Fantaisie impromptu by chopin is well known, even by people not so into classical music. (Lot of movies, ads and medias have chopin playing in the background lol) Polyrythm looks scary. True. But as a lot of things in music, slow approach and slow repetition is key to it. Once it's correctly learned and built into your muscle memory, you don't pay attention to it anymore, as weird as it sounds. Most of this piece is actually played in a 3 to 4 polyrythm ( while the left hand plays 3 notes the right hand plays 4 notes. And I'm an amateur player BTW :)

Polyrhythms can be distinguished from irrational rhythms, which can occur within the context of a single part; polyrhythms require at least two rhythms to be played concurrently, one of which is typically an irrational rhythm. Concurrently in this context means within the same rhythmic cycle. The underlying pulse, whether explicit or implicit can be considered one of the concurrent rhythms. For example, the son clave is poly-rhythmic because its 3 section suggests a different meter from the pulse of the entire pattern.
