President Trump is asking for one thing regarding tariffs: A level playing field. All that has to happen to resolve this is for foreign leaders to lower the tariffs imposed on the United States!

Stephen these are *not* reciprocal tariffs. Trump is tariffing all imports. Trump is tariffing countries that place no tariff on US imports.

Well, it seems more than just lower tariffs...it is now about VAT, allowing Chinese companies to manufacture in markets like Vietnam....etc. And I imagine it will also lead to countries paying for national security protections...it seems to be shape shifting in real time

No, it's about balance of trade not imports. He wants countries to import more. And to greatly reduce any country being just a waystation for Made in China.
