We in Ukraine have responded positively to all proposals from the U.S. and President Trump to end all these attacks and killings. Ukraine has also proactively put forward various formats to bring the war to an end. It is Putin alone who is interested in these killings. Every day, this war remains solely his war – the war of Russia alone. And we expect the world to draw conclusions from this. Especially after the drone incursions into Poland – a country that is extremely important for the security of all Europe. A country that respects America and President Trump. It is crucial that Europe truly understands: when it comes to Russia, it is not about one neighbor or another, it is about everyone. Lavrov also said that "when - and if - it comes to signing future agreements with Ukraine, the question of the legitimacy of the signatories on the Ukrainian side will arise." Russia is stalling, playing for time and has no real intention of ending the war.

Basically, Russia has said it has national security concerns. The expansion of NATO was the cause of the war in Ukraine. The US-led coup in February 2014 was the provocation that led onward to war in Ukraine. If Trump comes to this meeting with honesty and says yes, the United States should stop provoking Russia, stop trying to weaken Russia, stop trying to divide Russia, then there could be peace. US Vice President J.D. Vance made a sharp statement warning Russia that it will be "very bad" for them if they do not actively engage in "good-faith" negotiations on Ukraine. According to Vance, Trump believes the conflict harms everyone – Russia, Ukraine, and America – and is dissatisfied that Russia allegedly is not sufficiently committed to a peaceful resolution. "And here is what I will say about the president: he is keenly responsive to the reality on the ground. And the reality is this: first, we have conducted incredibly good-faith negotiations with both the Russians and the Ukrainians. And I believe the president is becoming increasingly impatient with the Russians because he feels they are not offering enough to end the war. That is first.
