Every time I hear a friend say they want a Malinios, my response is "no, you don't"
Our dog trainer put it this way. You throw a ball off of a cliff. The German Shepherd will find a way down the cliff to retrieve that ball. The Malinois will jump off the cliff after that ball.
I love these dogs... I am also smart enough to enjoy videos of these dogs... and be content with that.😅
Father was 100% black German Shepherd. Mother was a mix of Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd and German Shepherd.

Belgians are German Shepards on meth lol 😂 BUT working line GSD are similar but not as bad. Mine is close to a Belgian. And when she’s having a playdate with my friend with a Belgian, they suddenly speak the same language like the raptors in Jurassic world. It’s crazy to watch lol 😂
I will take my 5 working line GSDs (Czech and DDR) over 1 Mal any day. Mals are GSDs on crack with a 6 pack.
They need Alpha trainers , not a first dog for anyone and not for most but when dominated correctly they are Thee BEST ! mine is a fairly common cross with Great Pyrenees for sheep protection they're bigger and will kill a wolf , extremely smart and fast

Fantastic description. Both wonderful animals. Have owned a couple GDS and the closest to the Malinois I've owned is the Louisiana Catshoula Leopard Dog... But still nowhere in the class of the Malinois

Most can't handle a high prey drive GSD, even fewer a Mal.
Beautiful breed. I love high energy pups that can match my husband and I, but I also want lazy downtime. Keep sharing as I can sit back and enjoy with my 2 pups.

Don't get me wrong, I think Mals are amazing dogs. I'm in awe at what they can do. But there is no way I could provide even a fraction of what a Mal needs, physically or mentally. They're very cute super smart chaos goblins.

My daughter has one. Harlen would die for her.😍 His favourite pastime is chasing squirrels & possums up into the trees! He climbs up a major portion! Belgian Malinois are not for the weak hearted, Harlen is always in hyper alert, even in the car, when it comes to my daughter!
I met my first Malinois last month while walking down the street. I happened to make a short kissing sound with my mouth just to see what would happen. Clearly this dog knew that sound as a cue. He immediately jumped at me and his chest hit my shoulder. I'm 6 feet. All good fun.
We experience the difference every morning. Our GS mix sidles up to my wife in bed, gives her a kiss & then lays down at her feet. Our Mal mix launches herself on to the bed, sits on top of my wife while covering her in kisses & then rolls on to her back to get belly rubs.
I'll stick with my German Shepard. He's a monster if there's a door or window between you. If you make it inside, he's pretty sure you're there to see him. I've been around enough Belgians to know they want you to come inside to fuck you up. I prefer a samurai over a ninja.
Omg. Both are nut jobs and super smart, but mals are really in a class of their own. No other breed compares to them. ❤️
