Predictably, Mayor Brandon Johnson Pinocchio-ed his way through an interview with Fox 32. Johnson claimed CPD's homicide clearance rate had risen to 72 percent due to his "revamping" the Detective Division. This is pure fantasy, and every CPD we know says it's false.

I have not lied to the people of Chicago.” Did Mayor Johnson just lie when he said that? Do you feel he has lied to the people of Chicago? Since Ryan Zeferjahn joined the Cubs, he's lost 1.3" of vertical break on his 4-Seamer, and slug against it has risen by .433 in August compared to last month. Why is this happening? No idea! No noticeable difference in grip, release position, velocity, or even raw spin rate. I wonder if the differences in barometric pressure, air density, or elevation between Angel Stadium and Wrigley are hurting the shape (pure guess, would love to hear others' thoughts). Or it's just natural fluctuation of the shape and this is an overreaction to small samples :)

Zavion Thomas moves like he’s in fast forward. Ben Johnson said today: He tends to make a play every day if we can harness all this energy and make sure that we can trust him and he’s going to align where he needs to and run the route the way we need him to then we really could use him and he could be a big weapon for us this year. Security footage from January 10, 2013, captures the last known movements of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson. In the video, he is seen walking inside the gym of his high school. The following day, his body was found rolled up in a gym mat. $Trooper’s journey is an absolute miracle. We rescued him at just 7 months old after he had eaten ropes and coconut husks out of pure desperation on the streets. Things were incredibly dire. His small intestine had been twisted for about 10 days and had actually started to rot. The surgery to save him was brutal. The doctor found 150 ml of inflammatory fluid in his abdomen, and his spleen and pancreas were severely inflamed. They had to remove about 1.2 meters of his intestine, leaving him with only a tiny fraction of what a normal dog has. He was in critical care for a week, but those amazing vets saved his life! Fast forward almost a year: Trooper is a super healthy, incredibly happy boy. Because his intestine is now so short, he has some trouble with nutrient absorption and requires a special diet of easily digested food and supplements for the rest of his life. But honestly? None of that phases him. We took him to the beach today, and seeing the pure joy on his face makes every hard day worth it. Keep thriving, Trooper! 🏖️❤️$

Meanwhile, police officers hands are tied, Chicago families continue to deal with shootings, carjackings, robberies, and violence in their neighborhoods. Chicago doesn't need another office. Chicago needs leadership that delivers results. As Mayor, I will focus on reductions in crime, transparent government, forensic audits, accountability for every taxpayer dollar, and restoring public safety in every neighborhood, not just during election season. We just received a report about this tiny newborn puppy. It appears someone has separated him from his mother and left him behind to die. Heartbreaking 💔 He looks barely 10 days old. His eyes haven't even opened yet. He is struggling to walk, helplessly crying, with ants crawling all over his tiny body. No newborn deserves to suffer like this. Our team is on the way to rescue him and bring him to safety. We pray we reach him in time. This is not just abandonment it is an act of unimaginable cruelty. Newborn puppies cannot survive without their mother's warmth and milk. Relocating or abandoning puppies is never the solution. The real and humane solution is sterilization. Responsible sterilization programs are the only way to control the stray animal population and prevent such heartbreaking situations. These innocent puppies have done nothing wrong. They deserve love, protection, and a chance to live. Please keep this little soul in your kind prayers. We hope he finds the strength to fight through this and gets the second chance at life that every innocent being deserves. #Dogs #AnimalWelfare

HOUSTON, TX : Another person is dead after an ICE shooting, and once again we’re being asked to accept the government’s version of events before seeing the evidence. ICE says Lorenzo Salgado Araujo “weaponized” his van and tried to run over an agent during a targeted immigration stop in Houston, prompting the agent to open fire. He was shot in the abdomen around 6:50 a.m., transported to the hospital in critical condition, and died hours later. His family says they weren’t notified in time, and loved ones instead learned what happened through videos circulating on social media. Earlier this year, DHS claimed Renee Good tried to run over federal agents in Minnesota. The video that was later released did not show that. DHS also claimed Ruben Ray Martinez tried to run over agents in Texas. Again, the available video failed to support that narrative. And in Minnesota, ICE officer Christian Castro now faces felony charges, including filing a false police report, in a separate immigration operation.

Scottie Scheffler says his preparation has now changed for his Open Championship title defence next week after missing the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open. He also reacted to his made cut streak ending: “Yeah, it's a little different now with some of the Signature Events not having cuts. But you know, this is -- I don't think I finished outside of the top 20 or something like that many times this year. “I'm definitely proud of the consistency, and wish I had a couple days over the weekend to make up some ground.
