football is still relevant as those clubs are able to still capture imagination of top players! Pep would have changed this nations football upside down and bring the needed rejuvenation similar to what Kloop did in Germany!

@SickSide3 There have now been 23 FIFA World Cups and not once has it been won by a team with a foreign manager. So, like it or lump it, the national passion of the manager plays a significant role in success.

VIDEO: How we used religion to give Tinubu victory – El-Rufai The former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that he and some northern governors used religion as a political tool to give victory to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. According to the former governor, the decision to use religion as a political strategy was to help tackle the issue of tribalism and religion in politics in the country. The former governor stated this in a viral video. He was speaking to an audience in the Hausa language in Kaduna at an event before handing over to his successor. He said, “Allah sees our heart, me and Zamfara State Governor, Mutawalle did it because of God and we didn’t do it because of anything. We only do it in order to have solutions to the current religious problem we are having in Nigeria and for us to give South West Muslims a sense of belonging to rule. And it is because of religion that we used that gave Asiwaju victory.” He also noted that the Muslim/Muslim ticket that he used to achieve political success in Kaduna has now been replicated in Nigeria with the emergence of Bola Tinubu as president and Kashim Shetima as vice president. He said, “What we are able to achieve in Kaduna state now has been achieved in Nigeria as a whole. There is no liar that will come and say he will do politics as a Christian and win an election. Even Peter Obi didn’t win.” He stated that he alongside other northern governors successfully pushed for the emergence of a Yoruba Muslim from the South West as president despite opposition from some quarters El Rufai speaking in Hausa said in part, “Concerning the Presidential government, what Professor Akintola said is true. We the Northern governors agreed that the presidential position should go back to the West. It was a verbal promise but a promise whether written or spoken, God knows. “When we saw some people plotting for presidential position to remain in the North, we disagreed, we are not like that. We said we are Muslims and we have our traditions and we cannot go back on our words. That was the first step. The second step is after we all agreed or they realised that they cannot do anything, we will tackle the issue of tribalism and religion in politics in this country. We agreed that we will support BAT. “When we had that agreement I was not on good terms with him, (Tinubu), we were fighting. But Professor Akintola and their leaders came from Lagos and said this is their thought If power is given to the West since we all agreed that it should be given to them the Yoruba people from the South-West have a problem, their Muslims cannot contest, and win an election. A Christian will have to contest and have a Muslim from the North as a vice. They said since from Abiola it had never happened. They said they wanted that and I asked them to bring the person we will support and BAT got the ticket. We knew he will have to take a Muslim as his vice.” He added, “What we are able to achieve in Kaduna state now has been achieved in Nigeria as a whole. There's no liar that will come and say he will do politics as a Christian and win the election. Even Peter Obi didn't win.” Credit: Tafarkin Magabata TV --- Follow us for more breaking news and videos

#WATCH | Mumbai | On FWICE issues, Non-Cooperation Directive against Actor Ranveer singh, Chief Advisor of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), Ashoke Pandit says, "We received a complaint filed by Farhan Akhtar, who is a member of our Association, against Ranveer Singh. The complaint alleged that, at the very last moment, just three weeks before our unit was scheduled to depart for a shoot, he withdrew from our film project. As soon as the complaint reached us, we formally registered it...Subsequently, we issued three notices to Ranveer Singh; we sent a notice every ten days, inviting him to engage with us, and also sent three reminders. However, we received absolutely no response. Since we received no response, we collectively decided to convene a press conference to apprise the industry of the decision taken by our Federation. The moment we announced the press conference, we received an email from Mr Singh stating that this matter did not fall within our jurisdiction and that we had no authority to interfere in it. We took note of his stance and decided to proceed accordingly. Consequently, sitting together today, our Association has taken the decision to issue a 'Non-Cooperation' directive against Ranveer Singh. This implies that none of our workers or members, across all crafts, will work on any of his projects...We have requested all producers to take a stand, to join us in solidarity, to speak out against this conduct, and to take a firm decision. We believe that this is a negative trend, a precedent that must not be allowed to take root..."

My cousins and my brother and I were exploring Coney Island, we saw the sights, hung out at the arcades and before we went back to the apartment we decided to go and get something to eat, we had some money on us but not much so we decided to see what we could get at one of the vendors. This was back in the early 90’s when most of them had dollar slices of pizza wherever we went. So we got 4 pieces of pizza, should have been $4 because that’s the price we were used to. The guy wanted to charge us $24 at $6 a slice. We argues with him because one of my cousins already took a bite being so hungry. But at the least we owed $4. We gave the other slices back and refused them but had to pay for the partially eaten one, it was embarrassing that an adult would try that on a bunch of kids. We told our uncle what happened and he went back and yelled at the vendor. He was familiar with them because he used to get slices all the time from the same guy and he never charged my uncle that price. I couldn’t imagine paying that exurban amount, like this guy who was being charged $54 for a hotdog by one of the vendors. At first he thought it was a typo and it was $5.40 but the vendor. Learned it up when he said no it was $54. Would you have paid that amount? I would have walked away, clearly he was trying to possibly scam a the man for looking like a tourist. Part of the experience when visiting a new area is the street food but it’s becoming more and more a chore avoiding places like this.

Van Hollen: Now, we know the state of our Union. We know it is under attack from a lawless president who is shredding our Constitution and attacking our democracy. A president whose private ICE army kills Americans and then calls the victims “domestic terrorists.” That is what Donald Trump and his administration said. We are here because we know our country is being robbed by the most corrupt president in American history — one who is exploiting the Oval Office to enrich himself, his family, and his billionaire buddies. A president who continues to hide portions of the Epstein files from both survivors and the American people. When are they going to release the files? A president who wants to erase our history. Are we going to let him erase America’s history? A president who promised that on day one he would bring down costs — but ever since he was sworn in, prices have gone up on the American people, even as he refuses to extend tax cuts and tax credits that help families afford their health care. We have a president who seeks not to build a more perfect union, but to tear it down. A president who said he would stop wars — but instead is responsible for war crimes and, as we speak, is threatening more wars. We are gathered here because we know we cannot pretend that any of this is normal. We will not — and must not — pretend this is business as usual. We must get in the way of Donald Trump’s march toward fascism. We cannot let our country go down that road. What Donald Trump wants to do is what all bullies do — what all dictators do. He wants to intimidate us. He wants us to sit obediently and quietly while he lies and lies and lies to the American people.

Tamizhana kevalama da 😡💦We were a group of 12 people from Tamil Nadu, and we reached Goa at around 6:30 AM. From the beginning, the hotel staff did not give proper responses or basic respect. When we went to the hotel, they behaved very rudely and did not assist us properly. During the night, we were celebrating a birthday. The staff came the first time and asked us to lower the sound, and we agreed immediately. We told them we would just cut the cake and finish. But they came a second time and spoke disrespectfully to us. When we tried to speak in Tamil, they said they didn’t understand. When we spoke in English, they replied only in Hindi. We explained that we know only Tamil and English. At that point, one staff member asked us whether we were from India or Pakistan. When we said we were from Tamil Nadu, they insulted us again saying that if we didn’t know Hindi, we must be from Pakistan. This was extremely offensive and hurtful. For all four days of our stay, we were treated with disrespect. During checkout, they accused us of breaking the TV and demanded Rs. 10,000. But when we showed them the video we recorded while leaving the room, they immediately became silent because nothing was damaged. Finally, my iPhone 13 went missing. The room key was with the staff, so we have already raised a complaint regarding this issue as well. We are extremely disappointed by the way we were treated. This experience has caused us a lot of stress and spoiled our entire trip. We request strict action against the staff involved and expect appropriate compensation for the harassment, false accusations, and the loss of my mobile phone also #coimbatore #tamilnadu #goa

Mark Carney's acceptable speech - wow - now that's leadership 👏 "Our old relationship with the United States, a relationship based on steadily increasing integration is over" "The system of global trade anchored by the United States, a system that Canada has relied on since WII, a system while not perfect has helped deliver prosperity for our country decades, is over" "But it's also our new reality" "We are over the shock of the American betrayal, but we should never forget the lessons" "We have to look out for ourselves" "And above all, we have to take care for each other" "When I sit down to speak with President Trump it will be to sit down and discuss the future relationship between two sovereign nations" "And it will be with our full knowledge that we have many many other options than the United States to build prosperity for all Canadians" "We will chart a new path forward, because this is Canada and we decide what happens here" "We will need to think big and act bigger" "We will need to do things previously thought impossible at speeds we haven't seen in generations" "We can give ourselves far more than the Americans take away" "The coming days and months will be challenging and they will call for some sacrifices. But we will share those sacrifices by supporting our workers and our businesses" "We aren't always perfect but we always strive to be good" "We do things because they are right, not because they're easy" "We see kindness as a virtue, not as a weakness" "We know that our strength lies in our resolve to work together as a country, on our unity" "We become just by doing just acts, brave by doing brave acts" "When we are kind, kindness grows" "When we seek unity, unity grows" "When we are Canadian, Canada grows"

To the small island who once ruled the world… come the men who do. 24 years ago, Nike released this advert. It’s trending on social media again. I watched it this morning and it made me cry. I bumped into a neighbour yesterday who has lived in South Africa for 5 years and we were talking about the upcoming game. She’s heading down to our Clubhouse to watch it… as most of us are. And she was telling me how excited she is for South Africa. She’s originally from America but will be wearing her Green and Gold tonight. We started talking about the heart of rugby in our country. You see, the Bokke don’t just play a sport, they play with everything they have. They play for every single South African. They play to remind us who we are. And they play to show us who we can be. My neighbour said, “There is no other nation that does that. It’s so beautiful.” She ignited a core memory in me. It was 1995. The Rugby World Cup was the first major sporting event to take place in South Africa following the end of apartheid. We were the hosts. It was also the first World Cup in which we were allowed to compete. I was sitting on the floor with my brother and sister watching. My folks were on the couch. There was this intense feeling of trepidation. We needed to win. Our country needed to win. “But how do you remember that? You must have been so young?” My neighbour asked. Because it was the first time we felt like one nation. Undivided. It was the first time our country was standing behind a new president and a new flag - together. Nelson Mandela made us believe that we were the rainbow nation. He gave us hope that as a country, we could become more than what we were before. We could rewrite our history. When that last whistle blew our entire team dropped to their knees crying, the crowd flying the new South African flags higher than high and then Nelson Mandela made his way to the pitch to meet Francois Pienaar. Something was ignited in us all. The spirit and heart of how rugby brings South Africans together. So ja, our team don’t just play a sport. They play with everything they have. They play for every single South African. They play to remind us who we are. And they play to show us who we can be. Win or lose, they play to bring us together. To the Bokke today, noma ngabe kwenzekani namuhla, iNingizimu Afrika iyaziqhenya ngani. Ngiyabonga Bokke! Searching for the best in me, I will fight for what I can be. If I win, lose or draw, there's a winner in us all! It's the world in union. The world as one. As we climb to reach our destiny. A new age has begun. For South Africa! Okay. Love you.
